Spirit Taming

Chapter 327: Impressive Wins

Chapter 327: Impressive Wins

The referee announced the winners immediately. "Nova academy first year students have won with a perfect eight points to zero points. This was a complete win across the board. The first years students are showing the world what the Nova academy has found for new geniuses this year!"

While it seemed like the referee was really talking them up, it was easier to understand that the celestial sea academy had shown up with a solid strategy and a few very powerful tamers. Unfortunately, Clark was the key to everyone's success here.

Clark had made sure that even the weakest of their group had been brought to a new level of understanding. Where many would have just been standing equal while being able to have a taming space, Clar had ignored that. Grace and Jerold lacked a taming space. That was seen as a weakness.

Yet, here they were with beasts that were stronger because they had focused on their growth instead of a taming space.

A weak beast with a taming space would take longer to get stronger. It would also not help the tamer to adjust and grow sooner either since the taming space could require the tamer to take time to settle the taming space's energy. That alone made the taming space disadvantageous. Grace was a perfect example.

The wind whisperer was weak. It couldn't even form a body without natural winds that allowed it to show itself. The only strength was the fact that Grace had an extra skill to sense things surrounding her with the wind. By growing the wind whisperer in to a first finch, Grace had lost the secondary ability to sense wind and was able to train herself without it.

She also gained another skill to control ice with the assistance of her frost finch which now had a physical ice body that could attack and bring frost to the surrounding area.

There was also the fact that they had not relied on a cheap strategy that depended on setting up the field and sacrificing points to then sweep away the competition. It was risky but very arrogant to do that. Seeing the last two brothers that looked down on everyone like trash and even flew in to a rage, this made a lot of sense.

Even the girl with the seafoam horse didn't cry for her beast, just the value that it had in appearance.

Many of the audience had actively started to jeer the other years of the celestial sea academy that had similar tactics or other underhanded acts. This just went to loosen the morale of every single celestial sea academy team.

These first match ups were the same for every year, but it was not a guarantee that every year would beat the same academy. The match ups could be different tomorrow. However, with the stunning and efficient victory that the first years had, the second, third, and fourth years were able to build momentum. The audience's negative focus helped break the morale of the celestial sea academy teams.

From there, it was a simple matter of exasperating these feelings and winning their matches for the other Nova academy students.

Adding on the fact that a first year had just shown off a dragon, Clark had perfectly demonstrated strength and given a one sided view to everyone. No one would expect that the kid who carried a weird doll was holding another beast that was watching and learning about battle. They also wouldn't expect him to be able to fight.

Most of all, Clark's allowance to let Crim attack and even by making a personal bet in front of thousands of people was too much to ignore. He had taken the spotlight perfectly distracting everyone from Jerolod's tricks. This was why Clark just had to glance at Jerold for him to understand why Clark had gone out against the last opponent. It was all a strategy to hide more of their teams' secrets.

"You all did well. You understood the opponents you might face and you dismantled their strategy. I can not condone your methods," Professor Wright met them and looked at Clark and Jerold. "But one was more necessary than the other due to the threats they spoke. It is extremely taboo to threaten a city in this tournament. They would have been penalized after the match whether they won or lost.

You solved that."

The reason this was a taboo subject was simple. The cities had once fought over dungeons, wilderness, and resources. Now things were calm and they competed with one another while making deals and arrangements at other times. It was an era of peace for the most part.

"Brad, you let yourself go too much. When you get back to the inn you are going to meditate on the entire battle and attempt to understand your beast's new skills. Grace, very well done. You have learned well from your fellow ladies. You even had a secondary and tertiary weapon to use. Maria, good healing, your medical and healing knowledge is growing.

Isa, a little more focus on your own team's battles, I saw you looking away."

"Ralph, you held back. I am proud of you for that. You are getting much more mature. Reese, you understood your limits clearly, next match you should speak with Clark to find you a battle. You can do more." Professor Wright gave her honest explanations before she waved them all to follow her out of the arena waiting room.

She was smiling the whole way while she took them through a guarded route away from potential spectators.

Meanwhile, the gossip had started about the amazing complete sweep of the first year battles. Every signal academy that had fought through the day as it had gone on had given up a point. But the nova academy's first years were the only undefeated group. Even their second, third, and fourth years had lost points somewhere.

What was even more surprising was that Nova academy was not the only academy with a complete set of wins.

Through some digging, the group would eventually hear of the other academy's standings. But for now, they heard of how Ella had managed to remain out of the battles completely. Professor Wright had told them all about how Ella had held back since her group expected her not to be able to battle well. This had left her with all her secrets intact. All her beasts unrevealed.

Clark liked hearing this the most since he was sure that Ella could beat many tough opponents. She had been waiting a long time to get her beasts where they were now. Since they were finally powerful and she had adapted to the growth they went through, Ella was much further ahead of the other third years than anyone would expect or understand. It was just a matter of showing it at some point.

Luckily, Nova academy had managed to win all their battles completely shutting out celestial sea academy's chance at moving forward. They could leave the city, or they could watch the battles. But they would be watched carefully after they lost their members. They were one of two academies all together that lost students. But they had lost two while another academy had lost one.

But that was a story for another time.

At the moment, Clark and the others had finally cleaned up and gotten themselves fed after their match. It had been a few hours of reflecting on the battles since that was what Professor Wright had required them to do. If they did not, it would be an insult to every move they could have learned from that they threw away.

"Why did you try and get the eggs and the sea serpent? Is it important to you?" Coincidentally, Maria was the one asking this. Clark could only chuckle in response.

"What did I say that was funny?" Maria puffed up her cheeks unsure why Clark found her questions so funny.

"They have to be for you then. He probably doesn't want to sell the sea serpent eggs either." Isa was a little disappointed realizing this.

"We can sell a sea serpent egg but it might be better to hatch if we can figure out how to purify its bloodline and hatch a leviathan. But the sea serpent's body has blood that can help Lit and the midnight eels. Mostly the midnight eel hiding in your shadow. It can help any ocean species beast grow.

Your princess jellyfish and Midnight eel are from that same family even though they are no longer water type at all.

"Really? They can be used to help…A leviathan!?" Maria had read stories about the beasts that had rampaged the oceans. A leviathan was thought of as a literal moving disaster in the oceans. They could even take to the skies and bring disaster to the land for a short while.

"You heard me right. But Yes, they can help both your beasts or we can see about purifying these eggs' bloodlines. Maybe we can manage to hatch one. I'm sure it could be good. It just might be hard."
