Chapter 891 - 864: The Opposite Direction of the North District
"Xiao Lin, what do you think you’re doing?" Hua Qingyi looked at Xiao Lin with agitation, while Xiao Lin’s indifferent expression seemed as if he was looking at a stranger. "Xia Xue just left, it’s not too late to go after her now."
"What would be the point of bringing her back? Just to hurt her again because of me?"
"So you’re planning to give up?" Hua Qingyi was hopping mad because of Xiao Lin’s attitude.
"When have I, Xiao Lin, ever given up?" Xiao Lin smirked. He would find his woman himself. "Now’s not the time to talk about this. Did you find any clues?"
"You’re such a troublesome guy!" As Hua Qingyi said this, all his previous worries dissipated; Xiao Lin laughed lightly, tossed the last blood-soaked cotton in the trash, and opened a can.
"You saw that masked man earlier, right? I killed Master Si, but that person doesn’t seem like someone who would let it go easily."
"I know, I know, you don’t have to explain it to me, I’m not Xia Xue." Hua Qingyi waved his hand. Xiao Lin wasn’t one to explain things to just anyone, but women often prefer to hear rather than see. For someone like Xiao Lin who likes to show his affection through actions, this might really be tough. "However, bro, I want to remind you, women need to be coaxed. Though Xia Xue loves you, she’s still a woman in the end."
"If it’s mine, it won’t leave; if it’s not, it’ll walk away even if I keep it by my side."
"Alright then! Since you’ve thought it through, come with me to a place." Hua Qingyi didn’t say more. He returned this time mainly to take Xiao Lin to see something interesting.
A white Land Rover sped down a quiet highway, with MISSION playing on a loop inside the car. Hua Qingyi occasionally turned to look at Xiao Lin, who appeared to be feigning sleep. His injuries weren’t serious enough to make him this tired. "Are you hiding something from me? The healing of your wounds is much slower than usual. With your skills, it shouldn’t be hard to handle an injured woman. Although Master Si is formidable, turning you into this state is a bit challenging. What’s really going on?"
"Nothing, the toxins inside take some time to clear out." With eyes closed, it just felt like the place they were going to was quite far, and the light filtering through from outside made his eyes somewhat dizzy. "Have you recently taken a liking to ’JYJ’?"
"Hmm, we’ll be there in over twenty minutes; you can take a nap."
Hua Qingyi really stopped speaking. Their direction was south, nearly entering another city’s border town when they finally stopped at a small inn. Only after reversing the car into an alley did he shake Xiao Lin awake. Was it truly because of the toxin? Could the aftereffects really last this long?
Xiao Lin got out and, slightly bewildered by his surroundings, followed Hua Qingyi into the inn. It seemed like he had been staying there for quite some time. The staff inside greeted him warmly, and it was apparent that one girl had a visible crush on him.
The girl stared with wide eyes, carrying both the purity and exclusiveness of a small-town girl. Especially when she saw Hua Qingyi’s hand on Xiao Lin’s shoulder, her disdainful expression made Xiao Lin feel awkwardly speechless. "You’ve stirred her up, seeing her resentful look towards me makes me feel like I’m a sinner."
"You still have the mood to joke, which further proves you’re not acting normal."
"Mr. Hua!" The girl was holding a tray with several small dishes and two bottles of beer.
"Sending food again?" Hua Qingyi rubbed the girl’s head, revealing a charming smile.
"Yes, they ordered a lot today, I’m heading up first." The girl, with her head being rubbed, had a happy expression as she ran up to the third floor.
"We’re on the fifth floor. This is the best inn in this town, with about forty or fifty rooms. I’ve been holing up here for some time now." Hua Qingyi took the elevator up, and only after entering the room did he find that the inside of the seemingly ordinary inn was decent, not luxurious or modern, but clean and tidy.
Hua Qingyi turned on the TV, got himself some water, and sat on the sofa. "What’s this?" Xiao Lin saw the girl from earlier on the screen, bringing food and drinks into a room with a layout similar to this one, where three people were seated inside.
"Can’t you recognize who the one with his back to us is?" Hua Qingyi licked his lips, pointing with one hand holding a cup at the person facing away from the camera. "I had to sell quite a bit of charm to install these things."
Although he said it like that, there wasn’t a hint of humor in his tone. The rare coldness was what made Xiao Lin scrutinize Hua Qingyi with surprise. "How could I let it slide this time when the old man in my family walked so close to the gates of hell? I have to personally settle this score."
The girl set down the food, turned around, and cheekily made a face at the camera, a detail seemingly noticed by the facing person, who warily approached her from behind. "What were you doing just now?" he asked harshly in broken Chinese.
"What?" The girl was startled, shrugged off the man’s hand as her shoulder moved, and picked up the tray from the floor. "What are you trying to do?" She stared back, not showing the typical fear one would expect. Xiao Lin watched the scene on the screen with interest, seeming unusually cool for something that ought to have been a first-time experience. The man ignored the girl and began inspecting the camera.
"This kind of situation has happened countless times!" Hua Qingyi mocked as he looked at the face. "He’s not the mastermind; this man is Arthur, a member of an Assassin Hall under the Morgan Stanley family in Italy."
"Have the members under the Italian Assassin Hall started taking part-time jobs?" Xiao Lin glanced at the person on the screen. He didn’t know much about the Italian Mafia, following the principle of staying out of each other’s business. This event might indicate another hidden conspiracy behind the scenes. What outcomes would breaking this principle bring?
"I’m not killing this person yet because I want your Xiao Family to make the decision." By saying these words, Hua Qingyi meant that, in this matter, he wanted to set aside brotherly sentiments, indicating that resolving this affair with personal emotions won’t be easy. Otherwise, he would have acted when he discovered this person.
"Killing someone from the Italian Mafia would inevitably cause a commotion. Is that what you think?" Xiao Lin asked Hua Qingyi solemnly, as if to confirm. With Hua Muyun as a national leader, nearly perishing under the Mafia, it wasn’t something to broadcast openly, nor was it a matter to resolve privately. (To be continued.
