Chapter 237: Join Us

"Wait, you have really heard of it before? What book!?" Clark's sudden outburst caused Shy to return to her disguise as a doll to the disappointment of Maria and Isa who were trying to reach out a finger to greet the little spider.

"Sorry…Shy, it's alright. I just got excited to learn more about you from a history book. We can ask Ella to share it with us and we can read it together.' Clark also saw the glare that Crim gave him when he scared Shy. It was very clear that Crim was going to be the hard core older brother here. Devi would be the more free spirited older brother. An interesting situation to say the least.

"I read it a few years ago. I was interested in beasts that were considered taboo. I received permission to read about them and found an old collection of human killers. Specifically, beasts that used to exclusively hunt humans. One of them was the puppeteer doll. Or to be more specific, a grown puppeteer doll known as the shadow queen.

It was named this after it took over an entire village and gained the ability to speak through its pawns."

Maria and Isa looked at Shy then at Clark. They had a lot of doubt in their eyes "I don't believe that Shy could be that dangerous. Yes, she is a spider and they are normally dangerous. But Shy is clearly a lot cuter and safer than many others." Isa was trying to defend Shy but Maria saw that there was danger.

"You think that after seeing her doll form and that she is fairly timid. But that is why she is dangerous. No one would suspect her to be scary or controlling. She can hide in plain sight while taking over a very powerful beast to attack and do damage. Or she could even take you over." This revelation from Maria made Isa want to step away from Shy. It was truly risky.

"Don't worry. We would never do that though. Shy will control beasts for us when we need it but unless we have to, I don't think we will need to worry. She is not a beast that is banned because she is thought to be extinct. And she can control humans…I will be worse than those we want to bring down." Clark could only think of how abusive it would be to use Shyama's skills to control others.

He would become an even worse villain than those he wished to bring down.

"That is only your thoughts. Even if you desired to control another person, it would fail. It is based on strength. This is a newly hatched beast. Your Shy is too weak to control a beast stronger than her. But in time it could protect us greatly.

It will also trick anyone that thinks the beast she controls is yours and not herself." Ella saw the benefits and was sure to lay out the downsides clearly.

"Depending on who I face, they might see my beast as evil. But I can manage that when I get stronger. They will be unable to say anything to me when I am able to stop them with Crim or Devi." Clark was sure that his other partners felt the very same about Shy. She was family and would always be family.

"So, what's the plan? I have a few ideas but we will need to start working now." Isa was sure that Clark would have a few things that he wanted to do. They had a little time before they had to go to the north. It wasn't that the journey would only take a day or two. It was easily a full week to the north. And that was without stopping.

"I heard that Ralph wanted help. I haven't seen the list but I bet that he is one of the eight that is going with the first years. He is a lot stronger than the basic first year students." Clark wanted to bolster the strength of their first year team first. If they did not, then they might not be able to take the win easily.

"He did, I can get him here faster. I bet if I say that Clark says he will beat you again in battle-" The sudden banging on the door was a signal that Ralph had arrived at the lab.

"And I bet that is the friend you are telling me about. Hot tempered. That seems to be correct. But he was prompt after Isa asked for that letter to be sent. The school has either improved their speed or he is quite fast." Ella had yet to actually meet Ralph. She just knew what Isa, Maria, and Clark had told her.

"Alright, the three of you can rest in my taming space. I have to do a little work. I will let you all out tonight if you want to play around ore. But I think someone needs to Give their new little sister a tour of the taming space. There is a lot of room in there now." Clark watched as Crim and Devi's eyes lit up. They had wanted to show Shy around since the second the egg appeared.

With the three returning to the edens end taming space, Maria opened the door to see that it was just Ralph and only Ralph there. "You couldn't have come back sooner? The tournament leave date is soon. We need to be ready. Since you and those two are on the list even though I am going to be the MVP in the tournament." The hottie attitude that Ralph had was still there.

But he was clearly stressed and had let it wear away at him. His eyes were a little shallow while he had less kept hair than normal.

"I was training with my mentor. It's good that you came. I want to get the entire team of eight together. That means there are four more students we don't even know that are part of it. But mostly, we need to strengthen our team. I want to win at all costs.

The rewards are supposed to be larger than normal." Clark made this clear. He was palling to win it all.

"Good. If you agree then we should get to work. I have become stuck with my partner. We can't get stronger." Ralph was acting like this was exactly what Clark was waiting for. However, Clark had just guided Ralph to bring this up faster. It was easier to meet Ralph's energy with a solid and calm energy that mellowed Ralph out.

"I opened my taming space and let it consolidate. Then I had to battle to see how we have changed…but then one of the senior students said that he would train me. It was going to be a perfect chance…he had a scorpion though and said he was delivering a message." The air in the room became much colder. It seemed that Ralph had someone become a target.

"What was the message and what did this scorpion beast do?" Everything about Clark changed. His entire aura became dark and dangerous. Ralph felt that he was looking at the true Clark before his eyes. The calm and knowledgeable mask that Clark wore was just that, a mask. This was the real Clark that strived to be stronger. The Clark that was out for revenge.

It was two different aspects of who Calrk was.

"He said that his young master would not allow trash first years that don't even belong in a family to stand on the same stage as him. And that there would be the same treatment of the rest of our team until the worthless one ended her life…" Ralph showed how he truly felt. He felt defeated. The poison he had endured for the sake of his partner was bleeding through to him.

It was the danger of any tamer that could not clear away that which failed their beasts.

"Show me the boar now. I will handle the Mourne family lackeys later. They will meet their ends in time." Clark saw that Ralph's eyes glinted with hatred. He had been a true underdog. Not from a rich or powerful family. He had literally crawled from the bottom with a powerful spirit beast to become an elite first year.

How could he let himself be pushed down?

"I will swallow my pride. You beat me once and that is fine. But I will not let them beat me. I don't want to remain at the bottom of the food chain even though I have done so much. Do you understand?" Ralph watched as the girls seemed to look only at Clark.

"Ralph, you and I come from a similar background. Low class families. The only difference is that the Mourne family's son killed my parents after abusing his power and beast. You are lucky that you are not the exact same as me. But I agree. They won't force us down.

Instead, we will force them down." Clark had long thought that he wanted to welcome Ralph in to their group. It was just the matter of timing and finding resolve.
