Spirit Taming

Chapter 210: Strike

Chapter 210: Strike

Sounds of battle were growing as the fallen orcs attacked the girls. Ella was using the water wisp to attack but also helping Isa make a stronger ice blade. The pair of them were able to add ranged water and ice attacks to their battle as well. This was simply the similarities in ice and water.

It was not just an impromptu attack that the pair had invented. They had figured this out once the water wisp had come together to become a high water wisp. Ella had understood that there was a great way for them to become stronger and take on opponents that they might not normally be able to face.

"Another ice spear!" Isa called for Ella to have her wisp send more condensed water from the rain toward her. In a single fluid motion, the water that was on Ella's rapier moved in front of Isa as if it was thrown. The result was a quick freezing spear of ice forming.

Isa just needed to hold out her hand to control and then propel it forward. The spear pierced the dense skin of the nearby fallen orc while the crystal golem used its spike to irritate the lower legs of the very same golem. The pain from the little golem's attacks and the spear hitting it caused the orc to become angrier with every second.

This was ideal since the distractions opened up a spot for Maria to attack. The open cuts from the crystal golem and the ice spear that Isa had created were the best place for Maria to attack with her poison coated dagger.

The instant that the numbing poison entered the orc's body was when that orc failed. The orc's heart was beating with adrenaline. This sped up the poison traveling through its body. Before they could even get close for another attack, the orc had fallen to one knew. Its anger was the only thing that was allowing for it to remain standing in any form.

The sudden rumble of thunder made the three glance at Clark. His battle was more and more intense. Crim had begun slicing the legs of the lightning orc with his claws. Every single time a small spark of lightning would cause his slime body to steam. It was the disadvantage of going up against a beast that could coat its body in its elemental energy.

Devi was having an equally tough time. The space between the lightning orc's attacks was too small to be able to bite the orc and drain away its soul energy. The chilling bite was causing too little damage leading Devi to use the shadow claws to deal any real damage.

Clark was also not faring well. He found that even when he used the most strength in a crescent moon slash, that he was barely curing away the thick skin of the orc.

This lightning orc had built up scar tissue and even more skin than the others. Just its size alone set it in another category when compared to any orc species. "Crim, change in strategies!" Clark shouted but Crim had already received the orders mentally through their bond. He knew exactly what Clark wanted him to do and was prepared for the drawbacks of it.

The flames began to gather in Crim's mouth as Devi began to distract the lighting orc more. Just as Clark thrust his spear in to the orc's leg, Crim exhaled a burning dark flame. Debi helped Clark jump back even further while the spear remained within the orc's knee, having finally pierced the skin causing major damage.

The lightning orc was covered in the decaying flames that Crim breathed out. The energy it took Crim to use this attack was not at all small. It caused him to feel tired and slow. The downside of this was that his battle prowess was lowered by a significant amount. But that was fine, Crim knew what to do.

As the Orc focused on the flames that were weakening its skin, Crim pushed himself to reach Clark and change forms in to the dragon styled slime armor. He could be. Red wings formed behind Clark and the start of a chest plate.

The transformation in to armor was not at all complete but with it, Crim would use the last energy he had saved to assist Clark. This was a loss of another attacker but a major gain to Clark since he would be able to move faster and attack from close or far range more easily.

"Its skin is weaker, we attack the stomach now!" Clark's roar of battle brought the orc back to its senses. The damaged knee was the last of its concerns as the lightning around its body became visible. Sparks began to shoot off to the ground before a yellow glow of energy overtook the orc's eyes.

There was a growing laughter from Devi as he saw that the orc had given up on any reason it had left. This was a lightning type berserk skill that empowered the orc's body. Devi knew this and did his best to hide away invisibly to distract with the core laughter skill he had.

It worked like a charm. The enraged lightning orc swung its fists around causing sparks of lightning everywhere he attacked. Once he stepped forward, Clark watched the spear fall free and the orc's leg break. The chance was given by the defiant attacks that Clark had done on a single place over and over.

"Devi! Spear!" The spear was snapped up by Devi and dropped in to Clark's hand. With the lightning orc's face right near the ground because of the fall, Clark attacked.

In one large leap using Crim's wings as a power booster, Clark used the falling moon pierce in the back of the orc's neck. The ripping sound of flash was all Clark heard over the thunder and rain. It made his entire body recoil. Unfortunately, the orc was still breathing. The spear was embedded in its neck but the orc was not going to fall so easily.

It sensed that it had a mortal wound and refused to go down alone.

Clouds above the tree began to rumble. The air became charged with lightning causing all of their hair to stand on end. The lightning orc shakily reached to the sky. In a single flash, Lightning struck the orc causing Clark and Devi to be thrown far away in to the base of the large tree.

Small trickles of blood fell from Clark's mouth as he tried to raise his head. He could see the charred body of the still standing orc. His spear had twisted and meted under the head of the lightning but remained within the neck of the now dead lightning orc. "Ha ahaha, that bastard didn't want to go down alone and fried himself." Clark's small laugh was one of victory.

He had triumphed over a tough opponent even though he had literally been blown back.

"CLLLLARRKK!!!" Maria's shout was only a whisper in Clark's ears. The lightning and thunder had deafened him for the time being. Clark even struggled to feel the hands of Maria as she began to treat the many scrapes and gashes from slamming in to the rough bark of the tree. She could only hope that she was able to heal the wounds fast enough.

Meanwhile, Ella and Isa increased their energy usage. They could tell that Clark had just been hit hard and this was no time to train. The water converged using a massive amount of energy from the high spirit wisp and high water wisp. The high spirit wisp was bolstering the water wisp's strength to create a large ice ax out of water.

The ice maiden completely separated from Isa to form the ice ax better. This left Ella and Isa to guide the ad as it fell to slice the head clean off a fallen orc's body that they had managed to knock down.

"Maria, take this healing potion. Ella is getting bandaged ready!" The rush from Isa and Ella could be vaguely seen as Clark felt himself slipping away. He had won his battle and seen his friends succeed. Now he would let them handle things as the lightning storm was subsiding.

Hours later, Clark felt a head resting on his shoulder. When he awoke, he found Maria had fallen asleep next to him leaning against a giant root of the center tree. Devi was nowhere to be seen and neither was Crim. Clark could sense them resting within the taming space safely. But he could also feel that there was something off about Crim.

Before Clark could try and sense what was different, the pain flooded his body. He found that the larger gashes from his injury were only partially healed while the minor injuries were fone. "You did a great job healing me." Clark knew it was Maria that had used all of her and Lit's energies to heal him. Now he needed to rest too.

Or he would have if Isa and Ella weren't catching on to him being awake.
