Spirit Taming

Chapter 141: Reprimanded

Chapter 141: Reprimanded

'Quest: Midnight Walker- completed

Reward: 1 large death crystal, 10 gotcha draws.

The rewards are being distributed, good luck host!'

Clark felt that the system was being nicer than before. He had been noticing that it had not said much lately and wondered if it had been silently observing. Somehow watching to see what it could do to incorporate itself better in to his life. It had become more intelligent after he had gained an update for it.

'Healing water…

Small death crystal…

Small water crystal…

Healing water…

Elemental mage training guide- rare

Before certain tamers learned how to assist their elemental beasts to manifest, they were able to host them within their bodies. This has been lost through the years and is only followed in some forms by certain older families.

This guide has in depth knowledge on the topic of elemental skills and magics when merged with elemental beasts. It can increase the growth rate of beasts while also guiding the tamer to become more powerful.'

The fifth item made Clark widen his eyes. It was an ideal item that Clark could give to Isa. she would better be able to fight with her flame sprite and ice maiden using this guide. He couldn't be happier now that he knew he and his friends would grow stronger.

'Healing water…

Veiled cloak- uncommon

The veiled cloak is a simple cloak with a see through veil. It is often worn by travelers and is fairly cheap. This is a system modified veiled cloak. No matter what someone tries, aside from destruction, this will hide the identity of the one who wears it. It also slightly protects against the elements.

Light crystal…

Veiled cloak…

Ancient dragon blood drop- Legendary

The ancient dragon blood, even though it's a drop, is extremely dense with draconic energy. This essence can improve all characteristics of any dragon type beast that consumes it. For those with weaker dragon bloodlines or essence, it can awaken their innate bloodline. For those with already existing bloodlines, it may cause them to develop their skill faster.'

The sight of Clark stopping dead in his tracks along the street outside the inn would have made anyone wonder if he was alright. Fortunately, it was the dead of night and he was quick to move his feet again.

"I got a legendary draw!" Clark felt that he should dance or shout to the heavens. If he had fewer brain cells, he may have done that. Instead, he settled for a calm but happy celebration with Devi and mentally with Crim who was in his taming space.

With as much speed as he could, Clark changed his clothing and waited with too much energy to exit the changing room of the inn. He pretended that nothing had happened as he sneaked past the husband of the owner who was stuck with night duty. Clark didn't want to wake him from the small nap he had fallen in to.

What was most surprising to him, was that all three of his friends were wide awake awaiting his return. "So?" Isa had a raised eyebrow. She was waiting to see what he had been doing.

"I met up with Doc, he was checking on a few people here and there and wanted me to-"

"Clark, the truth." Maria was not going to tolerate it. She knew he was lying. She just had a feeling.

"Maria said she felt off when you said you would meet Doc, we believed her." Ella simplified it, making Clark sigh.

"Fine, I beat up three drunk guys who wanted the money that Phantom and Blue made. I also killed their ribbonfish beasts. Doc stopped me from erasing them from existence. But I doubt I would have killed them anyways, they aren't real murderers. They were just greedy." There were three harsh gazes fully focused on Clark awaiting more. They knew there was more.

"And when I met Doc I managed to obtain some things. Two veiled cloaks, one for Isa and one for Ella." Clark handed them over and watched the pair try them on. They were black and went to the ground. The veil was true to its name and completely blocked any sight of their features.

"Even better, I managed to get this water crystal for Ella. Oh, and this book for Isa. apparently it's fantasy but to me, it seemed too perfect to be true." Clark handed the book to Isa and watched as she tore the veiled cloak off of her to look closer.

"This…this is…this is exactly what I need! I know it might sound like a fairytale when I say that my family allows our beasts to fuse with us, but this is too good. It's a guide in such good condition! My family would have paid hundreds of thousands of gold for this. Clark, what shady merchant did you get this from?"

"I also found this light crystal. I thought that healing and light went well together. Maybe it could help Lit?" Clark held it out to Maria. He was waiting for her to finally break and let him off the hook. Ella and Isa had already forgotten that he had gone out on his own to fight without telling her.

"And you think that it can, what?" Maria was holding on tightly to her feelings.

"Well, Lit is already mid growth stage princess jellyfish. The next stage would be a queen jellyfish. But I was thinking, what if we went for another growth path. Maybe one with light, spirit, and poison type energies?" This made Ella take interest but she quickly silenced herself when she saw that Maria was intently staring down Clark.

"Go on."

"That would give Lit the ability to heal from a short distance like light type beasts. Give the ability to potentially have attack skills with light and poisons. They also have mental communication to treat people better due to the spiritual energy. And water potential would be lost though, not that you wanted to go that-"

"Just promise me you won't go out and get in to life threatening fights without telling me! Next time you bring me and I will have your back, you idiot!" Maria slapped Clark's outstretched hand and Lit wrapped around Maria's shoulders a little tighter.

"I um, well I didn't…well, I just you know wanted…"

"Huh, so Clark can get flustered. I didn't think that was possible." Isa was a little stunned but managed to pull her attention to what was going on in the room. She grabbed Ella's hand and pulled her away to their attached room. "We are going to bed. Goodnight. Thanks for this.

We will go out tomorrow to the auction. I will handle everything." Isa and Ella were gone with the closing of a single door.

"I can't promise I won't do it again. I can promise that I can try to be better."

"Listen to me. I know you will do anything to get revenge. I will too. I believe the same things you do. But we didn't make a commitment to do this alone anymore. Understand?" The confidence that had been growing in Maria for weeks had finally reached its pique.

"Understood." Clark didn't have anything else to say about it. He knew exactly what he had done wrong and why he had hurt the person he had sworn to bring the Mourne family down with.
