Spirit Taming

Chapter 165: Kind Of Home

Chapter 165: Kind Of Home

It was very rare that a student was expelled from Nova academy. Even the weakest that had fallen to the lowest classes had some power to stay in education. Even worse, Doc had stated that the two Cain family members would be unable to return to the city at all. They would be seen as fools that disrespected the very safety of their city and their family.

Some large families would have argued this. However, when it comes to a dungeon break and imminent danger, things were different. Causing more damage during a dungeon break was ground for execution let alone expulsion or exile. Not many had the authority to do these things. Doc was not necessarily someone that could flat out exile someone.

What the students didn't know was the depth of Doc's power. He had lived within Nova academy researching for many years. The things he had discovered for their city and academy were too grand. In comparison, his sister and his research were small things if brought next to the other things he had done. This not only gave him more authority but more privileges such as exiling someone from the city.

After seeing what Doc was capable of, Ella had fallen in to a documentation spree. The fire bird had remained close to the carriages while traveling giving all the students the perfect chance to learn. Meanwhile, the others that were watching for danger had kept an eye on the firebird as well.

Clark knew that Devi was not a flying type beast. He didn't have wings or elemental attacks. What he could learn was minimal. Learning was important though, a powerful beast could show small things like their instincts. The instincts a beast had and how refined they were could be the difference between life and death.

"Home is just on the horizon," Doc announced this with a tired tone. He had still remained aware of everything around them for the entire night and day. It had been too long without sleeping. He, as a researcher, was used to some of these things. Unfortunately, he was not a young many anymore. He felt the weight falling off his shoulders and the chance to rest finally.

As they approached, the merchants handed over small chests with materials in them. They could care less about the price, they had watched Doc's fire bird annihilate the plague fly with a single attack. The small swamp flies had been burned away by Isa. overall they were glad to survive since they would have perished while facing these beasts.

"We have heard of the situation. Has anyone here come in contact with the outbreak of beasts?" The guards that rushed forward stopped the caravans and carriages. They had to make sure that not a single swamp fly egg made it in to the city. Even if it was tamed it was very dangerous.

"We defeated multiple swamp flies without contact and a single plague fly without contact. Bring your guard captain to me so that I can explain the two students that were kicked from Star City but also should be banned from entering our city if they dare attempt to come here." Doc had some steel left in his system to hand out the information that he had about the two Cain family members.

The guards ushered the students in while Doc remained behind. The fire bird continued to follow them while Doc gave a slight wave. "So that's it." Clark wasn't sure what to do now.

"For now. We will have to see how things come together." Isa had been handed the list of materials that the merchants had handed over. They had been very thorough when giving things. Doc had given everything right to her to handle. She would do so fairly with Ella's help.

"I will organize this when I get home. I just want to lay down and sleep for a week." Isa decided that it was best to do everything once she was fully energized. Looking around, she didn't see anyone that was objecting.

"Clark, Maria, Isa, Ella. Get off that carriage now and come with me."

"Alexander…I should have expected this." Clark knew that something like this would happen. There was a dangerous situation that had caused a lot of turmoil and would be doing so for a while.

"Well?" When Alexander saw the four of them jump from the carriage and stand before him, he was ready to hear what they may or may not have learned.

"We gained a lot from Star City. Maria has a new beast to hatch, we have many materials, gained the favor of the city lord or mayor and we have a lot of business done. We also had some ideas about how we should train in the future along with opening or improving taming spaces. Maria even opened her spiritual sea taming space. It is a little unsteady though."

Alexander moved and looked closely at Maria. Lit had left the taming space while the two of them were still getting used to it. This meant that the taming space had not had time to properly settle in. Lit also had not perfectly acclimated to it.

"You will be resting for three days. You will not be going anywhere or training anything. You are allowed to read and take notes. Nothing more." Alexander was harsh about this. He had to be so that Maria would not cause any damage to her soul and Lit while abusing the unstable energies within her body.

"Yes sir…" Maria didn't argue at all. She knew that these orders were for her and Lit's benefit.

And, your second beast. You can research about it while you prepare to hatch it. If you give it energy to hatch it now you will become very sick." This was well known. If someone did not have stable energies within their body and they contracted a second beast it would be very damaging to the soul.

"You, I know that you have some interesting beasts. You may research but do not go off creating new ones just yet. There are materials you found that are foreign to your current studies. As much as you desire to try everything, it is a waste of time without more knowledge." Alexander looked at Ella next and pointed at the research and library.

"You can go there to discover the current standing of your beasts in the research world. Then you can create a potential plan."

"Lastly, your family is worried about you. They were ready to hire an entire team of tamers to go and find you and your older brother. Go and see them so that they can relax. All of you go now! But Clark stays here." Alexander watched the three girls leave in different directions. He wanted Clark alone.

"You faced a beast that had a high risk of killing you. Now you will do it again. I will send you off to a dungeon that I picked out for you. It's time to train properly before we start the tournament selections. If you learned anything from this dungeon break, it should be that you are not strong enough."

As much as Clark wanted to say no, he understood why Alexander was doing this. The student that he had taken under his wing had been in danger. Grave danger that didn't care how strong any of them was. If Doc had not been there, the odds of beating a plague fly were much lower. Mainly because the plague fly only had weakness against Isa's beasts for the most part.

"Will I have a chance to rest?" Clark could only hope he could clean up and sleep for a few hours.

"Six hours. That's all you have to prepare. After that, we will act as if you are on a rushed mission to clear the dungeon and return here. If you can not do it then there is no point in coming back to Nova academy. You will be turned away by the gatekeepers and the guards. This is my test to you."

This was much larger than Clark had expected. He felt that this was a training session before. Now he believed that Alexander wanted to truly see what Clark was made of. He wanted to test the will that Clark had to become stronger.

"What else do I get to know?" There was a pretty strong feeling in Clark's heart that told him he would not be allowed to learn much.

"The elemental typing will be darkness and more importantly earth. There are three to seven beasts that live in this dungeon. It is not mapped out. It is a weak newly formed dungeon. I have exclusive rights to enter it with whoever I desire. If we find anyone else there they can die.

They are trespassing." Alexander's words would scare anyone. Yet, this was how things were. Some people would always try to sneak in and steal things from someone first. Especially an easy dungeon that was recently found.
