Chapter 963 932: The Intruder
Chapter 963 932: The Intruder
Ye Liqing stood before the corpse of White Robe. This was just the beginning, and the sunlight streaming through the window lattice hadn't yet entered the clouds; night had not yet begun.
White Robe was dead!
All along, watching the battle deemed as a sacrifice on the screen, no one intervened. Even the appearance of a minor character could have changed Ye Liqing's original intention, but no one appeared from beginning to end. It was merely a reflection of indifference and ruthlessness; the dark world is like this, each minds their own business without caring for others.
The sound of footsteps echoed in the corridor; it was always so long and endless.
The difference was that the light shooting in through the window lattice grew shorter, fingers stained with blood. The guide seemed not in the least disturbed by the killing of White Robe, as if that was just how it should be. What happens behind closed doors has nothing to do with the outside world.
As he walked down the corridor towards the other end, an uninvited guest appeared in the conference room at the far end. No one knew how he directly entered through the strict security system.
Standing unscathed before nine big shots without triggering any systems, with a calm demeanor and a smile, truly provoked an indescribable rage. This naked contempt made those bigwigs, who once stirred bloody storms in the underworld, a bit restless.
"Who are you really, trespassing into the heart of darkness?" asked the elder in the lead, naturally exuding an aura of power and authority. Yuan Jiu, who possessed the entire underground intelligence system, passed all information through his hands to the network and dictated the rules of any price hikes.
With a cold glance sweeping past Yuan Jiu, the seating arrangement started from his right in a clockwise direction. It included Qi Bo, managing passages; Huang Qin, of human connections; Xiao Hei, the contact leader; Song Hu, the thug; Liu Hui, of finance; Meng Gang, of legal affairs; Zhou Yan, the hacker; and the Zhou Ling brothers, the engineers.
All the leaders of darkness were gathered here, all nearly forty years old, having wandered in the dark world for at least ten years. They all had their qualms about Ye Liqing, who ascended to the dark throne so easily, solely due to the founder's dying instruction that generations follow Ye Liqing. This turned what originally were eleven into ten with one being followed. It was already difficult not to have second thoughts after sustaining this long.
From this, one can see the Yelv Family's exceptional means. However, with Ye Liqing, the dark legacy finally began to crack. The ideals implanted in each generation and the greed of human hearts started corroding this ancient legend.
"Intruder!" A deep voice resonated with an astonishing timbre, not harsh but piercing to the heart.
"Audacious!"
One of the ten bigwigs had died just moments ago. Now they waited for the murderer, only to find a stranger instead.
"Young man, state your name. This is no place to cause trouble," Yuan Jiu maintained his composure, a sneer lifting on his aged visage.
"You don't deserve to know my name. I have only one purpose in coming here," said the intruder, raising his left hand and scanning the people seated, finally settling on Yuan Jiu. "Your life."
"What a joke!" The first to jump out was Huang Qin, who was closest to Yuan Jiu. With one hand propped on the table, he leaped in front of the intruder. "Kid, you're too arrogant!"
The intruder looked down at Huang Qin, who was a head shorter. "Huang Qin, of the dark connections, relies on his age to occupy the position, deceiving and oppressing subordinates. Deserving to die!"
With eighteen eyes on them, the intruder had already spread his five fingers, launching a kick at Huang Qin's right knee. A grievous howl ensued, and his five fingers had plunged into muscle, claw-grasping the stopped right leg mid-way.
A few cracking sounds echoed; the sound of bones grinding like a saw tugged at everyone's heart. Huang Qin didn't even touch the other's body before a leg was crippled, but this wasn't the end.
With a soft exclamation, the intruder drew his fingers back, bringing a trail of blood with them. Before Huang Qin even fell to the ground, a black pen, missing from the table, was accurately inserted into the seventh cervical vertebra of his neck. His head swayed forward and backward before finally slumping down in an odd manner.
Huang Qin was dead, the second to become a corpse after White Robe. Both knees kneeling in the round table's midst, facing Yuan Jiu, head tilted back, unmistakably dead.
Shock hit everyone present. Though Yuan Jiu sat in his place, he clutched the armrests tightly, preventing himself from rising in fear and astonishment.
"Who are you really?" After a long pause, Yuan Jiu looked at Huang Qin's corpse, his senile voice like a hellish demon, malevolent and enraged. "State your purpose."
"Intruder! Those who oppose me shall perish." Propping his hand on Huang Qin's head, the intruder declared, "This man signifies your fate, but I can spare you, as long as you relinquish your positions and return home to farm. I guarantee a good life for you, but you, Yuan Jiu, must die. Anyone wishing to side with you must also die. Make your choice!"
"You're looking for trouble!" Song Hu, the thug, clamored from his seat, stunned by the earlier scene. Although Huang Qin's death had no downside for him, as the man was known for being soft and intimidating, bullying and oppressing underlings without sparing Song Hu's men as well, causing several brothers' deaths. However, even feeling thrilled, the notion of fending off external enemies lingered.
"Song Hu, the dark enforcer, having mere brute strength yet lacking brains and constantly subjugated by Huang Qi, lacks the qualifications to occupy the position due to cowardice. Step down now, and I can preserve your name."
"Damn!" Song Hu lunged out, his broad shoulders revealing solid muscles. His massive frame unleashed power, renowned for once killing an adult Tibetan mastiff with a punch.
Landing on the ground, the table trembled. Compared to Huang Qi, this one seemed much more difficult to handle. Unknowingly, people began backing away, making space for Song Hu.
The intruder stood his ground as Song Hu stepped forward, bringing with him the momentum to lift Huang Qi's corpse into mid-air. With a hand reaching out, flesh and blood blurred. With a tear, the companion's body was shredded to pieces.
A tut-tut sound came from the standing man, whose face dirtied with blood, stretched out a tongue to lap the bloodstains, bloodthirstily flaring his nostrils. His sneering dark eyes cast over Song Hu, calm eyes revealing not a single ripple. (To be continued.
