Chapter 111: Real Pressure
Chapter 111: Real Pressure
Watching Clark be literally dragged away, Maria was on edge. She wasn't sure what was going to happen but being told that she had to come to be a healer was worrisome. Alexander had not done this sort of thing before. Clark had expressly told Maria that it seemed Alexander was more of a hands off kind of mentor. But here they were heading towards the coliseum.
A few students saw Clark getting pulled along but as soon as they looked at Alexander they backed off. There was a serious look on Alexander's face that told everyone not to mess with him. There was a single arena set aside for staff members only. That was the one that Alexander had reserved for just them.
"I would change your jellyfish in to the royal cape form. And yes, I know about you and Clark's little adventures outside the wall. I wouldn't leave him without a babysitter." Alexander knew that things would be getting serious, he had to ensure that Clark could handle himself out in the wilds properly.
"You were already willing to go out in the wilds alone. Now you are going for an entire journey to another city. I expect you to be ready to take on any of the beasts on the way. Especially if something untoward happens again."
All three of them knew that there was jealousy for the fact that Clark had taken a large role in the research department. But even more, Alexander remembered that Clark was trying to grow strong enough to take down a major family. That meant that he would be butting heads with many important figures within the city.
"The chance to get out of here will remove a lot of pressure and give you the chance to grow without prying eyes. I expect that you will find interesting things. But you have to make it to Star city alive. Get your beasts out. I know you have set your foundations enough." There was no reason for Clark to hesitate. He agreed with everything that Alexander had said.
Maria was at the ready. Crim and Devi emerged from the cold blast of air that came from the edens end taming space. Clark felt that they were ready for a real fight. They had just been training alone within the taming space while he was in classes. It was not their preferred situation.
"You should have already guessed by now, but my beasts are gargoyles. Four of them to be exact. This is one of them, you do not have the strength to fight more than one right now." The figure that arose from the ground was hulking over Clark.
The gargoyle had somehow been hiding right beneath the earth without Clark feeling it a single bit. The stranger thing was that it wasn't moving much to rise out of the ground. The brown gems embedded within its chest and eyes were also radiating an earth elemental power.
'Gargoyle (earth)- legendary
The gargoyle is an exceptionally rare beast. To have one under a tamer's control means that the tamer has been deemed to be worth protecting by that gargoyle. This specific gargoyle has been raised with only earth elemental materials being used. This process has given it powerful defense and extreme control over the earth around it. Gargoyles are both physically strong and magically strong beasts.
Their weaknesses will be their opposite elemental nature but that is still not strong enough to beat them easily. Beware the vicious claws on their hands. Their trump card is often petrification but that kind of attack can only ever be used once within a year.
The gargoyle is one of the oldest beasts. They would guard king's tombs along with powerful cathedrals of many religions. They are often found in ancient ruins. They have very high material requirements that often have gem-like qualities. They have a singular growth potential to become a royal guardian gargoyle if given enough time and materials.'
This was the longest analysis that Calrk had read thus far. He knew that Alexander would have powerful beasts, but not like this. Clark was sure that this singular earth gargoyle could crush the entire Nova academy with ease, let alone some of the most powerful professors.
"I call him earth, he is just a step away from becoming a royal guardian gargoyle. He is the youngest of my four gargoyles. Therefore, he is currently the weakest, just don't believe that it makes him weaker than you. You have no way to beat him. Earth will not hold back."
Once Alexander had finished speaking, Earth spread his stone wings and stomped a foot. A single spike of earth shot up and pierced Clark's shoulder. The only thing that Clark could feel was pain. He had never actually been hit so badly before.
The training with Clara had been bruising. Clark had gained exhaustion, cuts, and even sleep deprivation. But he had not had a major injury like this. "What? Can you not handle the weaker attacks of Earth? Don't act so pathetic.
You are my student and my students are not weak!"
There seemed to be a lot of energy around Alexander. He was pressuring Clark much more than he had before. But Clark didn't want to give in. He needed this. He had to get stronger and this training would do it. The things Clark had done so far had been small, insignificant, and unnoticed.
Now he would be focused on much more. A genius student in battle, beast growth, and analysis.
"Heal him now! I want him to be able to struggle the entire battle. We will be here for six hours then we will rest!" Alexander put his foot down while Maria rushed in to heal Clark. Lit's healing radiated around them but the incoming roar proved that this was not as easy as Maria thought it would be.
Seven earth spikes shot up around them causing the pair to be trapped. "Crim, distract! Devi, break him down!" The orders weren't enough to keep earth distracted. The healing was quick due to Lit's growth in to a princess jellyfish but still took time. During that time, Crim was knocked all the way in to the farthest wall of the arena. Devi was slapped from the air on to the ground.
"Devil, use all your strength. Use every skill." Clark hated seeing that he was so weak. Maria was trying to hold him back but he was already moving. Dei used the spirit drive skill increasing his strength while Clark came from behind with his spear.
Clark used falling moon pierce with one spear while Devi used his grotesque claws to strike at earth. The scraping of sharp claws on stone made everyone flinch. It was the sound of Devi's temporary claws being ground away. The spear scraped along as well before Clark was slapped away. Earth didn't even feel a thing. His defense was too strong to pierce.
"Pathetic! You didn't think to go for a single weak point. You didn't confuse and use your ghostly steps. You didn't do anything to make yourself at advantage! Use your damn brain!" Alexander threw more pressure on Clark. He was trying to make a diamond, not some balled up mud.
