Chapter 204: Wake Up Call
Chapter 204: Wake Up Call
Seeing that Clark was getting to his room to rest, the three girls turned to one another. "So you said that Clark mentioned we should go to a dungeon before we have to deal with the class tournament?" Isa had been sure to memorize what Maria had mentioned to her.
"If you want a dungeon to train against powerful opponents I do not recommend the skeletal dungeon, the back water dungeon, or the wandering mushroom dungeon. They hold mass amounts of beasts that will attack all at once. The materials are also not in line with what we need." Ella had already taken out a list of dungeons available for them to rent for a day.
"Then we will need a dungeon that has beasts spread out here and there. Like one that we can go individually against or in groups of two or three." Maria knew that Clark was thinking of them when he wanted them to go to a dungeon. However, she had a feeling that he was also worried about passing the test he had mentioned Alexander would be giving him soon.
"That should be the werewolf dungeon, but that can potentially spawn an alpha that unites them. It is a risky dungeon. There is also the ogre dungeon but that is for those with more experience due to their healing ability. It leaves the fallen orc dungeon." Ella was still shining with the information she had. This was mostly due to the fact that she had been a student for longer.
She had gathered this information over time.
"I will contact the manager of the fallen orc dungeon. Maria, can you go to the library and record what you can about a fallen orc and a normal orc?" Isa watched as Maria nodded in response. "Then Ella, that leaves you to research materials we can gain from it. We will be ready when we get to the morning." The three girls split as Clark had already fallen in to slumber.
While he dreamed, Clark felt that he was not in a normal dream. His eyes opened and he was surrounded by small strings of shadow. They moved as if being plucked by unseen hands. His body felt as if someone was pulling him here and there. The same as being tangled in a loose spool of rope. It was somewhat suffocating.
Just before he could get any further, Clark shot up out of bed with a slight gleam of sweat on his forehead. He thought he had heard a crack. Or a breaking sound but found that his room was all the same. Devi had been resting on the taming space to better understand the energy he possessed. Crim was still digesting the baby dragon teeth and learning to create tougher teeth using his slime.
"What was that sound…" Clark turned his gaze on the skeletal forest within edens end taming space. The egg that was resting in a nest of bones had a distinct crack on it. Shadows seemed to be dancing around it. "It's not hatched but it's close…" Seeing that there was a change in the egg, Clark used the system to analyze it again.
'??? egg- unknown (hatching)
The extinct species has begun to reach out of its egg. It searches for the one it needs. For the catalyst that will bring it back to the world. It calls out for the shadows. It cries out for the one that shall allow it to breathe again.'
The ominous analysis felt more like the system was warning him. More like the system was trying to guide Clark to find the last materials the egg needed to hatch. "You are hiding things from me." There was an annoyed tone in Clark's voice while he cursed the system. He hated that it was not intelligent enough to respond to everything in a normal way. But he did have hope that it would eventually.
His thought process in this was broken as soon as he heard the knock on his door and the call of his friends. He wasn't sure what time it was but knew that they would not be here unless he was running late. Due to the worry of being late, Clark threw on clothes and opened the door quickly.
"Hurry up! We have somewhere to be." Isa tapped her hand on her hip waiting for Clark to get his butt out the door. Maria did her best to hold back a giggle since she found the situation amusing.
"What are we doing? Do we have a client? I know we showed off a lot yesterday but that's really fast.' The expectation of work was what Clark had decided was the reason for Isa's mood. But what he didn't expect was that Ella would hand him a detailed packet of information.
"We are heading to the fallen orc dungeon. It is a place where the outcasts of orc groups are sent. It is thought to have a special spatial connection to the high orc and wild orc dungeons found in the wilderness. This means no orcs breed in this dungeon but are constantly there.
It also means that it is a dungeon that must be cleared regularly." Ella's explanation made Clark even more curious as to what was going on. But he did not stop her.
"The fallen orcs have a strange hobby of breaking things. Especially stones to show their strength. This means many unique earth materials or rare gems litter areas where they live. They also have the skill berserk after they experience enough pain or are near death.
That means that their strength will double and their pain tolerance skyrockets." Ella was sure that Clark had memorized everything she said.
"So why are we talking about fallen rocs?" Clark had an idea but was waiting to hear what the others had to say.
"We rented the dungeon! You wanted us all to go to one before the student tournament and your private training with Alexander. That means we are doing it today. We even have the rest of the week off of class because of the tournament preparations. Ella researched materials, I found information on fallen orcs and Isa used the business funds to rent it.
Now we can register materials as business supplies, making them something to show off."
The news was broken because Maria could not contain herself. However, Ella and Isa had expected this. "So you should be ready for a battle. We are all going on on one with the fallen orcs. You will be able to defeat tough opponents. And don't even think about running off alone.
We are evaluating each other today too." Isa was sure that this would help them a lot.
They all had different fighting styles and needed to show off what they could do. "If we are evaluating each other then we will need to use my journals." Ella had journals for all of them. "I separated them based on what we had as strengths. I believe that it is easier to classify our strengths in writing. Then we can piece together the flaws in our styles."
"You know, If I didn't know you, I would feel like you were invading my privacy. But reading this makes me wonder how I have ever improved without seeing it all on paper." The impressed voice of Clark made both Maria and Isa also feel this way.
Having everything on simple to read pages organized it. This would help them realize what they needed to do and in what order. "By the way, while we are in a dungeon we need to be on the look out for darkness or shadow type materials. The egg cracked today and needs a catalyst for hatching."
"All ready? You are going to have three beasts before my midnight eel is even large enough to defend me properly." Maria's jealous attitude made Clark feel a little bad. But he couldn't control what the system had given him.
"Shadow materials? The fallen orcs are a depressed beast species. They were exiled for being weaker or mutated in some ways. There should be some with outlying energies such as darkness. We can search less explored paths for them." Ella knew that the outlying fallen orcs would be where such materials lived.
"Orcs are basically earth beasts, right? They have to be all physical. Shadows are less likely to be there." As far as Isa understood it, the orcs would not need shadow materials.
'That's correct. They are usually earth. But when they are different they could be exiled. The high orcs are pure earth while the wild orcs are more accepting as long as they are strong. Some elemental energies are seen as weak, wind, water, light, and dark. That leaves the wild orcs to use flames, earth, or unique energies." Since Ella had compiled all the information, she was a fountain of knowledge.
"So we have a chance at finding some unique orcs that can become unique materials when we defeat them. We will also face a multitude of variety when it comes to opponents." This was getting Clark fired up. He felt they were going to a great dungeon.
