Chapter 986 955: Woman??
"Thomas, stop making snide remarks; be careful, JOY might hear you!" Someone inside shouted, and only then did Thomas reluctantly close the door.
"This batch isn't as pure as the last one. Was there a mistake?" As the leader opened the box to inspect the goods, he picked up a submachine gun and aimed it out the window, mumbling to himself.
"Lam, mind your own business. We just need to count the numbers and hand over the goods; the rest has nothing to do with us!" Another person pried open another box with a shovel, revealing it was packed with gunpowder and grenades.
It seemed that the others held him in awe and continued their work in silence. After counting the items in the opened wooden crates, all the weapons were separately packed into another large silver box.
Crack! Crack! The slight noise immediately caught the attention of those inside. "Thomas, go check who's outside. The rest of you, hurry up. Once we're done, we leave!"
Thomas grabbed the pistol from the small table and tucked it at his waist, his large body nimbly darting out. His sharp eyes walked toward the source of the sound.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
It was like something was scraping the ground. Thomas drew his gun from his waist, and as the bushes rustled, he raised his hand and dashed in like a rat, two startled squeaks indicating the rats scurrying in different directions. His flashlight landed on a pile of food, and with a puzzled grunt, Thomas stepped out of the bushes.
"Thomas, did you find anything?" Several people emerged from the room, carrying the silver box.
"Rats!"
"Then hurry up and catch up!" The person carrying the box already jumped onto a jeep, and as Thomas ran a few steps, suddenly his knees buckled, and he fell to the ground, mouth agape but unable to utter a sound.
"What's wrong with him?" Someone on the vehicle, noticing the incident, jumped down and ran towards Thomas. "Thomas!"
The person lying on the ground didn't have time to react before he breathed his last. "Thomas!" The person who quickly ran over placed a hand on his neck, finding no pulse. With caution, he pulled back the gun bolt and walked into the darkness.
Tat-tat-tat! As he entered the darkness, a burst of gunfire erupted from the jeep, and after it ceased, the person who went in was thrown out, landing two meters from the vehicle.
"You two, deliver the goods to the boss, the rest follow me." Lam commanded, as the first one jumped off the jeep.
In front of the bar, several people rushed up upon hearing gunshots, staring in horror at the place swallowed by darkness. As if in an agreed motion, everyone raised their guns towards the darkness and fired. The flying branches and bricks were everywhere, the thick mist evoking the image of a gaping maw of fury pouncing on the lambs waiting to be slaughtered.
A large bird glided overhead, and the person on the outermost edge felt a chill at their neck, a stream of blood oozing out before they could utter a sound, falling to the ground.
Never having seen such rapid movements, silently, another person fell to the ground. Lam was stunned by the sight, ordering a retreat, the invisible danger unsettling even the seasoned ex-military man.
The ones receiving the retreat order scrambled outward, the slower ones fell, while the faster ones fired backwards single-handedly, heedless of hitting their own, just wildly firing before jumping onto the getaway vehicle to leave.
Police cars wailed with sirens as they rushed over, patrons expelled from the bar were kept outside the police line. A slightly bulging middle-aged man walked into the scene, witnessing a backyard that seemed trampled by wild horses, unable to help but groaning as he held his forehead.
"Chief, the deceased were all killed with a single cut, their throats severed, bullet holes everywhere, likely left during the escape according to my estimation."
"So there's no clue then!" The chief pulled out a handkerchief to wipe his sweat, weary of this gang warfare, no evidence, gun cartridges everywhere, disorder! "Inform this place's boss tomorrow, tell him I'm inviting him for tea and chat, it's out of control, this is the third gun case in a week!"
"Yes, Chief!" Inviting the boss for tea would require their cooperation, the young officer lamented.
As the police investigated the scene, leaving officers to guard, a person emerged from the rooftop, leaping down an alley across several rooftops. At the same time, another shadow trailed after him.
Observing the agility of the person ahead, Xiao Lin was puzzled, and after chasing two streets, he pushed off a rooftop with one hand, bouncing into the air towards the shadow's head.
Sensing someone approaching from behind, the shadow rotated 180 degrees, flipping backwards, left hand supporting the ground and bouncing up, right knee kicked towards Xiao Lin's abdomen.
Xiao Lin blocked the incoming knee with his right elbow, twisting mid-air to land a step and a half away from the shadow. He scrutinized the petite silhouette. "A woman?"
The shadow stepped to the right, swaying away by a meter. Xiao Lin, not letting them escape, maneuvered always half a step faster to intercept. "You think you can run after killing so many people?"
When Xiao Lin arrived at the bar entrance from the rooftop, he saw Thomas had fallen, followed by gunfire. Unable to approach, he hid in a corner. Unfortunately, despite being clearly visible, he was ignored amidst the chaos, the irrational shooting turning out to be the biggest flaw providing him a chance to hide. "Why did you kill them?" Xiao Lin posed another question, clearly this person wasn't after the military goods, failing to pursue the vehicle immediately.
The shadow ignored Xiao Lin's inquiry, retreating swiftly before standing still. Xiao Lin advanced, targeting the chest, as if the shadow anticipated such a move, blocked with their right forearm, and left hand braced between forearm and chest, pushing outward.
Just as Xiao Lin approached the shadow's chest, he sensed an unusual ripple, but it was too late to retract his poised form. He transformed his fist into a palm, fingers clasping the shadow's wrist. A tremor extended from fingertips to his palm, like an electric shock, forcing Xiao Lin to withdraw his palm instantly, stepping back, he suspiciously glared at the shadow's hand.
The chance to escape was taken, yet the shadow unexpectedly stepped forward, reaching out towards Xiao Lin. Pausing, it was the window that allowed Xiao Lin to instinctively reach back for the shoulder. Rip and tear! He grasped a piece of fabric, revealing the snow-white skin beneath. (To be continued.
