Chapter 283: Goods Of The Deceased
Chapter 283: Goods Of The Deceased
Since there were so many people around trying to sell things, Clark thought it only right to go hunting for a few new things. Isa also had the chance to show off her skills since she would be able to sell the materials and eggs that they had if they didn't want to make it to the north.
"I really need a shield now?" Brad was glad that he would be able to get a new tougher shield. However, he felt that he would be at a disadvantage with it.
"Yes, there will be ancient weapon beasts. They might not actually be ancient but they will be strong. You will need to defend yourself and that small shield will be useless. You also are in a growth stage of your own with your new taming space. That's why your possessed helm can't leave the taming space, it is growing too."
This was enlightening. Brad knew that his partner was growing but he couldn't see it. He could only feel the condensing energy and the fact that the possessed helm was surely getting stronger in some form. He hadn't realized that the weight he had been carrying since the other day had already begun to have an effect.
He had shown everyone that his appetite was growing but he thought it was all because he was traveling.
Grace and Reese seemed to want to speak with Professor Wright more, it was most likely because they had more questions about this kind of dungeon. Ralph wandered off alone which made Clark wonder how that would go. But he trusted that Ralph would only get in to a few small arguments and not actually fight anyone.
There were no worries that Ralph would get tricked in to buying anything since he actually appeared to have some decent street smarts because of how he grew up in a lower class family.
"Isa and I will be analyzing the materials there. Some of the tamers are clearly interested in ores and other gems of the earth family. We may be able to trade lower tier ones for higher tier ones. They are better for certain beasts." This was just a fact of beast growth but Ella wanted to ensure that she had the best materials at all times.
"So that leaves just you, me, and Brad." Maria was fairly interested in the things they might fund. She knew that Clark had a knack for finding good things.
"I'm glad you are so energetic. I feel like I will be too slow just trying to pick up the heavy shield he chooses." Brad saw that Clark was paying little attention to Maria and him.
"Don't worry. He will choose what's best. Clark has very good eyes and focuses just as much as you do when you try. Just don't fall asleep because you get distracted or bored with it." Maria's reprimand came from the fact that the last time Brad had to get firewood he had been found sleeping next to a tree. It was a poor habit that they all wished they could break or at least discourage.
While the two tried to take their own looks at the materials and other things on sale around the camping area near the dungeon, Clark was focused on the items as well. His eyes darted from side to side analyzing wherever he could see.
'False emblem- trash
A fake emblem made of fake gold was created to scam others.
'Broken sword- trash
This sword broke along the handle and has been poorly repaired. It will break at the next trike.
'Watered down health potion- trash
Watered down to make more potions, this health potion is dangerous. It could cause the death of many people if confused for a real health potion.'
"So many worthless things. Scammers are true to everything and everywhere." The comment made Brad and Maria raise their eyebrows. They weren't sure why Clark was so surprised.
This kind of area was perfect for merchants to scam their way to a small fortune. All it took was the right situation for someone to be able to trick a weak minded person in to buying literal garbage. Some scammers could even talk the best minds in to buying something that they would never need. Not that a little common sense didn't put an end to all of that.
"Come and take a gamble. The last set of spatial rings is here. Their identities are pointless without a body. Their families have no claim to these rings without written instructions!" The merchant shouting such strange things was surrounded by a few people. This seemed to be a more common event than the three knew.
"So they sell the spatial rings of people who won't want their items returned to family or don't have a will planned for their death?" Maria felt a little disgusted. These were people's belongings. However, she also understood that the items had to go somewhere. If some of these people were alone in the world, then they most likely wouldn't write anything down for where their belongings would go.
"Checked and approved by the military appraisal experts, everything within these rings is safe and yours if you want to take a gamble!" The merchant had a few good selling points. He was able to work the small groups well and a few people went up to buy a ring or two.
"Just one gold and you get a shot at a ring. A high price if you don't believe that you might get some of the rarest items handed down to a family tamer, or a unique technique book, you might even get the rare materials from lower floors!"
The curiosity came over Clark while looking at the spatial rings. He had never used the analysis skills on them and that made him wonder what would happen. The rings were items, yes, but they held more items. So that raised the question of what the system would say when he checked them.
'Spatial ring- common
Used to store things and also identify someone. The identities have been erased for privacy and respect for the dead. They can not be used as identification rings again and will collapse once everything has been removed from them. The unique magic to create and destroy this ring is highly guarded by many beings in the world.
This ring contains:
Shirt
Pants
Shouse
Boots
Six pairs of socks
Rain coat
Fourteen small spiritual crystals
Five oak logs
…'
Clark saw the ring's information and smiled. He quickly analyzed every ring then stepped forward. He reached out and grabbed three rings while throwing three gold to the merchant that was looking at a potential victim. "Thanks for the free stuff." Clark's arrogant attitude made the merchant want to bait the young tamer even more.
"Try your hand at these ones too. This is the next sale batch. I want to make sure a lucky customer like you takes the best chances." The merchant had no basis for calling Clark lucky but he used this line to bait many people. Clark looked young so he would definitely fall for it.
"Oh, well, if you insist. Then I want those two right there." Clark tossed another two gold before taking two more rings and leaving. He didn't even show that he was opening them like a few other people did. The merchant only thought Clark was too arrogant to think that he had something worth hiding.
"We are good to go. We don't need to shop for anything. I managed to find what we need." Clark took the thoroughly confused Maria and Brad right back to their camp where Grace and Reese were getting a lesson in proper tent set up in relation to fire. Professor Wright seemed to be slowly teaching them how to maintain a warm tent at night without having to be too close to a fire at all.
"So?" Maria looked at Clark after they sat down. "Can you tell me what you thought?" Maria was about to burst. She knew that Calrk would only act the way he had when he saw something good.
"I saw a few details on the rings. This one is covered in tree sap. I thought it should have some supplies." Clark proved this by emptying the ring. There was wood, fire starting kits, full water pouches, some dried meats, and even a few fresh fruits and vegetables. The person this had belonged to had to have stocked up a lot. It was more than a single gold worth of supplies.
"That's great. We have a feast now!" Brad was reaching for food when he saw Clark grab the next ring.
"That's not all. I have some other things in these four. All the small details. How the rings are dirty, how they have some wear and tear, and how they shine makes me know what they might have inside." This was more or less made up on the spot since Clark was now just seeing the relations with his analysis. But he was sure that they had more than just made the gold he spent back.
Especially as he withdrew a shield for Brad.
