Spirit Taming

Chapter 178: Growing Fire

Chapter 178: Growing Fire

"Why did you get lucky? Don't tell me you barbed someone with the gold coins we made!" Maria felt that Isa had gotten too lucky. So much so that she might have used some sneaky means to win.

"I would never do that. I thought he was just going to bait me to attack then bring out another beast. I followed Clark's advice too. That made it very easy." Isa stuck her tongue out at Maria causing the two to begin to bicker back and forth.

"So, Ella. You said that you have a beast ready for your match?" Clark wasn't sure what to expect of the older students. The third years had much more experience behind them making their battles tougher. There was also the fact that they had more powerful beasts from constant growth.

"I do have my match today. There are fewer students in the older years, so I only need to win two battles to qualify for the tournament of the third years. But that isn't the main part. I have analyzed the growth plans and decided which wisp to grow. It is already done as well."

"I didn't expect you to move so fast, when did you go through the growth process?" Since Ella was a genius within her own right, Clark expected her to jump ahead again. However, she had done more than just that, she had begun a unique growth path for a wisp that was often not done. One of four that she would be doing. Maybe one of five.

"Last night officially. It took more than two days to gather the materials. Doc insisted on remaining awake to watch it. I also developed a more in depth plan to open a self created unique taming space for wisps. I have spent the last two years on the theory and finally have the plan proper. Before the main class tournaments end, I will have it completed.

Then when I win, I will open my taming space fully." The high wisps showed itself for a moment before drifting back in to the background.

"You contracted five high wisps, four of different elemental types and one pure spiritual type. Ella, do you know how incredibly rare that is without a taming space?" Since this was an achievement many times above anyone their age, Clark had to ensure that he made it clear.

"It is just a step in the plan. All of you will have beasts much stronger if I do not proceed this way." The slight tinge of red on Ella's cheeks proved that she was indeed proud. She just couldn't admit it until they had reached their group goal.

"Wait, Ella! What time is your match today?" Maria realized that Ella hadn't told anyone what time she would be battling. It was still early in the day but there was a lot left to do.

"In five minutes. Follow me there." Ella walked away calmly while all of them froze.

"Five minutes!? We have to run." Isa tried her best to push Ella faster but it was impossible. Ella made it to her arena just as the referee was calling for her and her opponent to enter the arena.

"Use your weapon too. I don't want to see you avoid a fight." Clark was sure that Ella had trained enough to be comfortable having someone with her rapier and shield. It would be perfect for her.

"No one knows I can use a rapier. I only ever fight with my wisps. It should be held back." Ella half whispered this as she stepped in to the arena.

"Tyler Moore against Ella Green. Please take your stances." The referee that had been waiting was a little rushed since he saw both of the participants come to the arena last minute, he felt it was disrespectful and just wanted this match done with.

"This time I have the perfect chance to beat you and that little wisp army." Tyler had faced Ella before. He had lost to the overwhelming numbers that her wisp could call on. Many people had. Her genius had been well publicized.

'Green vine beast- rare

The green vine beast is a beast that is born as a small egg within a dim forest. The energy it gains causes it to take root in the ground and pull dark, earth, and water energies from around it. This has shaped it in to a rooted beast that can attack under the earth or with the body it has developed.

Due to harsh training, the vine beast is able to uproot itself and take the form of a large wolf made of sharp vines. This is the secondary stage of growth for the species before it becomes a vine champion.

The vine beast is known for the decaying poison it has in the spines of its vies, the quick regenerative powers of its vines, and the unique triple typing it has. Unfortunately, it is weak to fire because of the light and heat that wears away at its vines. The best materials to grow…'

"Unfortunately for you, my research has advanced quite a bit since our last battle." The pale blue flame burst in to sight in front of Ella as she stood calmly. This is a blue flame wisp. It is the condensation of every fire wisp you saw in my so called ''little army''."

The referee saw the beasts ready, "Begin the battle!" His rushed battle start didn't faze Ella and Tyler. Yet, it did show off the fact that they were both experienced tamers who could face opponents at any time.

"Show them the blue flames you use to clean up your enemies." Ella raised a hand and pointed at the vine beast. She knew this was an easy fight that could show off her new strength.

"So she helped the high fire wisps grow first. Blue flame wisps will be the one that has the path to become a skeletal general, or undead general, or my favorite, the blue flame commander." Clark had decided the different growth paths and was smitten with the blue flame commander due to the fact that it would be a powerful fire and undead typing.

"Use your thorns to treat it to pieces. I will crush Ella!" Tyler roared out while brandishing a simple wood ax. He had the ax made to match a woodcutter ax so that it went with the plant theme of his beast. Many tamers would do such things.

The blue flame wisps just floated for a moment as the vines shot from the ground and the vine beast sprinted forward. This double pronged attack was made to cause chaos to the many wisps that Ella would bring and target the strongest. However, it still caused confusion.

As the vines attempted to slap at the blue flame wisp, the ashes began to gather in the air. Everything that attempted to touch it would burn up instantly. "Did you know that blue flames are actually hotter than red flames? Even hotter would be white flames which would burn the air around them.

Lucky for you, this is just a blue flame wisp." Ella started lecturing the few watching this battle and Tyler.

The blue flame wisp pulled sending a symbol ring of blue flames out toward the vine beast. Tyler was forced to duck under the ring while watching the vines turn to ash. His green vine beast howled out as it fell apart.

The only thing left was the bulb core of the green vine beast. The blue flame wisp had perfect control of its fire even after just growing stronger in to a different form. "And that is the reason that you will not win. I may not have many wisps now, but I have a powerful refined blue flame wisp." Ella walked off the arena after seeing the referee begin to announce her victory.

The fact that Tyler could not even face the heat of the blue flames was clear. If he even attempted it he would perish.

"That was amazing! You mastered the blue flames and showed off your new growth plans!" Isa was very proud and hugged Ella immediately. Maria held back just still rushed to praise and congratulate her.

"Clark created the final plan. I just adjusted it to suit me and my partners." Ella showed one of the few smiles that was not purely research based. She was happy to see her achievements taking form.

"That was a great battle!." Clark could only agree with the consensus.

"I am very glad that I came to watch this. I thought that I would be a little too late." Doc had purposefully come to watch with a group of professors. "I took the liberty of showing you off to my fellow professors. They wanted to ask me to create a growth plan and I instead wanted you four to do it.

It would be a perfect learning process for their students in the advanced battle classes for Ella's fellow third year students." Doc looked like he had deeper plans but no one would argue.
