Shattered by Fate, Restored by Truth

Chapter 771: If you find her displeasing, give her a slap.

Chapter 771: If you find her displeasing, give her a slap.

This trio of people is irresistibly eyebrow-raising.

They had clearly come to dine after a shopping spree, hands filled with a fair share of spoils from the battlefield.

Fu Shiyi was arm-in-arm with Sheng Qian, with Cheng Yao following on the side, looking more like a lackey, her presence paling in comparison to the other two.

Su Wanxin’s gaze, deep and dark, settled on Cheng Yao, her eyes flickering with a cold light.

She really hadn’t been happy lately, brimming with anger with nowhere to vent it.

She remembered the several times she had encountered Cheng Yao, that room from over a year ago, that tombstone, the photograph upon it.

Scene after scene flashed through her mind, she knew Cheng Yao was the amulet that had replaced her, but toward this "colleague," she couldn’t muster a friendly attitude.

Thinking back, Su Wanxin had known Fu Shiyi for a decade or so; how come she had never seen Fu Shiyi and this person pictured together before?

When did they even meet, and how did they get acquainted?

Su Wanxin narrowed her eyes slightly, suspicion arising. Her gaze stayed fixed on Cheng Yao, and not long after, the latter felt the intensity of her stare.

Cheng Yao looked around, and upon seeing Su Wanxin, her expression registered surprise. Beyond that surprise, however, Su Wanxin could see other reactions on her face.

Triumph.

Su Wanxin chewed on her straw for a while, finding it somewhat amusing.

Fu Shiyi and Sheng Qian had been engrossed in their own conversation, not paying much attention to this side. Su Wanxin locked eyes with Cheng Yao for a while, then, with a smile, she stood up and walked over.

Seeing her approach, Cheng Yao was startled, unsure of what she intended to do.

Su Wanxin strolled over leisurely, and only then did Fu Shiyi and Sheng Qian look up, exclaiming in surprise.

"Wanwan? What are you doing here?!"

"I’m here to dine with friends," Su Wanxin replied flatly, her eyes still fixated on Cheng Yao.

She stood towering, her gaze unwavering. Fu Shiyi and Sheng Qian felt something was amiss and were just about to inquire when they saw her briskly raise her hand and swing it mercilessly towards Cheng Yao’s face.

The slap was particularly forceful, leaving Su Wanxin’s palm tingling, which could only suggest how much more painful it must have been for the recipient.

But no matter how painful, it was nothing compared to the ache Su Wanxin felt seeing her own photo attached to that tombstone.

Su Wanxin’s actions drew the attention of the nearby diners, and Sheng Qian instinctively pressed down on her cap, wary of being photographed and sparking a messy scandal online.

She frowned at Su Wanxin, puzzled by her behavior.

Su Wanxin rubbed her wrist, exchanging a mockingly playful gaze with Cheng Yao. Seeing Cheng Yao attempt to rise, she pressed down on her shoulder, leaned forward, and whispered into her ear, "Miss Cheng, it’s been a while."

Hearing these words, Cheng Yao’s body tensed abruptly.

Su Wanxin sensed it, stood upright with a smile, hearing Sheng Qian ask herself, "What’s... what’s the situation..."

Sheng Qian and Fu Shiyi were both somewhat dumbfounded. Although no strangers to Su Wanxin’s assertive side, hitting someone usually required a reason.

"It’s nothing." Su Wanxin smiled faintly. "I just found her disagreeable, so I hit her."

After speaking, she glanced at Cheng Yao again, saying, "Next time we meet, keep the other half of your face ready for me."

Su Yao and Bai Yuwen realized upon their return from the restroom that the atmosphere in the restaurant was oddly tense. Seeing that the focus was on Su Wanxin, they hastened their steps to join her at once.
