Chapter 266: Misty Illusion
Chapter 266: Misty Illusion
"So that's how Clark fights…" Jerold felt that he had just watched something amazing. However, he was still stunned to hear Clark mumbling about how he was missing this and that or he could improve here and there. It was something that only those that could never be satisfied until they were perfect would do.
"This is basically why he is an elite among elites. Right? He made so many rumors start over and over again. I bet he doesn't even realize that even the upper years go around starting rumors about him to try and gain some power over things." Brad had heard his fair share of gossip. It was easier for him to hear things since people saw him as a defensive only tamer.
"You are both thinking too small. It's focus. Clark has a focus that other people do not have. He has his reasons but the main focus he has is to achieve a single goal. He would give anything to bring that goal to fruition. Can you say the same?" Maria who had been serious and kind was much different.
Neither Brad nor Jerold had seen her be sad as of yet.
"We can learn we promise." Jerold's immediate response made Ella look over and even Clark wonder what they had been talking about while he fought the hammer tailed lizard.
"I don't know what is going on but you need to remain as vigilant as Ella and Maria. Ella already has her beast in position to defeat the mole tunneling under you." The earth prince that Clark had seen from a body of just soil caused the earth to open up.
The hole that it opened revealed a surprised steel clawed mole that was stabbed immediately by the blue flame skeleton that Ella had just summoned from her taming space. The blue flame skeleton had used the bones on its arm to create a sharper edge since its fingers were already toughened by the high flames. This was how it would attack at close range which would terrify any creature.
The following burst of blue flames as it consumed and defeated the mole were even more terrifying. It appeared that the blue flame skeleton could burn up bones and even the bodies of other beasts as sustenance. It was a very unique way to grow energy that it could properly use to strengthen itself.
"Very good. You can rest a little while longer. I will need to use my own strength with my new weapon to defeat the next hammer tail lizard. Clark also wants to see the illusion skills of the spirit infant and the living mist." Ella looked at Clark who was just as surprised as everyone else. He hadn't even had the chance to ask Ella if she could show off her other beasts.
"She's right you know. You were waiting to see all of her beasts fight since she helped them move on to the next growth stage. They are pretty unique and powerful in their own right." Maria teased Clark a little but it was just enough to snap him out of his own thoughts yet again.
"Wait, what about me? I want to fight more. I need to so I can get stronger." Jerold looked at Maria wondering when he would have another chance. Ir annoyed Clark that he was only looking at Maria for orders but he could just brush it off as her being the main role model for an assassin type attacker.
"You can't beat a lizard like that. You can barely handle the moles without getting battered." Maria said this in one simple sentence. It was harsh, but true. Jerold was too weak just yet.
"I think I will focus on the ores around here. That mole showed off some good ones to collect." Brad just found a way out of the awkward situation and grabbed some of the ores around where the mole had been unveiled.
"Ella, we will follow your lead." Clark let Ella move forward while keeping an eye on Jerold. He had a strange feeling that this was not the last of Jerold's attempts to fight again.
"Thank you. The smaller paths are not anything worth looking at. They are dead ends after just a few feet. But we can continue down this larger path to find the target in which I will be battling." Ella had the living mist go ahead without anyone else's notice. It was even hard for Clark to catch a glimpse of it in the dim cave.
"Scouting and battle. I won't even be needed in the future when I have the best possible dining abilities." Maria pouted but was quickly given a shake of the head from Ella who fully supported Maria's slow but sure growth toward being an assassination specialist. The healing aspect was just an incredible bonus for their team.
The soft thud of a hammer tail lizard's footsteps made all of them freeze. It had only been a few moments since they left where Clark had fought a larger hammer tailed lizard. But the one that came in to view and seemed confused was about half the size of the one Clark fought.
"I have my living mist making it confused. It thinks that there is something in the corner of its eye. The only issue is that the living mist is far from a cloud king. It can not make solid forms from the mist.
It can also not create lighting as I have analyzed the cloud king to be able to do when it is at the full growth state." Ella seemed to want to see her living mist in physical form defeating a beast. Unfortunately, that was not what would happen today.
"Let me send my spirit infant out. It can boost the effects of my living Mist's illusions since they are both related to wisps. But even more, it can help me sharpen my mind while I use the new weapon I procured. It has been some time since I used this, It will be different than a little shield and saber or rapier."
Ella unfurled a rope like item from her spatial ring. Everyone looked at it with raised eyebrows. Ella was holding a whip. A weapon often only used to tame weaker beasts. But what made the whip unique were the small metallic parts on it. They were clearly razor sharp and had different patterns on each section.
A single swing of the whip started a mess of energies around them. "That's pretty amazing." Clark could only be impressed.
"Can you let me in on it too?" Maria was waiting for Clark to explain what was happening while Ella began the fight.
'Spirit whip- rare
This is a whip made with multiple elemental metals and different types of magic rune carvings on them. The reason for this is to disrupt most types of energy within whatever it strikes. Just moving it through the air causes disruptions.
When struck by this whip. the energies will become chaotic in whatever is hit. This can have multiple effects based in the type of item or beast struck. Most of the time, it will leave a long lasting stunning pain that causes a large amount of a beast's energy to bled in to the air.
This item has been passed down to the young women of the Green family as a challenge. They must take a weapon deemed weak by most of the world and use it to show everyone around them the true strength that they can wield with their minds and hard trained skills.'
Really, it's a family heirloom passed down to challenge the women of the Green family? That's so amazing. I bet that there are plenty of things like that for families. I wonder why Ella's older brother doesn't have anything like that?" Maria wanted to know more but Clark held back. He didn't want to tell her about the energy disruption effects that the whip had.
The slash of the whip caused the tougher scales on the hammer tailed lizard to crack. This was more dramatic than what Calrk had done. The earth energies poured from the lizard as the earth prince greedily absorbed it.
The spirit infant was directing energy between Ella and the living moist. This made the hammer tailed lizard nearly blinded by the living mist and Ella was able to act without worry. She had a perfect perception of the battle around her. So much so that she was able to get closer without having to be wary of the hammer tailed lizard's tail slamming down around her.
The flurry of whip strokes opened more cuts and shattered more scales on the hammer tailed lizard. It was as if it was slowly falling apart. But some attacks didn't do any damage proving that Ella still needed a great deal of training with a new weapon. Not that this stopped the hammer tailed lizard from giving in to the injured and falling to the ground in front of Ella.
She only stood there and allowed her beasts to revel in their victory with her before she began to record the experience in her journals.
