Chapter 890 - 863: Will You Stay With Me?

Chapter 890 - 863: Will You Stay With Me?

"Master!" Lao Zhao lunged at the Fourth Master, supporting her sliding figure. The place where she was stabbed only bled a little, and Lao Zhao watched in horror as the person in his arms slowly closed her eyes.

"You killed her!"

"She deserved to die!"

"I’ll kill you!" Lao Zhao charged at Xiao Lin as if risking his life, but was blocked by a sudden dark shadow. "Master? Master?"

Behind the mask were a pair of inscrutable eyes. Xiao Lin turned around, his body trembling. "It’s you!"

The shadow grabbed Lao Zhao and the Fourth Master’s body wordlessly and jumped off the balcony railing. Xiao Lin chased after them, but the person who jumped off seemed to be blown away by the wind in an instant. All he could see was a shadow spreading its ’wings’ not far away.

"Brother!"

"Lin!"

Two exclamations sounded simultaneously, and Hua Qingyi had already lifted Xiao Lin’s body as he collapsed weakly to the ground. "What’s going on?" he demanded, glaring at Xia Xue, who merely shook her head.

Carrying them back to the room, Lian immediately reattached her arm. "Lay him flat on the sofa."

"What exactly happened?" Hua Qingyi tore open Xiao Lin’s shirt, selecting the necessary items from the medical box to treat the wounds.

"Will he be okay?" Lian looked at the wounds, pulling in the bewildered Xia Xue. "Don’t hate him; there’s nothing between us."

It was unclear if this counted as an explanation. Xia Xue showed no reaction, having never seen the man she knew so weak as he was now. "Will he die?"

"No!" Lian and Hua Qingyi said in unison.

"I’ll go check on the situation outside!"

"I’ll go with you, can you handle things here?" Xia Xue nodded.

"It’ll hurt a bit, bear with it."

"What? Ah!" Hua Qingyi seized the moment Xia Xue was stunned to reconnect her dislocated arm.

"Luckily it’s just a dislocation; move it and see." Hua Qingyi said to Xia Xue.

Xia Xue tried to lift her arm, feeling nothing; perhaps it had been numb for too long, and movement felt a bit stiff. "It’s fine now."

"Brother, it’s in your hands."

"No, Lian’s better suited."

"He needs you more. I think he wishes the first person he sees when he opens his eyes is you, not me. Do you still not understand this?" Lian smirked. Although Xiao Lin was equally willing to risk everything for her, he was someone who would sacrifice everything for Xia Xue.

couldn’t get into the alley; the wide vehicle could only extend hoses from outside to tackle the fire. The concert ended at nine. Watching the busy figures, Lian climbed up to the rooftop and casually found a place to sit.

"What’s happening?"

"Why are you here?" Lian watched those who had come to watch from downstairs and asked Hua Qingyi.

"I just returned from the northern district, I went to the farm."

"Hmm! The reports on the news are fake, just a show for the Fourth Master."

"I know, your performance was too fake. I could tell from Brother’s gaze; his eyes were too calm when he looked at you."

"Really? Haha, but still didn’t expect Xia Xue to get involved."

"What will you do?" Hua Qingyi hugged Lian, thinking Xiao Lin had gone too far this time.

"Marry into a good family, do you think that’s good?" Lian smiled slightly, then shook her head. "I understand Lin’s pain; it’s my willingness. He can’t hold others in his heart. The Fourth Master’s death is a sort of closure."

Hua Qingyi shook his head, not foolish enough to overlook the sudden appearance of the masked man, just like the one who took the Fourth Master in the Middle East. Clearly, Xiao Lin’s recent "It’s you" wasn’t referring to the Middle Eastern incident; they must have met secretly.

"Lian, is there a way to stop Brother?"

"What?"

"I just feel the Fourth Master is merely the beginning."

"Why do you say that? Isn’t Fourth Master dead? Isn’t the North District broken?" Hua Qingyi laughed contemptuously, his smile giving Lian a bad feeling. "What did you encounter in the North District?"

"Not me, it’s my brother!" As smoke rose from below, Hua Qingyi pulled Lian behind him. "This smoke is really thick. If you hadn’t notified me in advance, I probably would’ve been burned by this fire even if I survived Fourth Master."

"Him?!" Lian pushed Hua Qingyi aside and was about to go down.

"Don’t go!" Hua Qingyi grabbed her left shoulder and shook his head at Lian, who turned back. "Even if you’re anxious and curious, this is not the time to go. Showing up in front of them like this will only make you more embarrassed."

His words made Lian calm down instantly, and she forced a smile. "I understand."

How long had he slept? Underneath his closed eyelids, the dark pupils kept moving, and the long eyelashes trembled slightly. He wasn’t sleeping soundly. What kind of nightmare was he experiencing? Xia Xue wrung out the warm towel and wiped the sweat from Xiao Lin’s forehead, her cold fingers caressed his emaciated cheeks, tears welling up in her eyes fell on the back of her hand, and when she tried to wipe them away, she realized they were beyond her control.

"Fool!" All the grievances, anger, and complaints could only be condensed into two words.

"Yet you still love!" The sound of her sobbing was the best prelude when he opened his eyes. Xiao Lin kept his eyes closed, listening to Xia Xue’s low voice.

"You..." Her cold fingers were still on Xiao Lin’s lips, feeling the trembling between them, not scared but flustered wanting to pull back.

"I don’t want to let you go again." Holding her fingers, even though his palms were cold, he wanted to hold them tightly, kissing the hands, never having felt such a real existence before.

"You already let go." Xia Xue pulled her hand back.

"No way!" Xiao Lin sat up from the sofa, grabbed Xia Xue’s wrist, and slowly pulled her back into his arms. "I..."

"You promised not to talk about breaking up, but you did, so..."

"Forgive me!" Xia Xue was stubborn, she remained silent. Xiao Lin moved his body to encircle her in his embrace. At this moment, he wished Xia Xue would be angry with him, rather than staying silent like this, leaving him at a loss.

"Lin, do you really think we can start over? I can ignore what you said, but I can’t accept you deceiving me." Xia Xue took a deep breath. She knew she could return to this man’s side, and she knew his heart had never left her, but she couldn’t think of a reason to refuse him, yet at this moment, she didn’t want to go back.

"She wants to kill you, I can’t push you into such a dangerous situation." Clumsy explanation, Xiao Lin was nervous because of Xia Xue’s silence.

"Shh, don’t say anything, I know, there’s no need to explain, it won’t make me happier, only sadder." Her lips fell on Xiao Lin’s, holding his face, imprinting this face in her mind. "I don’t know when you’ll be thrown into danger again, nor when you’ll push me away for some reason again. I don’t want to live like this, clearly just a few feet away, but you pass by, in your heart, tasks are far more important than me."

Xiao Lin’s lips trembled slightly, he could have said more, but had no strength to utter a word. What Xia Xue said was the truth, even in the future, such things might happen again. He couldn’t promise her anything; he himself was a person in danger.

"I love you! So I will wait for you, until the time when you won’t easily push me away, then come to find me." Such an experience is enough once.

"Can you not leave me?" Keeping his head down, Xiao Lin just held Xia Xue’s hand like that.

"I’ll wait for you to come back to me."

Loss wasn’t as heartbreaking as imagined, burying his head in his arms, Xiao Lin tried hard to breathe, forcing himself to breathe, his fingers entwined behind his head. In the darkness, his face hidden between his arms couldn’t be seen, silently inhaling, as if calming or repressing, until the door closed lightly, unable to detach himself from such a state.

"Xiaoxue!" Lian stood in the hallway, Hua Qingyi behind her, seeing Xia Xue leaning against the wall, looking like she just came out from inside.

"I’m leaving first." Xia Xue didn’t even greet Lian, just said a simple sentence and went downstairs but was smoked back by the thick smoke below.

"Why?" Lian held Xia Xue, looking at her swollen eyes. "Lin, he?"

"No, he’s fine, it’s just that I don’t want to go back to him like this. He never needed me, I don’t want to go back like this." Repeating incoherently.

"I’ll take you back." Lian gave Hua Qingyi a glance, taking Xia Xue away from the hallway, leading her down from the other side.

Hua Qingyi faced the ajar door, not believing the person inside couldn’t hear those words, not taking action meant giving up? As an experienced man in relationships, always amidst women’s company, Hua Qingyi began to not understand such a situation.

Pushing the door open, turning on the light with a click, Xiao Lin maintained the same posture on the sofa, the freshly bandaged wound had reopened, glaring under the bright light without any response.

Hua Qingyi sighed, turning off the light, not thinking Xiao Lin needed light to heal right now. He familiarly fetched two cans of beer from the fridge, handed them to Xiao Lin.

"If you don’t want to let go, go after her, sitting here won’t solve anything." He picked up the medical kit again to dress Xiao Lin’s wound.

Pushing away Hua Qingyi’s hand, Xiao Lin unbuttoned his shirt and bandaged himself without letting others intervene. Seeing him like this, Hua Qingyi couldn’t be bothered to manage him, as long as Xiao Lin didn’t do anything self-destructive, Hua Qingyi was happy to relax.

"Why are you here?" After a long wait, Hua Qingyi almost turned red from holding back at Xiao Lin’s first question.

"Is that a question you ask now?"

"Is there a problem? Weren’t you investigating Elder Hua’s attempted murder case? Any leads?" (To be continued. If you like this work, please visit Qidian (qidian.com) to recommend votes, monthly tickets, your support is my greatest motivation.)
