Chapter 100: Another invitation

Chapter 100: Another invitation

"Are you really sure I should get another beast? Lit is my one and only. She's all I need because I can be just as strong with her than any beast." Marias had pride in Lit as her only beast. It was something she had always believed to be right.

"But with this beast, you can raise it to protect Lit and yourself. When Lit is healing she is weak. Undefended. It's a safety. I won't force you though, I don't want you to raise a beast that you don't care for, that's even worse than anything." Clark believed this the most. Raising a beast just as a tool was foolish.

"Clarks is right. You should do what will be best for everyone. If you think you can care for this beast and also raise it then you should. If you don't then it makes sense that you wouldn't get it." Isa only had a few words to say but they matched what Clark had said. She had the same feelings about both of her beasts.

"I understand, but I will maintain what I feel. I won't be able to take the time to raise a thousand shelled crab just to be my shield. I also can't afford to feed it so much. It would take a lot of attention to be able to shed its shell one thousand times." In the grand scheme of things, Maria understood the time she would have to take to get the thousand shelled crab to become tough.

The thousand shelled crab needed to shed and grow one thousand times. That alone made it very hard to feed and keep up with. Not to mention that it was an ocean dwelling beast. Yes, it could live on land but it would not be comfortable eating regular beast foods. It would need food from its natural environment to grow the most.

"I understand too. I won't push you. As long as you consider it." Clark felt that Maria had taken the time to compare the pros and cons so he didn't need to say anything else. From there it was just letting things go on as usual. He needed to be sure that he supported her.

"Did you tell these two the difference between those eggs and these eggs?" The same professor that Clark had spoken to showed himself. He had been sneakily listening in on their conversation after the small incident had occurred.

"I did not. My friend pointed it out to me and I was able to discern what egg it was. Then our other friend shared some information she had learned from other sources." Lying was not at all necessary. If Clark had to lie it would be for something more important than this.

"I see, then you two will come to my classes as well. Even a small talent in identifying beasts and eggs is worth giving a chance. Here." The professor handed Maria and Isa two cards the exact same as the one that Clark had gotten from him. Then he promptly rushed off again in search.

"Is that the professor you mentioned before?" Maria hadn't missed that Clark had been invited to go to such a class. She had listened carefully.

"It was. I wonder what the classes would be like. If they are all about analyzing and learning about beasts then it will be very valuable." Clark suddenly realized that this could be the key to him learning about the rest of the beasts he needed for the bestiary quest. He could have it done within the week after attending classes.

"They should be very helpful. If we can have access to their unique growth guides and breeding layouts, we will excel in many aspects of class. We will beat other beasts easier. Then we will have better knowledge of what beasts live where. We might even have the chance to go hunting for our own beast eggs!" Isa had taken what she had been told and found all the major benefits.

The merchant brain she had was amazing at doing such things.

"I like the sound of it. You, me, and Isa will be the best three beast analysis specialists we can be." Maria wanted to see what she could see. Especially the research side of beast eggs. She had not pushed herself to get another best. She believed that Lit was all she needed. However, this instance had taught her that having another to help protect her and those she cared for may be worth it.

Especially if they partnered with Lit well.

"That's that then. We should take a look at the last eggs on the row and try to find any others that stand out. It will be our first training." Clark wanted an excuse to analyze the remaining beast eggs he had not seen. With this, he would be expanding the quest he was working on and gaining knowledge. Two birds with one stone!

"It's a good game. Maria and I will beat you." Isa had a lot of energy and had seemingly become much happier when Clark called her a friend. Some he was not used to having friends due to her training to be a merchant. She spent a lot of time without trust for other people. Therefore, she had focused on her studies and her family's unique skill.

"Exactly, Clark is smart so we need to team up to make it fair. You wouldn't believe the things he knows from reading. If I were to bet I would say that he has read the entire library already!" Maria started to chat with Isa using much more energy. The two had more than hit it off without Clark saying anything else.

This left Clark to pursue the eggs he wanted to see. The two girls were distracted by their conversation. If he had planned it this way to win their little competition, it would be very sneaky. Unfortunately, this was just how the situation came to be. Although this was a good thing since he wasn't sure what he might find in the fifty eggs that were left to analyze.
