Chapter 202: Little Fox

Chapter 202: Little Fox

"This is the guy with the dragon! Is it? Is that it!?" A younger boy ran right up toward the group and was pointing at Clark. Naturally, all four of them were surprised by the sudden commotion. Clark had expected one of the older passersby to challenge their evaluation skills.

"Yes it is. I told you he had a name though. His name is Clark and he is the one that helped me get my new partner." The girl that Clark had seen a while ago who had her beast egg stolen was standing right in front of Clark again.

"I see that the egg I helped you pick out has hatched. I hope that senior girl didn't trouble you too much." Clark remembered the situation. He had been very annoyed that an older student would force a younger one to give up a beast egg that they had chosen.

"Not at all. Once the contract was formed this little one has been mine. And the girl that hatched an ice imp was very unhappy. Apparently, she had to sever the bond and regress a bit to be able to contract a different beast. She hasn't even glanced at me when we were in the same dormitory."

"Clark, is this the girl we were picking out eggs and we saw the thousand shell crab?" Maria vaguely remembered Clark telling her about helping someone with an egg. Of course, Clark had told Maria the rest of the details later once they had been walking around. Maria thought that it was one of the better qualities that Clark had. He didn't let anyone in trouble just suffer.

"Yes this is. And it looks like she is just in time for us to warm up for a beast evaluation session. Now tell me, is this your younger brother?"

"I am! I want to be a dragon tamer too! My steel clawed hawk and I will climb mountains so that we can find a dragon egg!" the little boy showed off the young hawk that was clinging to his shoulder. The soft silver glint of metal was what made the claws on the hawk stand out even though it was young.

"Then how about this, I will give you some special instructions after I help your sister out again? If you follow them perfectly then you might be able to do more than just get a dragon egg. You might be able to defeat a few dragons." Clark had to hold his face because of the ration he got from the boy.

"Good with kids, I'm taking notes for you Maria." Isa whispered to Maria causing her face to become red. There was only one reaction that Maria had to this and it was a swift stomp on her toes. Unfortunately, all that did was make Isa dodge it and stick her tongue out at her embarrassed friend.

"I'm sorry, I can't pay you. I just wanted to say thank you again. I don't have the silver or gold to pay for a genius evaluation…" The girl immediately felt that she was being a leech. It was terrible to take things from someone that had already helped her and that she had not paid back.

"Clark already said her would. He needs to show off here because a lot of the adults are eyeing him right now. It is more than enough to pay him back by assisting in our research." Ella took the chance to confront the girl and her small white fox.

"Place your partner up on this stage. I am going to be a little dramatic. Need to draw a crowd." Clark gave a warning before calling out Crim. "Crim, give a small roar."

"It's the dragon!"

"Cover your ears quick. Crimson is about to roar." Clark placed his hands over the awestruck boy's ears just as Crim let out a guttural roar that drew all the surrounding attention to them.

"Hello hello hello! Welcome to Nova academy. We are beginning our top show of the day. Beast evaluation." Clark began to walk around the little white fox using more vibrato in his tone than anyone had heard him before. He was acting as a showman.

"You ask, what beast is this? A simple snow fox? An arctic fox? Is it just an albino fox? Well, that is what we are wondering. Is this little white fox devoid of potential or are there hidden tricks in its blood?" There was nothing like a small mystery to get a crowd caught up.

Clark could easily see that he had hooked a decent few people in this way.

"As you can see, the short hair here on the legs shows that it is a purer elemental affinity ice or snow fox. But the most common name you may find in some research journals is…the ice tailed fox!" the system had changed some of the analyses since last time. There was a lot more details that Clark had not seen. The reason? Simple, the egg had hatched and been guided by the girl that hatched it.

There was more potential because of their bond.

This brought an interesting theory to Clark's mind. Could the beasts change their potential growth paths just by being hatched by different people? It seemed like a solid possibility that if he could research and publish, it would make him infinitely famous. He would hold on to this for later.

"It's even more different than that though! It has been raised with diligent training around its elemental energy. That has helped it probably awaken the blood of its parents and their parents. This is a little fox with the potential to become a nine tailed blizzard fox! Rare, and very powerful.

Let's review plans and materials!" Clark was still showing off while Isa had begun a separate writing from Maria and Ella.

"Clark is a genius. Beast evaluation shows like this can bring business, publicity, and great research. Now I just need to calculate prices for how we will do things. Then I …perfect. I can also set up a suggested cost form materials in a plan." Isa was rambling on until Clark reached her.

"The materials list and costs please. Or were you just mumbling about that being an added service for fun?" His evaluation had ended without her even noticing. Isa had been in her own world where she was both creating a list of materials costs and also her ideas for making more money with this format.

"Oh, ummm….Here it is. All finished." Clark took it while smirking a little. He found Isa's flustered attitude to be hilarious but had to control himself while others watched. Isa on the other hand realized that she was being teased by her friend and was already vowing some revenge.

"The best training to develop its ice skills and energy absorption is to do it when the snow is here. That should be a few months. That means the best training right now is to work on your bond, physical strengthening, and most of all, the unique skill it has to bond with its tamer.

I am talking about the second form that only a nine tailed blizzard fox has in every stage of its bloodline when bonded with a tamer."

Clark knew that this fox would be the strongest beast this girl ever had. It was actually a surprise to him as well since he had not expected the girl would somehow already awaken the fox's bloodline and the egg would have it at all.

"The main skill this little one has is called Snow Priestess. It can overlay over the tamer giving her boosted physical, magical, and unique abilities. A wonderful battle and defensive skill that can save lives. You, ladies and gentlemen, are seeing the start of Nova academy's future star!" The growing crowd was eating Clark's act up.

It was only natural that the girl who had been helped initially was stunned. Not only by the crowd that had seemingly appeared out of nowhere, but also her own beast. The fox had great potential. Potential that she might actually be able to afford. With a little hard work she could make her beasts stronger in well thought out steps. Isa had outdone herself with the first list.

"Now, bring that little steel clawed hawk up here. I am still not ready and I have to make sure Crim sees his brother looking cool." The boy knew that impressing a dragons is tough. Dragons were prideful in the stories he had read.

That was why, when the little boy ran up with a serious face, he already had the image of a great dragon looking at them with an impressed demeanor. "I will help you to win over your dragon with all my strength!" The adorable scene was enough to attract even more people.

"Then we have our next challenge. Evaluation of this steel clawed hawk. A young but uncommon species that we all know can grow to carry five people!" Clark had gotten right in to it. He felt he was using a lot of energy. But he also felt this was fun. Showing off his talent to build up a reputation.

Building up his resources to become the strongest in the city. Then he would wipe away the Mourne family.
