Chapter 196: Path To Tougher Training

As much as they four wanted to watch the matches, Isa, Maria, and Ella were too overjoyed to do so with proper focus. This left Clark as the only one that watched the fourth year students. The only one that saw every beast they could use and began to gather who was against who.

Unfortunately, even that didn't last long. Clark was pulled away by Alexander to speak with him. He had a few things that pertained to the new situation the group was in.

"You really went and did it this time. Not only did you cement yourself as a target for the most powerful family in the city, but you also helped create a new family line. One that the Green and the Rolly family can use to bring their families together. Two allies that have not been able to bring their families together can now create a more powerful family than any other in the city."

The way this sounded was not good. It made it sound as if the Rolly family and Green family would use Maria to defeat everyone. To take the city by storm.

"They will not do such cruel things. They also made Maria the focus. The center of their new branch. She is the matriarch of their family. That puts them in the position to ask her what she will do with the name they came together to bestow. That also means that she will wield great power one day.

Power she can use to get her revenge and live with pride for once. I will handle any issues that come with that."

Hearing that Clark was sticking with his conviction caused Alexander to relax. "Good, that is what I wanted to hear. If I had become your mentor just because you were strong I would be wasting my time. I have you and Clara as my students because you both broke the normalcies of the city. Not just the academy."

After pondering this for a moment, Clark added to what Alexander had told him. "Then you should be ready for more. I angered General Mourne today, showed off that I was ready to start a war with General Mane, and finally, I added the Green family and the Rolly family to my allies list. Ella's older brother already met me."

There was a diabolical aura around Clark. His mind was already turning. He could see the potential he had opened up. Any issues that arose could be handled in some way while he began an exponential rise.

"You will be able to use the power of three families now. Add in my and Doc's standing…what a monster you will be." Alexander saw the massive material support that Clark would have.

"Don't go forgetting the Star city lord and his children. They are all on my side now. They saw that my friends are more than just stand ins. They are real people that fight for the things they care for. And in the future, that view will be remembered as they grow. Even if the Star City lord falls, his children will know us."

The pair just stood for a moment. So many things had gone their way. Alexander could live a little more freely. He could start the next section of training for Clark. He could begin changing a lot of what was going on.

"Tomorrow you will face your last seeding battle. You could lose and still be in the top eight tournament. Same with your friends. Ella is already ranked number three in her year as she is now. If he had taken more combat classes she would be higher.

Unfortunately, even I can not change that for her." Alexander knew that it was a very high chance that Clark would be going to another city to face the other academies.

"I will go, but I will bring Isa, Maria, and Ralph as the top four with me. We will compete with other backups on standby. I read the rules from last year. If I don't make it to the tournament one of them takes over. And even more, they may choose to expand the tournament to last longer. The city hosting can do that.

That's why four go from every class every year."

"Good! You have already caught on to the tricks the academies use to gain more from their nobles, merchants, and even people like me. You just need to get to some real training. Before you have that full class tournament, you will go to the same dungeon I went to as a child. Clara went there and so did my father. It's a tradition for every student being taught by myself and one day you."

Alexander left Clark with this thought. Clara had never mentioned this and he felt it was intentional. Why would she say this to him? Why would anyone even know? If it was a dungeon kept by a family it would be a major deal. No one would possibly know about it.

This left Clark full of more questions than anything. He tried to think about the things he knew of Alexander's beasts and how they might relate to this mystery dungeon. Unfortunately, Clark was coming up empty.

"Clark! Get your ears cleaned! We are leaving to celebrate tonight. Because the Star city lord is here, the academy is opening up the food storages. The kitchen staff are making street food and there will be an open square for the students to celebrate. It's a big deal!"

Isa had grabbed Clark to drag him back to Maria and Ella. However, before they were even able to move an inch they were faced by General Green and Mr. Rolly leaving. They intentionally cut off their path.

"You made a very risky proposition today. One that could have lost Miss Spirit, her new family line. But you gave us what we could not give ourselves. The Green family has worked with the Rolly family for years to sell the goods our geniuses create. Now we can be more honest with each other. As we come closer, we will allow you four to grow the Spirit family name.

When the time is right, we will join more openly."

General Green felt that this was the only way for them to move forward. If she did not do this the pressure from other families would only increase. The more either family protected Maria the more they would attack. The smaller families would fear a new power rising too fast.

"And as General Green says, I am thankful. Not only because I can see what joy my daughter has, but that she is not being force to be one thing. She is doing what the Rolly family does best. Uniqueness in business of their choosing. Just like I did and just as my sons do. Genius and unique paths.

Both go hand in hand. The required documents will be worked out tomorrow after your school matters. An assistant of mine will come with a new seal for the Spirit family."

"I will also be sending a few guards to escort the documents. Need to remain safe in trying times. I asked General Mane to be an impartial holder of our contracts." General Green and Mr. Rolly left after General Green told them this. It was good news all around.
