Chapter 177: Small Advice
Chapter 177: Small Advice
"I just don't understand why my battle is the first out of all of us. I have to fight some guy we don't know. It is ruining the flow of our business. We have had fifteen clients in the last day and a half. That is a massive start that we could continue." Isa was rambling as Maria and Clark dragged her to the arena where her battle had been scheduled.
Even Ella was behind her pushing Isa along because she had tried to skip it. "You three are going to be the top in your class. I will also be unveiling my new beasts later. Especially since they have been grown and fused properly." Ella knew she needed to use some logic to help Isa. The growth of Ella's beasts were a major business advertisement for the group.
"And if you don't do this, you will have less credibility. If you show off weak beasts…well, I would never come to us for a growth plan." Clark three the last attack at Isa.
"Fine! Let's just do this.'' They were all glad to finally see Isa take the lead toward the arena she had been scheduled under. It was one of the small arenas since the larger ones were set up for the older students to battle.
The number of students there to watch were few in numbers. This was mostly because people would show up to the best of the best or to the older students' battles. They were more exciting and would teach them more. Especially since the older students had exponentially more battle experience.
"This Henry kid better be interesting." Isa equipped her small dagger and began to get in to the right mindset.
"His beast is weak on the second rib from an old injury. Hit it there with an ice attack. Use the fire after to blink it." Clark let Isa walk away barely hearing his advice. The beast he was looking at was next to a thin boy who was not as well trained compared to Clark or the others in the group.
'Agile coyote- common
The agile coyote is a beast known for its lithe movements. They are also pack beasts that stick to large groups. Naturally, they have light bones making them weak on their sides and often injured on their ribs when they are struggling to learn to walk.
Their teeth are sharp and have an anticoagulant effect due to their saliva. This will make their prey bleed and become weak. They often hunt at night so the bright lights of the day can easily blind them. Their hearing is…'
The analysis of this beast was enough for Clark to give Isa some good advice. Many beasts had traits like this that helped and hurt them. The coyote was exactly the same. It had light and weak bones so that it could move faster. The major drawback was that it often got hurt when learning to use its growing body.
The sun being a weakness was the same for any nocturnal beast. They were either blind and didn't need the sun or their eyes were sensitive to it because they were often in the dark. A beast with this simple weakness was always a stressful beast to train unless done at the right time or place.
Watching as Henry backed away from the coyote and stayed near the edge of the arena proved he was very inexperienced. The coyote didn't even get orders, it was just left to battle on its own whims.
"Referee, please begin the match." Isa fused with the ice maiden and the flame sprite. Their energies formed the magic she would be using. The spiked crystal golem was still too young to fuse with Isa. instead it took position in front of her to defend. It would not allow its master to take any damage.
The surprising part about a golem was that they lacked greater intelligence. Most would be unable to speak or make certain decisions. Yet, when Isa had connected with the spiked crystal golem properly, she could feel that emotions fluctuate within its core. The spiked crystal golem held a sense of loyalty and protection for its master and fellow beasts. Therefore it was ready to defend at all times.
"Ten seconds and I will do an extra growth plan today before we go home!" Clark's last shout was mirrored by Maria. She was willing to gamble this as motivation for them to encourage Isa.
"You said it and can't take it back!" The greed glinted yet again In Isa's eyes. She was sure that she could talk them in to three more after she won. "Let's do this." Isa always tried to encourage her beasts and herself. This small act meant a lot to her before an important battle.
"Begin!" The referee called out for the two to begin.
Not even a breath later, the coyote attacked in a sudden burst of wind. It had this elemental typing along with the breeze dash skill. This made the crystal golem swing out with an arm. The sudden obstacle caused the coyote to squeal in pain. It had not expected the spiked crystal golem to move.
"Now we move!" Isa flung an ice needle at the side of the coyote. The resounding yelp was even more pain filled as the coyote cursed her out. The following growling would have made any weaker person shiver in fear. It was the pure rage that anyone felt after being harmed.
"Growl all you want!" Isa shouted out and a burst of embers bloomed. Her hands had been moving to gather the fire elemental energy while she was stepping to the side from the coyote.
The blinded coyotes swing its head around while using its ears. This was not the first time it had hunted without eyesight. It would not be the last. Unfortunately, this battle was about to end.
"Hold it with your spikes!" The order was enough for the golem to chase and capture the coyote's full attention. This gave Isa the open target for three more ice needles. The best attack she had when she was fused.
Ice needles were a small icicle like attack that Isa could quickly make and send at an enemy. The ice maiden fusion was unique in the way that it allowed her to use an attack that an ice maiden used directly. Even the relationship with the flame sprite was not that powerful.
The coyote howled in pain before falling to the ground. "How long was that!" Isa shouted at her friends on the outside of the arena.
"Nine seconds and three quarters of a second. I was counting." Henry shivered a little in the corner of the arena. He was not a student here to be a beast tamer that could battle in the wilds. Unlike many others, he was here to become a scholar. This battle was already too much for him and his book fetching partner.
"The winner is Isa from the elite class. Congratulations miss Isa, your next match will be posted by your main professor." The referee had expected this. He always felt bad for the non combat students during these events.
"Thank you. If I need someone to help me in the library I will ask for you, Henry. Also, have Clark look at your coyote, it needs some better food." Isa strolled off the arena with a smile. She hadn't had to work too hard but she also recognized the luck she had to be against a non combat student right away.
