Shattered by Fate, Restored by Truth

Chapter 790: Lu Ci: You’re Pregnant?

Chapter 790: Lu Ci: You’re Pregnant?

Wanxin knew what he wanted to ask; whether Qi Ran knew that they had already broken up.

She looked at him with a slightly cool gaze, waiting for him to clarify. But he just kept staring at her, until she felt uneasy and looked away.

"My mom doesn’t know yet, and neither does Su Yao."

Wanxin lowered her eyelids and spoke softly.

"But don’t worry, once the relationship between Su Yao and Lu Ci stabilizes, I will tell them."

"Are you holding back because you worry about the impact on Su Yao and Lu Ci’s relationship?"

"What else?"

Fu Shihan gave a bitter smile and shook his head. "It’s okay, you’re busy, I’ll leave first."

He slowly got up, turned to leave, then heard Wanxin say, "Don’t take the watch, or I’ll throw it away."

Fu Shihan turned back, took the watch, put it back on, and quickly disappeared from Wanxin’s sight.

The door closed, and Wanxin collapsed onto the chair like a deflated balloon.

Thankfully, he was sensible enough to leave quickly; had he stayed longer, she wouldn’t know what to say.

Opposing him was truly exhausting. Wanxin would rather have him suppressing her company as he had done before than having to confront him face-to-face.

What she feared was not his cold attitude, but rather his sharpened, silent gaze.

Wanxin sighed and gathered her energy to go to the small meeting room. She finished work at 7 PM and drove home, finding that Su Yao and others had already returned.

Last night, she mentioned hiring a bodyguard, and Qi Ran moved quickly. The bodyguards would arrive tonight, and tomorrow she would have the bodyguard accompaniment everywhere, walking with the dominating presence of a CEO.

Wanxin imagined that scenario and shook her head.

Dinner was extraordinarily slow and careful for her.

Wanxin knew that if she vomited again today, no excuse would hold up, and Qi Ran would definitely take her to the hospital for a check-up.

After finishing her meal anxiously, Wanxin felt relieved seeing Su Yao stealthily approaching her.

"Baby, I see others needing a lot of nutritional supplements during pregnancy. Why aren’t you taking any?"

She glanced down at Wanxin’s stomach, then looked around to make sure Qi Ran wasn’t nearby before continuing.

"I bought lots of stuff today. It’s in the office. I’ll bring it over after mom leaves."

"Okay." Wanxin smiled subtly, "Don’t let mom find out."

"Hmph."

God knows how much Su Yao wanted to announce this news publicly; she was really striving hard to keep this secret.

Su Yao felt like she was more anxious than a servant rushing around for a calm emperor.

Wanxin was still unsure whether or not to keep the baby, yet Su Yao was already browsing clothes for children in her free time at the law firm.

Not knowing the baby’s gender yet, Su Yao wanted to buy dresses.

But she feared if it turned out to be a boy, wearing dresses too often when young might lead him to become a cross-dressing mogul. She did not want to bear that responsibility...

So, Su Yao temporarily shelved the idea of buying baby products and instead bought food for Wanxin.

Lu Ci was meeting a client and decided to greet her at her law office en route.

Unexpectedly, upon entering Su Yao’s office, he saw a pile of...

Pregnancy health products?

Lu Ci was puzzled, and Su Yao panicked upon realizing what he was looking at.

"You... are pregnant?" Lu Ci spoke with an indescribable tone, "Has humanity evolved to the point where holding hands and kissing can lead to pregnancy now?"
