Chapter 19
Chapter 19
"If you've really made up your mind, be more decisive. How do you think your current attitude makes Ji Yaoguang feel? Actually, I don't think she's made any major mistakes. If she continues to be willful like a child who won't grow up, isn't it good for you to lead the way for her? Are you really going to give up on so many years of feelings just like that? Ah Yu, you really need to think this through clearly. The wound this matter opens will be very difficult to heal..." Qiao Xi spoke until her mouth was dry, suddenly realizing there was no response from the other end. She sighed and muttered, "Really, the emperor isn't worried but the eunuch is anxious. What am I worrying about?"
Chang Yu's gaze lingered on the bathroom where the sound of running water could be heard, along with cheerful singing. After a while, she covered the phone with her hand and chuckled softly, "I have my own plans, Sister Qiao, don't worry. When we have time, we'll sit down and talk it through." Only when both parties are calm enough can major mistakes be avoided. After hanging up, she kept recalling Qiao Xi's words. Her fingertip traced over the ring gleaming under the light, and her gaze became deep again, like the night sky in the distance.
Ji Yaoguang, freshly out of the shower, had no idea of the changes in Chang Yu's mood. She smiled at Chang Yu, her eyes curved, and found her way to the hairdryer with familiarity. As soon as she turned it on, the whole room was filled with its noise. Chang Yu still didn't tell her to leave, as if she had forgotten about it. The joy of impending shared sleep enveloped Ji Yaoguang's body and mind. Her fingers ran through her long hair, the damp strands becoming a mess under her touch, like a bird's nest. Chang Yu stared at her for a while, finally unable to resist, she walked a few steps to stand behind her and grasped the hand holding the hairdryer.
An electrifying sensation spread throughout Ji Yaoguang's body. She froze, her lowered hand hanging helplessly at her side. A blush spread from her ears, her eyes extremely bright, like countless stars in the night sky, now covered with a misty haze. Almost all her attention was on Chang Yu's hand running through her hair, every movement of the person behind her making her tremble. Her body seemed to have lost its autonomy; when Chang Yu told her to stand, she stood, when told to squat, she squatted. She wished to prolong this comforting experience indefinitely, but good dreams are always fleeting. Compared to Ji Yaoguang's emotional turbulence, after tidying up the tools, Chang Yu simply said in a flat tone, "Alright, go to bed."
Ji Yaoguang's heart trembled. She moved swiftly, diving under the covers with only a pair of moist eyes visible, gazing at Chang Yu. The sudden dimming of lights left her vision completely engulfed by darkness, and her hearing became extremely acute. The sound came from beside her, a cold breeze slipped under the covers, followed by the presence of another person. Ji Yaoguang blinked, her expression overly cautious, though in this darkness she couldn't see anything clearly anyway. The entire city was still immersed in the clamor of red lights and green wine, the neon lights even obscuring the moonlight. Ji Yaoguang lay stiffly, not daring to move, until she heard steady breathing from beside her. Only then did she gently turn her body.
However—she couldn't sleep!
She tossed and turned unconsciously until suddenly, an outstretched hand enveloped her, and a drowsy murmur reached her ears: "Ji Yaoguang, stop fussing, go to sleep." How long had it been since she'd heard such words? She blinked, tracing Chang Yu's facial contours in the darkness. Pressed tightly against Chang Yu, inhaling that familiar scent, she sighed softly, "I want to hug you."

Ji Yaoguang was awakened by the alarm. A good dream was forced to end before reaching its conclusion. Opening her bleary eyes, she lay in bed staring at the ceiling for a while. As her thoughts gradually cleared, she suddenly sat up with a start. It was still the biting winter, the sky barely light, with only a dim yellow lamp lit in the room. Hurriedly putting on her clothes, she turned to Chang Yu and said, "I'm going back to my room first." Without waiting for a response, she rushed out. In other productions, being late might have been a small matter for Ji Yaoguang, but now it was different. She couldn't continue to indulge herself.
Due to the initial actress Li Yaoyao's withdrawal from the production, scenes involving Princess Pingyang had been postponed, and the tasks on Ji Yaoguang were still not light. The production only had a month for filming, with almost half already gone. In a few days, it would be New Year's Day, which they would likely spend in this strange yet familiar place.
During a rare moment of respite in the busy filming schedule, Ji Yaoguang watched Jiang Huai and others on set for a while, then silently withdrew her gaze, taking her script to find a quiet place to contemplate. A familiar figure sat on a long bench, wrapped in a black down jacket, almost entirely hidden under the hood. Hearing footsteps, the person suddenly looked up at Ji Yaoguang and said "Hey!" with a laugh, asking, "Did I scare you?"
"......" Ji Yaoguang pursed her lips, turning her head to look at the somewhat dispirited Cheng Henian. "Why are you here? Come to be an extra again?"
"Yeah," Cheng Henian shrugged and smiled, winking at Ji Yaoguang. "Surprised? Unexpected?"
Ji Yaoguang rolled her eyes at her, feeling this person was even more unrestrained than Bian Yuting. With this disturbance, she lost interest in reviewing the script and instead asked curiously, "How did you agree to record the song? Did Director Li persuade you?"
Hearing this, Cheng Henian's face immediately fell. She said somewhat unhappily, "Who else could it be but Sister Lu? Just because I called her old a few times? Don't know where she got my contact information from, really finding all sorts of ways to bother me. I was just telling the truth, isn't she old compared to the youthful me? Speaking of which, I've already apologized to her but she's still not satisfied, insisting I sing the theme song with her. Considering you and Goddess Chang are the lead actors, I've accepted it."
"Just like that?" Ji Yaoguang clearly didn't believe it was so simple. How could someone like Cheng Henian be coerced? It must have been some form of enticement.
Cheng Henian threw a flirtatious look at Ji Yaoguang and said with a giggle, "Ah, you've seen through me. Actually, Sister Lu promised to give me a collector's edition CD with all her songs recorded. Although I don't care for her age, I love her voice! She's truly a role model for our generation. If we could get her to join our radio drama group—"
"Are you crazy?" Ji Yaoguang couldn't help but interrupt Cheng Henian's fantasy. Who did she think Lu Yusheng was? She was adorned with all sorts of heavyweight honors. If she were to voice those "mmm ahh" parts in radio dramas with Cheng Henian, wouldn't it scare a lot of people to death? This person's level of wild imagination had clearly reached a certain stage.
"By the way, Little Ji, have you seen the CP fans are shipping us online? Want to take a photo together?"
Ji Yaoguang looked at Cheng Henian warily, retreating several steps as soon as she finished speaking, maintaining a safe distance. She glanced at Chang Yu, and seeing she hadn't noticed this side, inwardly breathed a sigh of relief. It was a sensitive period now, and she didn't want to fool around with Cheng Henian.
Chang Yu, resting after finishing her scene, was listening with half-closed eyes to Qiao Xi's mumblings about Ji Yaoguang's antics. Her gaze occasionally swept towards the two playful figures, but after lingering for a moment, she withdrew it. A familiar ringtone came from her coat pocket—familiar, but it was Ji Yaoguang's. That person had left in a hurry this morning, not noticing she had left her phone behind. Chang Yu had put it in her pocket but soon forgot about it.
Ji Yaoguang, now in costume, had returned to the set.
Chang Yu took out the phone under Qiao Xi's somewhat surprised gaze. The caller was certainly persistent. As her finger slid across the screen, before Chang Yu could speak, Bian Yuting's voice came through: "Hey, Ji Yaoguang, you're really not cool! If someone hadn't told me, I wouldn't have known you were hanging out with Cheng Henian! You're something, how did you manage to hook up with that nutcase? Listen, if Chang Yu doesn't want to reconcile with you, why don't you go after Cheng Henian? You two look good together. Hey? Why aren't you saying anything? When I first started as a manager, I had my eye on Cheng Henian, but now I'm letting you have her, okay?"
Bian Yuting's voice was not small, and her laughter was quite unrestrained. Even Qiao Xi beside her could hear clearly. Her eyelid twitched slightly as she glanced at Chang Yu's increasingly dark expression, silently mourning for Ji Yaoguang for thirty seconds. Bian Yuting just had to call at this moment; Ji Yaoguang could only hope for the best.
Chang Yu's tone was much calmer than her expression: "Ji Yaoguang is filming."
"Hm?" Bian Yuting hummed lazily, then after a while, as if realizing something, her voice trembled, "Then who are you? Why is Ji Yaoguang's phone in your hands?"
"I'm Chang Yu."
As soon as she finished speaking, the other end hung up, leaving only a busy tone.
Chang Yu put the phone back in her pocket and squinted at the person seriously acting on set for a while before slowly asking, "Are Cheng Henian and Ji Yaoguang's CP very popular now?"
"Yes," Qiao Xi nodded and replied in a light tone, "Cheng Henian only follows Lu Yusheng and Yaoguang on social media, and you know, it's easy for photos to leak from the production. Look at how they chat together when they have nothing to do. Even when your Ji Yaoguang just liked one of Cheng Henian's radio dramas, CP fans screenshotted it. I see they've already established a 'Plastic Flower Sisters Support Group'."
Chang Yu raised an eyebrow and said coldly, "You seem to be paying close attention?"
Qiao Xi hurriedly waved her hands. Even if it were true, she couldn't admit it.
