Chapter 119: Ella's Theories
Chapter 119: Ella's Theories
"So you want to be able to fuse wisps together? How would that work?" Marai was walking with Ella now. She had wanted to ask more about the spiritual nature of the wisps since Lit was a spiritual beast as well.
"Well, spiritual beasts can't always do it. But wisps are purely spiritual when they are born. They take in energy around them to change and grow. That means that they are basically living energy without much sentience until they gain energy. That's why my wisp is unique. It remained spiritual in nature but has sentience.
It can call for the other wisps around and train them to follow it."
Ella was showing off her theories. This would be her key to grow beasts in to powerful elemental types and sell them. It would also be the foundations of her research to shake the world. If she could manage to breed elemental beasts so easily, there was no one that would question her methods.
"If I keep them spiritual, then they will absorb each other's energy and become a stronger spiritual beast. From there I give them rare elemental materials and can create blue flame wisps, an earth spirit golem, and even a wind sprite. They are all beings that could be grown from a wisp. The real problem is guiding that growth. So far I just have elemental wisps.
The reason is simple, I lack the materials and research."
This had been the problem for Ella for some time. She could easily breed basic wisps right now. That was not an issue. The eggs would be a strange spiritual egg that formed from the energy that multiple wisps shared with each other to create a much weaker wisp. She had to create them and then keep them safe until they hatched.
From there it was all about the seclusion of energy to help them grow. If Ella messed up and exposed the wrong sort of energy, then she failed. She could end up with an extremely common beast that would be useless to many people.
"What happens when you have a water wisp?" This was the focus that Maria had heard Ella mention. Now that they were going to Star City, Maria was curious about what Ella planned to do.
"I have a fire and wind wisp in the form of a spirit hawk. Then I have a ground and fire wisp in the form of a lava golem. They are both weak because they need a lot of elemental energy to create their bodies. It's problematic and took a long time to help them. But what if I had a wisp with all four basic elemental energies?"
"Then you could have a wisp that can change its body to suit what is needed or even create a body out of the four elements at once." Clark had been walking silently listening. He and Isa had given up on sitting in the carriage because they knew how close they were to the first campsite. They just wanted to enjoy a more peaceful walk.
"Exactly! It will be the perfect beast for anyone that needs to grow a weak beast alongside them. It will also lack definite form and can change in to a beast of single or dual, maybe even triple elemental energy later in its life when its tamer decides what to do." Ella's theory had a lot of foundation. Clark just needed to see it come true.
"You might want to look for unique energies. Space, time, death, darkness, poison, or even metal. It could be good to see more dynamic combinations." Clark's ideas were simple but could mean a lot.
"I have tried darkness. The wisp became a shadow ball that melted in to the shadows and dissipated. It was not a viable option. Light was another attempt but the same happened. The energy is too dense for a weaker spiritual base. I would need an intermediate growth stage of spiritual wisp…" There was disappointment on Ella's face.
She had learned from failures but they were failures nonetheless.
"How would she get so many death elemental materials anyways? They are not that easy to handle. They have the same effect as poison materials. They decay just about everything." Isa was sure that she was speaking with logic. These materials were hard to handle.
"Well, they might be easier to find than you think. There is death in many aspects of life. It just comes down to control of energy. And poison is also easy, just look at plants in nature. Many are poisonous when they hit certain levels of concentration. That's how medicine is made, but condensing the ingredients that heal, so why not poison."
Clark could have given Maria an award for such a quick and snappy response. She had diverted the attention in a way that made it seem like a basic piece of knowledge. "Oh, well…maybe I should try that…" Ella fell in to deep thought while walking. She did nothing but mumble and scribble in her notebook before they all noticed the ground changing.
"We are only a few minutes away from the campsite. Look, there is already some smoke from a small fire where Doc must have set up his camp." Isa spurred them on. They were going to be able to rest soon.
"The rocks and small pieces of sand around mean this is close to the sandworm nest." Clark didn't hide that he knew the area they were resting in. This would be an interesting place to rest.
"Sandworm nest? I thought so. The rocks showed striations that were conducive with growing near abrasive materials. That means we should look for earth elemental crystals or naturally forming gems. They will be food for sandworms and very valuable to sell. The gems that form next to the earth crystals will have an easier time being carved with runes." Ella was back again with material information.
Clark thought she was better than any of the books he had read. Constantly supplying information that he could store within his mind for later.
"Second to last to get here but you look well. When the other students told me you were using red ferns, I was surprised. But knowing your group, it makes sense. Material collecting must have gone well?" Doc walked up to them as soon as the circle of carriages came in to view.
The group brought their carriage to match the other students. "Of course we did. They were too easy to take. Clay bodies from mud deer, stone antlers, and even some earth potatoes. Very good harvest." Ella reported to Doc who nodded in approval. He liked seeing the resourcefulness.
"Don't try to attract beasts here. The sand worms will be around come the morning. They like the warmth of the sun. it will also be the perfect time for all of you to watch me defeat one." Doc made the announcement. He wanted everyone to hear this when they arrived. "Now we just need our last carriage and we can go over what you all earned as the first day of travel grade."
"They might be a little while. When we passed them they were trying to beat a bunch of beasts for training. But their beast broke their carriage wheel by accident." Isa made it sound like a blunder for the two Cain family members and their unfortunate two companions. But Clark, Maria, and Ella knew it was just a cover for the deeds of the two Cain family members.
