Chapter 1430 - 29 : Trust Me

Chapter 1430 - 29 : Trust Me

*Saoirse*

With our second kiss, electricity sparked through my entirety, making me even more alert.

Rhys moaned my name and leaned into the kiss, spreading my lips with his tongue and devouring my mouth. I moaned in response and arched into him more, trying to get our bodies as close as possible.

Rhys readjusted me, swinging my legs down and pulling one on either side of him. He threw my petite frame around like it was nothing, which turned me on even more. His hands cupped my ass, holding me up easily.

I was suddenly aware of the fact that Rhys was still completely naked. His clothes were in the pack on my back. It seemed ridiculous that I forgot that fact, but it was even harder to ignore with how excited I could feel him getting underneath me.

My emotions flared, the lust taking over as his lips made me forget my worries. I fisted my hands into his hair as my body began to grind against him, his member rubbing against me. His hands tightened their grip, squeezing hard.

Rhys stepped forward. I heard my backpack scratch up against the rough bark of a tree. The extra leverage made me excited. Instead of using it, he pulled his face away from mine.

"Don’t stop," I whined, my lips already swollen from their abuse.

"Saoirse..." Rhys spoke slowly. His eyes were the brightest crimson I had ever seen as they stared into me. They didn’t scare me. They excited me.

"Don’t stop," I repeated, pulling his face back to mine.

With that, all of his hesitation was gone. He yanked me back from the tree and took me to the ground. I expected to hit hard, but he was surprisingly gentle, and the backpack cushioned me against the hard ground.

Although, it was not like I was thinking about that.

He grabbed the waistband of my training pants and underwear in one try and pulled them down swiftly, pulling his lips away from mine for only the amount of time it took for the pants to come all the way off. Then he was back over me, holding his weight off me.

His hand traveled down. I arched up as he swiped once, his fingers coming up wet.

"I need you," I cried, aching for more than just his fingers.

"Say my name," he whispered into my ear.

My word came out as more of a moan. "Rhys."

I felt the tip of him sliding against me, coating itself in the proof of my arousal. I moaned.

"Again," Rhys whispered.

"Rhys."

With that, he slammed into me.

I cried out in ecstasy as his size filled me. A gasp left my lips as he pulled out. My back arched as he slammed back into me again. Just as everything else was heightened, my pleasure was also heightened.

Rhys brought his lips back to mine. I hungrily kissed him as he continued to give me exactly what I asked for. It was overwhelming and magnificent all at the same time. My body didn’t know what to do as pleasure coursed through it.

The pleasure was building. My hands roamed his chest and dug into his back. It wasn’t until he cried out my name that I completely came undone.

I screamed out his name as the pleasure exploded through my body, my legs wrapping around him and clenching him tighter as if to prolong the moment. This seemed to undo him as well, and he thrust deeper inside of me, groaning in satisfaction.

I didn’t expect the sudden sensation of a floodgate opening inside of me. A warm light began to glow from around my body, but it didn’t scare me. I suddenly realized that it was all working as it should.

I felt happy, but I also felt stronger, smarter, and more powerful. I felt in control.

The glow off of my body illuminated Rhys’ face. Instead of looking scared or disgusted, he was staring down at me in wonder. My heart throbbed at the sight of his face, and I smiled at him. The answering smile I got in return would have floored me if I wasn’t already on the ground.

I giggled, feeling giddy and lightheaded. I reached up and pulled Rhys down on top of me. He rolled so that his body weight wasn’t pushing on me. He was on his back as I sprawled on top of half of him.

The exhaustion that I felt earlier returned with force. I felt my eyes drooping as I snuggled into Rhys’ chest. One hand played with my hair, and the other grabbed the one resting on his chest, relaxing me even further.

"Damn it," I mumbled through a yawn. "Now we need to go back to the Dragon Valley."

But before Rhys or I could process what I said, sleep took me.

*Rhys*

“Rhys...”

I shook my head.

“Rhys.”

I squeezed my arms tighter around the beautiful woman in my arms.

“Rhys!”

My eyes shot open as the sound in my head grew in strength, waking me up the rest of the way. It was Daxton. He was mind-linking me, and I could actually hear him. However, it was still faint.

I looked down at Saoirse, still curled up in my arms. I couldn’t help the smile that crossed my face. Gently, I pulled my arm out from underneath her and rolled her slightly. I paused, waiting to see if she would wake up. When she didn’t, I stood up and headed down the mountain a little more.

“Daxton?” I mind-linked.

“Oh, man. Rhys, is that really you? Where are you? Are you okay? Do you need help?”

The tumble of words gave me a headache as they blasted through my head. At least his voice was clearer now.

I kept walking further down the mountain.

“Daxton, calm down. I am fine.”

After what had happened with Saoirse, I was better than fine.

“Where are you? I’ll come get you,” Daxton continued with a frantic tone still in his voice.

“No, stay where you are,” I urged him immediately. ’I’ll come to you. I think I’m close now anyway.”

I didn’t want them waking Saoirse, even though I was probably a mile away by that point.

Sure enough, a half mile later, I began to hear the sounds of Daxton and what had to be the dozen royal guards rustling around. When I turned a corner around a patch of trees, I saw them all standing at an entrance to a cave.

"Rhys!" Daxton yelled. I was relieved to hear his real voice.

"What are you guys doing all the way up here?" I asked, hurrying over before they could rush me.

"You’re joking, right?" Daxton asked. "You’ve been missing for over a week! Carried off by a dragon. What did you expect us to do?"

He had a valid point.

"You are right. I apologize for being so rash and worrying you all," I conceded. "As you can see, I am unharmed. Are there any new developments?"

Daxton glanced at the men around him and shifted from one foot to the other.

"What is it?" I asked slowly, recognizing his nervous hesitation. "Tell me."

"Well, your father found out about your disappearance, and, well, he wasn’t very happy," Daxton said.

I groaned. "Oh no, what has he done?"

"The king has declared dragons a threat and ordered them to be captured or killed."

"He can’t," I said instantly. "You guys don’t understand. There are more dragons than we could have ever imagined. There’s a whole valley full of them."

Daxton and the men stared at me in disbelief. "What do you expect us to do then? Axureon threatened you and abducted you. We can’t just ignore that. Your father can’t ignore that."

"It’s not like that," I continued before Daxton could interrupt me. "I am still not sure that Axureon is one hundred percent trustworthy, but there may be a threat from a more dangerous dragon shifter."

I explained to Daxton and my men what I had heard and learned over my week in the valley. They looked more concerned the longer I talked, but they didn’t interrupt me, which made the conversation much easier.

The harder part of the conversation was convincing them to go back down and allow me to go back to Saoirse, especially since she had mentioned something about going back to the Dragon Valley. I didn’t make it clear about my stronger relationship with Saoirse, but I didn’t have to. They knew me, and they knew I wouldn’t leave her.

That was the only thing that finally swayed them to trust me. Well, that and a guarantee that I would come back down and give Daxton frequent updates. Otherwise, he threatened to find the valley himself.

I was getting anxious being so far away from Saoirse, even though it had only been about an hour. I gave quick goodbyes and headed back the way I had come. This time, I had the benefit of taking one of the ATVs Daxton and the men had brought. It would make traveling easier.

When I stepped out of the ATV and walked toward the trees, I was surprised to see that the sound hadn’t woken up Saoirse. The warmth that filled my chest when I saw her form lying peacefully in the grass chased out the cold I hadn’t realized had crept in.

I curled up next to her and pulled her back into my arms, where she seemed to fit perfectly. Whereas she hadn’t woken up to the sound, she instantly reacted to my touch, nuzzling into me. A smile curved across my face.

"You’re dressed. Where did you go?"

My smile grew. Nothing was slipping past my clever girl.

"Daxton contacted me," I answered honestly. "They were close by, so I met them to exchange updates."

Saoirse half sat up and opened her eyes to look down at me. "And?"

"And the king has declared dragons a danger to be captured or killed."

"What?" She sat all the way up now and looked fully alert.

"It’s alright. I explained the situation to Daxton, and they won’t follow my father’s order," I said to comfort her, sitting up as well.

"No, Rhys, you don’t understand," Saoirse said with a sigh. "I have to go back to the Dragon Valley."

"What? Why?" I asked. I had already assumed as much, but I wanted to be sure of her reasons. Even after our night together, I couldn’t help but feel an odd feeling about her and Axureon’s relationship.

"After last night, I can clearly see the purpose of my powers. I must help protect Hunter’s Glen and the Dragon Valley," Saoirse explained, relieving my worries.

"As hesitant as I am about Axureon and the other dragons, I would have to say I agree with you," I said. "However, why do you have to go back to the Dragon Valley?"

"That is the only place I will be able to safely master my new powers," Saoirse said, then paused. "How does your father’s order affect Keelana?"

Crap. I hadn’t even thought about her.

"I am not sure," I said honestly. There was no reason to hide anything from her.

"We have to get her and her eggs to the valley safely before something terrible happens," Saoirse continued as she reached out her hand to cup my cheek. "Do you trust me?"

I looked into the beautiful green eyes I loved so much and couldn’t help but lean in and brush my lips against hers.

"Of course, I do," I whispered as I pulled back.

"Then just trust me when I say that we have to go back to the valley," Saoirse said. She suddenly seemed nervous and looked away from me. "Well, I guess you don’t have to go back, but I have to."

I put my hand under her chin and tipped her face up so that she was looking at me.

"I go where you go."

My lips met hers again.
