Spirit Taming

Chapter 361: Demonic Branches

Chapter 361: Demonic Branches

"Very impressive. You should come for an evaluation after this battle is finished. If we manage to win, I will give you half off. You have heard of the business, correct?" Clark stayed calm and had regained his emotions to a degree. He knew he had to so that he would be able to handle the last opponent who seemed to have the worst beast yet.

"I believe that you would. However, we should change our focus. Please tell me that your evaluation skills can explain why that thing is eating the beast of the last opponent you killed." Illia had stopped her gaze on the beast body left behind. Clark hadn't even said a word before he had killed the tamer, naturally, the dead beast would be left behind.

The spirit beasts would die with their tamer. That was known. There were, of course, times when the spirit beast would somehow survive. There were always outstanding situations that broke the norm. However, this was not the case today.

'Serpentine corpse- rare

The serpentine beast is originally a species of lizardmen. These lizardmen killed off all their male counterparts and began consuming snakes. This allowed them to develop poisonous bites and steal men from other tribes. This made them the most infamous of beasts in the lizardmen race after they lost their standing as an intelligent species.

Upin perishing, this corpse is useful for making powerful antidotes or using the poison to coat blades. The scales and tail end can be used in weapon forging while poison type beasts can consume the meat. The best use for…'

Clark had already used analysis on the beast's corpse right on the ground. He was glad he didn't have to deal with it after he killed the tamer and the corpse had appeared on the floor after being tossed from the taming space. He was certain that the girl he had killed would have used the poison in battle. But right now, he wasn't sure what was consuming the corpse.

The analysis was taking longer than he had imagined, but the ethereal academy student was moving very slowly toward them to take a stance so there was time. This made Clark happy since he could feel the rush of energy as Shy speedily absorbed the moving shadow liquid. Clark had not hesitated to use it since he was sure that she would gain a lot immediately from it.

The rush of energy from her was proof that he had made the correct decision.

The black mossy growth that had left the Ethereal academy student's cloak and was clearly eating away at the corpse of the serpentine beast was definitely one that shouldn't be messed with. Just touching the beast was eating away at the scales considered perfect for creating forged items. That should have told them enough.

'Demonic fallen dryad- ultra rare

The fallen dryad is a dryad that has forsaken the forest and tree that it was meant to protect. Instead, it has focused on rot and dark type energies. This makes it a dangerous multi elemental type beast with darkness, water, earth, and even poison typing. It is an expert in making unique poisonous plants grow.

Upon being left in a cage to absorb demonic energy, it has been tainted with even worse mental and physical issues causing it to take on the demonic energy typing as well. This caused its mutation to be fused with its tamer. The further mental attacks from its tamer had radically pushed it to become a maddened monster along with its tamer.

The two can only be controlled by a more powerful being with more control over demonic energy. Therefore making them mindless monsters that reside within the same body. The dangers that come with it are the insatiable appetite to consume every living thing within the forest or the land around it.

It needs to so that it can survive and grow more tainted plant life that will give birth to demonic and dark type beasts that will follow its will.

The best methods of…'

Everything that Clark could see was terrible. This beast was once a decent beast but had become a fallen dryad. A terrible fate already but not one that would have ended a tamer's and a beast's life. But when it had been trapped and forced to take on demonic energy it had truly lost everything. The tamer was apparently the same. They were just monsters being controlled.

"That's not a tamer and beast. It's a fallen dryad fused with a former human. Basically we are looking at a demonic monster that needs to be killed. And someone is controlling. Most likely whoever is involved in the source of all this. Ut just wants to consume and destroy while making more evil monsters." Clark gave Illia the run down.

He wasn't hiding a thing.

As Illia listened, she grew more and more disgusted. A creature like this had made it in to Nebula without being stopped. Whatever group was behind all of this was surely trying to take away something. "What is the best method to kill it?" Illia looked at Clark waiting for an answer.

"Let me figure that out. Your ice should slow it down. But we already have things to worry about." Grotesque trees were sprouting on the arena. Their blackened bark and sharpened branches seemed to be manipulated by the fallen demonic dryad easily. The mossy ground was also becoming larger trying to spread out over the entire arena.

The glacial serpent let out a sharp hiss before the cold energy bloomed ahead of them in a wave. It managed to freeze the ground, however, the ice was eaten away by the blackened moss. The fallen dryad was easily melting it with poison and taking the water itself for the plants it was creating.

"Crimson, speed is not the victory here. I need you to prepare small bursts of your flame breath attack. You should be able to resist the poisons and the dark type energy as a slime dragon. But do not let a single nit of demonic energy within you." Clark gave heavy orders to Crim who retreated and took Shy with him.

The two were back away as Clark took the full attention to the cloaked Ethereal academy student.

Illia and Clark saw the large roots digging in to the ground. The cloak could barely hide them. The ethereal academy student was slowly keeping less and less hidden. The small amount of flesh that still remained had been more or less covered in bark. Small portions of bone could be seen but they were changing form in to a blackened and sharp looking wood.

It seemed that the demonic fallen dryad had more or less fused itself to the very core of the tamer.

Purple pupils trained themselves on Clark as he drew the black lightning spear back. He was going to be ready for any of the branches from the blackened trees attacking him at any moment. The ethereal academy student saw this but then glanced at Illia who was preparing a long whip that appeared to be made of slush.

'Flowing frosty whip- rare

The flowing frost whip is a water and ice type weapon. The two forms are constantly being made and broken in the weapon itself. This is achieved through unique runes that are only able to be made by the highest of blacksmiths.

The materials were lacking causing this weapon to be of a lesser quality. The best materials could yield a legendary weapon, especially if eternal ice was used with moonlight fountain water.

The flowing frost who can shoot frosty needles or wrap and freeze the target it strikes. It is strong in defensive and offensive power from mid range. It requires a unique style of combat arts called the half frozen whip dance. Many fail to reach the highest levels of this form of combat due to their lacking physical abilities.'

The whip was definitely not bad. Ckalrk didn't shake his head at it or the style needed to wield it. He did think for a second about how he would be able to find moonlight fountain water. It seemed important for forging unique weapons or armor when using eternal ice. Unfortunately, two of the tree branches were striking toward him and Illia each.

Clark managed to jump back and slash one away while dodging the other. The crescent moon slash had broken right through it leaving no damage on the black lightning spear.

Illia was unable to sever the branches, but where her flowing frost whip hit the branches, heavy ice formed causing the branches to slow immensely until they were hit with other branches to break away the ice and prepare for another attack.

These attacks from a distance were going to be the toughest part. Clark could only let Devi out and hoped he could start to confuse his opponent with Devi's laughter. The more opportunities he had, the better. Especially since Crim needed time to consolidate energy.
