Chapter 193: No Materials Needed

Clark had taken one glance at the mermaid beside Olivia. He knew that she was in her human form and that mermaids had two forms. They were very unique beasts that were considered nearly the same as humans. It was rare for a human to have one and even rarer that they would pledge loyalty to one unless they were a spirit beast.

Mermaids often lived in the deepest waters of the oceans and sometimes traded with humans. They were still beasts but had a great deal of intelligence when compared to other beasts. That was why they were rarely considered as a beast and more often as another sentient race.

"There is nothing we should do for you beast, any materials we give with would be an insult to the mermaid species. It would also dull your future." Isa, Maria, and even Ella were mortified to hear Clark say this. He had flat out refused to offer materials for a growth plan.

Olivia's face fell and became a little annoyed. The red cheeks she had just showed more that she had taken this as an insult. "Before you get angry and throw a tantrum you should ask why." The Star city lord saw that Clark had a small twitch on his lips. Just enough to tell the world that there was more to what he knew.

'Mermaid- ultra rare

The mermaid is considered a near equal to other sentient races. However, they are very instinctual beasts that would never give up their connection with the oceans and seas. This has them deeply connected to their beast side keeping them as a sentient beasts rather than equal race. However, many races believe that they are equals nonetheless.

The mermaids can grow in to many slightly different forms that require specific training and minimal material investment. This is due to their intellect. Some can become spear wielders, aquatic trident users, assassin merfolk, and other such growth. But there is one more powerful.

The royal mermaid is the mid level growth of the merfolk princess and finally the merfolk queen. This mermaid has the potential to grow in to such with the right training and guidance. The first step would be to…'

"As father said, what can you tell me to make my partner stronger." Olivia was a little crude proving that in her younger age she had still not been able to develop as much thick skin as others.

"Now that is what I wanted to be asked." Clark stood tall and motioned for Maria to begin writing. "The reading I have done to prepare to go to Star city had many beasts. Many that had powerful water affinities like your mermaid. However, the mermaids intrigued me so I went digging for knowledge. I found a lot."

"Some things were useless because they were about the basic growth that required only training and minimal material investments. That made me curious. Why would that be the case? Well, it comes to intelligence. They learned skills that made their internal energies change. They still had similar affinities but different uses for them.

That is why you see slightly different forms of mermaids when they grow. What do you think would happen if you trained your mermaid only by investing materials?"

"So you're saying that my mermaid will be weaker than others because I will train it by forcing it to absorb water energy? Isn't that how I will get a strong fighter?" The mermaid was holding on to Olivia's clothes at the moment. She was listening closely, she wanted to see what happened.

"I am saying that you have given the energy but only considered strength. What you have missed is that there is a ruling class of mermaids. Of merfolk overall. How do they become royal mermaids? How do they become the princess mermaid? How are mermaid queens and merman kings born?

How do they grow to be this?" Clark made everyone who was watching stunned in silence. They had never asked such questions. Mermaids were too rare to figure it all out. No one experimented with such things.

The question had spurred conversation among the research students around so that they could pool their knowledge.

"As I read, there is a ceremony for the young mermaid that are born of the royal mermaids. They bathe in the moonlight of a full moon. They absorb the high tidal water energy of the ocean and allow it to affect their internal energy. It is considered a coming of age ceremony for the mermaids. So, what not bring your mermaid to do that?

I ensure that following the plan I record here, that it will grow in to the royal mermaid. After that…princess merfolk and queen merfolk are possible. But they will be harder because of the materials and ceremonial requirements."

It was like someone had just dropped a pin. Clark could hear even the hearts eating it was so silent. The entire place was completely under his sway. The knowledge that had been learned out of basic books would be ignored like this. However, when interpreted differently, an entire growth plan had been discovered. One that people had been blind to.

"Your perspective seems to be very different from the others in the world. I will test this with my daughter in a few days. What can we do to ensure that you will record the full plan to get her to become a queen merfolk?" the star city lord seemed to be reveling in this conversation. The generals no longer existed in his eyes.

As far as he was concerned, he was alone with Clark having a rousing intellectual discovery.

"Of course, I will share this with you. I have my team here to help me record everything we learned. After a few moments, we will have it all set up and ready for Olivia to study with her partner." The mermaid's eyes had opened like saucers. She had just been told she could be a queen. Something she had only been told about in stories that Olivia read to her while being educated.

"Then I will step back while you work. I would not like to be the reason you are behind." The Star city lord watched carefully while the four came together.

The whispers of Clark telling Ella how to alter her sketches and the theories that he provided to Maria were all ground breaking. Every research student would kill to see the full plan written out based on the point of view they had developed.

"As you can see, the research on mermaids was small. But it was all perspective. We four came together to create a beast analysis business because we are able to look at something from all angles. What have we done as a human race? Looked at the world from one view. That's it.

We will be changing many things in the future. Everyone is allowed to come and look for our guidance as we grow. The only people we will not have as clients are the cruel that use their power to bully others." Isa smiled widely as she made a bold statement.

After another fifteen minutes of furious writing, Clark handed a stack of papers to Olivia who quickly sat on the ground and began to read. The intensity in her eyes proved that she could care less about appearances. Her entire being was focused on this and only this.

"You seem to have more than stood out when it comes to your minds. Thank you four for allowing me to impose my children's beasts on you. I chose right by keeping my eyes open when it comes to young talent. I believe that when Star academy and Nova academy face each other…well, many people will learn lessons this year."

"I would have expected that these four would not do so well. I am blown away by the geniuses that have begun to create a new path with my daughter. I almost feel foolish bringing a beast egg to challenge you to identify since I have not shared it with anyone else. It was a challenge that I believed you would fail but would learn from.

Now I may be the one proven wrong." General Green looked like she had seen a glimpse of the future just now.

"General Green, Please add your challenge to the podium here. I will have every student try and identify the egg you brought. We have shown off the geniuses of the academy to our guests and this is the perfect way to process. We have the senior battles coming up, so we might use this as a segway to bring in more students." Doc saw the chance to take some pressure off Clark's group.

Certain eyes had begun to glare at them.

Clark watched the egg be put down and was about to mention to Maria what he thought. However, he was surprised to see that she had already taken a step forward. She had an extreme focus on the egg. He felt that he would be holding her and Ella back if he even tried to give them an answer. They had been inspired.
