Spirit Taming

Chapter 195: A New Name

Chapter 195: A New Name

The many thoughts going through Maria's mind were too many for any one person to count. She could only turn around and look at both Ella and Isa who had already told her to do exactly what was being offered to her.

The three friends that Maria had made knew she lived in fear and depression. Being an outcast from a family, regardless of power, was something that could crush a soul. However, she had been cast from the Mourne family. The most powerful family.

As a result of this, she had seen things while in the family that were cruel if not downright evil. She had then been thrown away and taunted by the branch families that yearned for even the smallest attention from any member of the Mourn family. The Cain family being the main antagonist.

Now she had a chance to completely eradicate that name from herself. To change who the world saw her as. To gain some protection from those that hunted her. She had Clark, Ella, and Isa. they had done their best to help her rise. Now she had the chance to be called family by them in the open but their own family.

"I know this is an important moment and I know it sounds bad to interject. But I have a third proposal. Isa is already a sister to Maria. They battled and immediately began to chatter like birds of a feather afterwards. It was impressive to see someone as an enemy and a friend in an instant."

"Ella is quiet but when introduced to Maria, they share a great deal of conversation. The pair are intellectually unbeaten when it comes to recording their results. Their desire for knowledge will always outmatch mine. It inspires myself and Isa."

Clark made a few steps forward. "But you are missing the best thing. All three together are multitudes more powerful than alone or just as a pair. Asking to choose is an insult to both families." General Green and Mr. Rolly were curious now. Yet they did not show this.

They just waited with focused eyes and ears.

"Normally families come together because of marriage. But let's wipe that stereotype away. How about they are brought together by adoption? You both see the value in Maria's potential. You are both unique families that stand above many. You are idols that the young strive to achieve.

Why not offer both? Have Maria inherit the spirit of the two families. The Green family of Geniuses and the Rolly family of infinite business wisdom."

The proposition made the last bit of wood that held up on General Mourne's chair break away. The handles fell to the ground almost silently. He was not going to show any others the noise of his rage. He was powerful but knew that he would not escape this situation if he reached out to take back the power he felt was being stolen from him.

"You are Clark Stormwood. My daughter has told me about you. The strange boy with strange views about the world we live in."

"Ah, My Isa has told me as well. Clark, the unrivaled battle maniac that can memorize every single piece of knowledge he sees. Then create amazing new theories from even the smallest word of it. Some that even the author may not have realized upon recording it."

The two looked at one another then at Clark. "General Green, shall we create a new way to become united?"

"Mr. Rolly, I believe we should form a branch family here and now. As the young man said, Maria has a spirit that brings our youngest together."

"Mhm, then it's settled."

The pair spoke in unison, "Welcome to the family, Maria Spirit. You are always welcome within our households." The two retreated back toward their chairs. The headmaster had already had another chair brought for Mr. Rolly to sit in.

Clark didn't get in the way of Isa and Ella rushing to Maria who was completely frozen. Just a statue that had lost the ability to understand what was happening. Between the murmurs and new rumors being formed, there was one person who had their eyes burning in to Clark. General Mourne had found a very dangerous young opponent.

"It's always better to use words to unite people than to tear them apart with power. Only the evil should be met with power that could tear a man apart." Anyone that heard this would have thought Clark was just poetic or deep thinking. The only person that heard it as a threat was General Mourne who had begun to change the attitude he showed. He was a general. One with mighty power.

Keeping his face in public was very important.

"Weakness is not tolerated in my family. That is why there is none within it." His simple phrase was enough to bring a few shivers down everyone's spine again. But they could not penetrate the unyielding joy that had broken through to Maria's face as she realized she was finally free of the Mourne family name. It was a disgusting past. Not healed, but finally cut off from the roots.

She could grow in to who she truly was now.

Once her eyes turned to Clark, she couldn't help but run to him. The arena had begun to be cleared by staff members and fourth years students had lined up to prepare for their daily battles. No one could look at the four younger students any longer. That was why Clark was the only one that heard Maria.

"Why did you need to do so much for me? I still need to pay you back for helping me get in to this academy." Tears finally broke the seals that had held her back. Maria cried for the first time in happiness. She had never felt this way before.

"You know, I came here to meet them because I saw that they were shining brighter than the stars in the distance. Now I believe that they are getting closer to us. As if the sun itself is trying to walk upon the surface of our world." The star city lord had many things he felt watching all this. He had gained more than expected.

"They are more than that. I don't mean to argue, but they are more. Something seems to be in motion that will change the city as you see it. If it remains in the next few years, then please support it." The headmaster replied to The Star city lord with confidence. He had never seen such amazing students. Students that exceeded even the smallest expectation he had.

"I will promise that then. In the meantime, please have the gifts I brought to them. They impressed me in my city and now again in your city. Not many have done that in my life. And I have seen a few odd things." The Star city lord looked troubled. He had not always been a lord with a powerful beast.

He had not been handed the city by his family. He had grown and raised to be a lord. He had cleared countless dungeons. Fought tooth and nail to get where he was and stand to represent one of the best cities he could ever know of.
