Chapter 184: Don't Hold Back!
Chapter 184: Don't Hold Back!
Headmaster Markus was still having some trouble wrapping his head around the fact that four of his students had somehow managed to meet and bond with the Star city lord. "I swear, ever since I got older, these kids have gotten wild." He had been sitting at his desk with a fresh stack of paperwork for hours now.
"Headmaster, the students and Alexander have arrived." The secretary working for the headmaster opened the door and ushered the four inside with Alexander coming in last.
"I have been waiting to see you. I am sure you know why?" The expectant look was met with nods from all four.
"They received a letter from the Star city lord before we did Isa can show you it." Alexander looked at Isa who quickly did so. There was no fooling around today.
"Hmm, I see. So he wants a beast analysis from all of you specifically. I wonder how you managed to impress him so much? That is not what I would expect from the Star city lord. However, I have only met him a few times. Luckily, we were able to receive an official letter saying we would need space for such a thing.
Do you know what that means?"
The headmaster had been fairly calm and cool when Clark had first met him. This was no different. Yet, Clark had the feeling that there was more tension in the room than there should be. It was just the feeling that somehow, they could get in trouble at any moment.
"Yes, they will be meeting the generals and headmaster. Multiple important figures will be there." Clark spoke quickly. He had a feeling that he could gain a lot from this meeting.
"Good, so Alexander let you know. Then you must also have gathered that as first year students and one third year student, you have broken the status norm of the city and the academy. Two who have familial excellence and two who do not are here before me. Together they have attracted the highest figure in another city.
That will make waves among the political powerhouses." there was an ominous aura in the air as this was said.
"But Nova academy will protect you. Headmasters will always do so. That means my beasts will be able to protect you. I a not the headmaster for no reason. But that will come at a price. The nobles will want to dig their claws in you.
Steal away the Green family single lady, capture the Rolly family merchants, use the Mourne family exile as a bargaining chip, and of course guide the poor commoner to greatness using their family name."
Alexander let out an exhausted sigh as the headmaster explained these things. He knew the conversation would go here but hated politics and family names. They only made things more troublesome. "That means that all of you can gain a lot or lose a lot. The best way to do this is to remain respectful and do your best.
If you need help Doc should have already said that he would be there along with some fourth years."
The pause between speaking was shared by a harsh look with Alexander and the headmaster. They seemed to already have an alternative plan they had spoken about. "We don't want that though. You could take the easy way. Yes, the easy way is the safest to keep you alive and growing faster." Alexander halted his speed as the headmaster picked it up.
"I would prefer that you four show off immensely. I want Star city and Nova academy to become like knotted rope. Show off our strength. Give them something amazing to see and relish. Then when all the nobles, generals, and fools see your strength….Well, we will take whatever we can from them to grow every single student of the academy."
"You're talking about the upcoming student tournaments!" Isa caught wind of what the plan was. Her amazing business brain picking up the underlying desires of both the previous headmaster Alexander and the current headmaster Markus.
"Quick to pick that up. Yes. I want them all to sponsor the tournament that is held at the very end to find our representatives. As such, the more you impress them, the more tempted they will be to offer rare rewards that only their families have access to. Especially the rare beast eggs bred only by their families."
There was a wave of understanding that went through all of them. Alexander and the headmaster were geniuses. The support of all the major families and the generals was hard to get. But offering up something like four genius students as a reason to add support was brilliant.
Not only would the families and four generals look amazing as they supported the youth, but they would also set down lines to potentially recruit the best students. This would also begin a longer connection with the noble families and the Nova academy. It would be easier for the academy to grow and access unique dungeons for the students.
Easier to go to restricted wilderness areas that the families owned.
"Then how do you want us to do this." Maria had been holding on to the edge of Clark's uniform. He knew she was worried since many members of her family would be at this event. The weight of that was hitting her. However, Clark knew that he had to power through and stay in front of her.
"You will be prepared with the best beast plans for their beasts. The Star city lord has three sons and one daughter. I am sure his letter said he wanted beast plans in some way. I will most likely bring all four of his children." The headmaster was well informed. More so than any of the four of them knew. They did not know that the Star city lord had four children.
"We will have materials prepared to use for whatever is needed. Especially if we can demonstrate what they can grow in to on the spot. The flashier the better. Just remember, this is an investment. If it is done wrong…" there were too many hidden traps in the headmaster's last words. He wanted them to be better than they had as of yet.
"Don't worry about us. Just have the rare materials ready. I will show you beasts that you do not expect. If you want flashy, then Ella and I will have the perfect growth plans. Maria will have the most detailed explanations ready, and Isa will be narrating the greatness of our actions." Clark's devilish smile showed that he had decided to dominate this challenge.
"Then you are dismissed. Pick up the rain spring water on the way out. All of you can consume one mouthful to help sharpen your minds. Speak of that to nobody." The four were pushed from the room and a secretary handed them each a cup. Alexander had remained within the office to speak further with the headmaster.
'Rain spring water- rare.
The spring that this water pools in is called the rain spring because the spring is a magical location where the clouds cause the rain to gather and fall in to a single small pool. This water is unique because it can sharpen the mental focus of anyone that drinks it for one week. The only downside is that this water takes a year to fill one cup of high quality rain spring water.'
"Drink it, please. The headmaster says there is no other acceptable response." The secretary smiled sweetly but her eyes said that she was not afraid to use force. The secretary of the headmaster would understandably be powerful. So much so that she could easily induce fear in any student that stood before her.
"The water is good for you. Just drink it." Clark gave approval which allowed everyone to relax. It was clear that he was the leader whether he liked it or not in this endeavor.
The moment the rain spring water touched his tongue, Clark felt the world opening to him. His mind was free of so much weight.
Exhaustion and stress evaporated. He could only think of what he was planning. This was the same for the others. Maria was making the most headway though. "If we go and impress the Star city lord again, my family will hate it. They will be furious.
It might be perfect." Maria had been afraid originally. Her family would surely try and kill her for this.
"You are right. They will want to take the credit for your actions in befriending a city lord. In having genius friends by your side. Unfortunately, you will renounce them openly. You don't need to have their filthy family name."
"Clark's right. You should be adopted in to my family. If you allow me to speak with my parents I can make it happen. You know that the Green family already has issues with the Mourne family. We will gladly support an exiled genius daughter." Ella surprised them all. This was not like her.
It was out of nowhere. Yet it did make a lot of sense to protect Maria while also landing a blow against an enemy.
