Spirit Taming

Chapter 386: World's Mysteries

Chapter 386: World's Mysteries

Ella's excitement only grew as she watched Clark write three pages of the two possible growth paths. Each one was very unique and required the three pages each. If they didn't have that then there would be no way for her to begin researching the possibilities they held. But she still wasn't sure what Clark had written down.

"I didn't think I would see you this energetic so soon. Normally you are so observant and calm. This is like a whole new Ella." Isa was taking the chance to watch Ella be happy. Ella didn't seem to be holding back at all either. She was fine with Isa leaning on her and hugging her in celebration which was out of the norm.

"Everyone would be happy to make a breakthrough in strength. That is why you are all here training with me this morning. But this is good motivation to train harder." Maria was still very focused but she had a very wide smile as she looked at the cloud sprite. It was very unique and definitely made everyone rethink what they had in mind when they looked up at the clouds.

"If you can have this beast make rain, wouldn't it turn to snow here?" Illia brought the question right out and the open while Clark was still writing. It brought everyone to look at the cloud sprite then at the sky.

"Show off a little." Ella pointed at the sky and the cloud sprite seemed to step in to the air. Its body was humanoid, yet it didn't have defined features. The cloud body seemed to shift too much to make a solid nose or eyes. But it had the outlines which made everyone understand that it was smiling as it moved to show off.

This was a clear identifier that the more powerful a wisp got through growth the more that they would change intellectually. The cloud sprite was now able to show off emotions. Furthermore, it would be able to show off what it could do better than when it was a wisp or living mist that could really only follow orders blindly.

As it gained height, the clouds just above that always hung over the north lost a portion to the lower altitude. The clouds joined the cloud sprite and began to whirl slightly. It was weak at first since the cloud sprite was using instinct to use the skills it had. The more that it used them the more that the cloud sprite would be able to do.

Unfortunately, it was still too young in the terms of its cloud sprite life. It needed more training to do more and control the energy which had yet to settle within it yet.

The small whirling cloud that it controlled became slightly darker than the normal white clouds above them. Before anyone could ask how it was manipulating the clouds, a slight misty rain had begun to fall right above them. It was weak, but it was happening.

As the cold air hit it, the cloud sprite made the air flow more. The mist began to freeze and soon a soft snowfall fell around them. "So it can make snow but it requires there to be colder winds. It can't control the temperature here. Interesting." For whatever reason, Brad had become incredibly interested in the changes of weather.

"If you have it make use of the skills like that, it can negate the poor weather we face or create good weather for us to fight. Brad and I would do well against opponents that are obstructed in some way. Same with Jerold too, he would be able to hide better." Reese made it clear that he also saw the benefit. He and Brad were up close and personal fighters.

If the cloud sprite made it tough for opponents to notice them, then the two would have a better chance of getting close to beat an opponent quicker and more safely.

"Yes, my cloud sprite can… Clark, what is a storm cloud king?" Ella finally managed to see over Clark's shoulder as he began to write the last line.

"It's the final and most unique form of growth for the cloud sprite. It also might have the chance to become one because your blue flame skeleton is a fire attribute beast that is away above its level. It should have taken longer to take over the skeleton, but it advanced very quickly. That means it lets off a ton of energy in your taming space since it grew too fast and needs more time to adjust.

That left something to take on that energy, right?"

"Wait, does that mean that Isa might have a beast that is more powerful than the rest of her beasts because it was raised next to a different species of its own kind?" Grace had long listened to the theories that Ella came up with. She had even given the newer members of their group impromptu lessons about beast typing to help them catch up compared to the others.

It was just being nice for the most part even though this was such basic foundational information. But because of it, everyone had a better understanding of what it meant to influence a beast with different typings.

"Exactly that." Clark saw that Ella was now completely frozen while reading the two different descriptions of beasts the cloud sprite could become. "And even if it doesn't become a legendary existence as a storm cloud king, a cloud king is still amazingly powerful." Clark didn't want Ella to be too dead set on this.

He wanted her to be prepared if this didn't work out the way she was currently imagining.

"So Ella has a new theory that tops her last one. She has evidence that the growth of a wisp can both change to many beasts under her guidance, but also that they can change each other. Let alone that they can fuse together to make one beast. All this evidence will make wisps the first choice of many and certainly of researchers." Jerold summed things up for the group. But no one needed it.

He was more speaking his mind out loud in personal awe. It was something not many elderly researchers would be able to claim about their careers.

"I will be changing and recording things. All my plans have been too rigid. Today is a day where my eyes are opened yet again. I am so blind." Ella's mumbling was accompanied by a few tears as she smiled at the book. She loved her research. She loved these endless possibilities.

The intense knowledge that was hidden behind time just waiting for her to discover it. Nothing could make her happier.

"Awe, it looks like the cloud is tired. I guess that's it for some training like that now." Ralph had been silently watching the falling snow. For someone who was always rough around the edges, he had taken a liking to the snow and in turn, now the cloud sprite because it could make snow.

"Don't be sad about the snow. It can get colder. Let's go do some ice water swimming again. I think we could all use a change of scenery so that we can train better." Illia seemed to be the only one that thought this. But as soon as Maria heard more training, the decision was made.

Even Ella was dragged along toward the frozen pond behind the mansion. No one could miss the harsh cold training.

The only person that lingered back was Clark who was waiting to see what Ella had to say after sending the cloud sprite back to her taming space. "You can ask me anything you need. I know that the skills I have wouldn't be good enough to raise a beast like you can naturally. But since I have some skill, they are yours to use." Clark believed that Ella was a true genius.

How could he, a fake genius, not help her?

The system did too much for Clark, he was not sure if she could do this sort of things alone. He had full certainty that Ella would have done amazing things if left alone. "I will prove that this is possible. Even if I have to find the rarest materials. I have a year to find things to speed growth of all my beasts. I need to know what's next for all of them.

And your beasts too. It's a lot to work on."

When Ella looked up, the determination in her eyes was more solid than any metal that would ever be found. The true essence of what made someone a truth seeker wasn't that they asked the questions. It was the simple fact that a real researcher, a real mystery solver, would stand out and proclaim to the world that it could never hide anything from them. That was the expression that Ella was making.

"We'll start with the frost maiden then. It should have a unique growth to undergo, I just don't know what anymore. Isa wants a unique material. Let's find it." Clark threw out the challenge they would face in a few days on the way to the ice dragon's nest in the dungeon.
