Chapter 783: Qi Ran: They Either Had a Fight or Broke Up

Wanxin went to the airport to pick up Qi Ran. Once in the car, Qi Ran pressed her temples, her face showing signs of weariness, utterly exhausted.

She tilted her head to look at Wanxin’s profile and noticed her daughter had lost a lot of weight, which caused her heart to ache.

After closing her eyes to rest for a while, Qi Ran brought up the issue Wanxin had mentioned over the phone last night.

"The person you encountered at the new company?"

Qi Ran was aware of the nature of Huazeng Group’s business, which was prone to offending people.

However, it was unexpected for Qi Ran that just less than a month after the company opened, people already started causing trouble for Wanxin.

"It’s not that." Wanxin shook her head. "I don’t know when I offended her."

Wanxin truly couldn’t recall how she had ever offended Cheng Yao before; she remembered everyone she had ever clashed with, and Cheng Yao was not on that list.

"I don’t know when, nor the reason," Qi Ran furrowed her brows. "Then what exactly did she say to you?"

"She said that sooner or later, she will let me know just how much she hates me." Wanxin thought about Cheng Yao’s words from last night and shook her head with a smile. "She also said that in the end, only one of us can live."

Qi Ran snorted with a laugh upon hearing this.

As a lawyer of many years, what kind of threats hadn’t she heard before?

She dealt with multinational corporate lawsuits, which were on a completely different level compared to ordinary civil disputes. Over the years, Qi Ran had received countless death threats.

Someone had even sent a timed bomb to her office; there were some ruthless beasts that would do anything for profit.

"Afraid?" She looked at Wanxin and asked softly.

"Scared." Wanxin hesitated, then nodded. "I fear dragging you all into this."

If she were all alone, she would fear nothing. But her loved ones were her weakness; she feared they might get hurt.

"Then there’s no need to worry. Based on the current situation, everyone is doing better than you are," said Qi Ran, leaning back in the seat lazily and asking, "I heard you and Yaoyao moved to live separately?"

"Yes, moved closer to the company."

"And how about meals?" Qi Ran was more worried about this issue. Her younger daughter’s culinary skills were limited to boiling water for instant noodles, but she couldn’t eat that every day.

"Mom, the takeout industry is pretty well-developed nowadays..."

"The food from outside isn’t clean, and on top of that, you’ve received death threats. Aren’t you afraid someone might poison your food?"

Wanxin fell silent upon hearing this.

She was scared, of course, but she couldn’t cook, so what could she do? She couldn’t rely on Su Yao forever; she needed to give Su Yao some space to develop her relationship with Lu Ci.

Qi Ran sighed and asked another question: "Didn’t Fu Shihan move with you?"

Surprised to hear the name Fu Shihan from Qi Ran’s mouth, Wanxin swallowed her saliva wrong and ended up coughing violently.

Seeing her daughter’s discomfited state, Qi Ran shook her head helplessly and turned to look out the window.

"Why would he move with me?" Wanxin felt it wasn’t good to dodge the question as it would make the issue between her and Fu Shihan seem more problematic, so she forced herself to answer.

Qi Ran slightly narrowed her eyes, feeling that there was something off about that answer.

Why?

Why would Fu Shihan need a reason to follow her?

Thinking of Fu Shihan’s shameless and fearless attitude before, Qi Ran felt that if Fu Shihan hadn’t made any moves while Wanxin was moving out, then the pair must have either quarreled or broken up.
