Chapter 770: Chance Encounter
Chapter 770: Chance Encounter
After Su Wanxin got home, she saw Su Yao sitting in the living room, snacking and watching TV, looking as excited as if she had been injected with chicken blood late at night.
Seeing that her sister didn’t seem to realize anything was amiss, Su Wanxin reassuredly walked over and sat next to her, asking, "What’s got you so happy?"
"Will you come with me to the airport to pick someone up tomorrow?" Su Yao put down the snacks in her hand, leaned lazily into Su Wanxin’s arms, and asked, "Are you free?"
"Um... I’m a bit busy," replied Su Wanxin with difficulty. "Who are we going to pick up?"
"My friend, the one I’ve mentioned to you before!"
Su Wanxin’s eyes lit up, and she nodded her head.
Su Yao had grown up in Empire, with a stable social life, so she surely had some close friends.
However, there weren’t many who she had made a point of mentioning to Su Wanxin. The one she was talking about now was her best friend.
Su Yao had previously told her that this person had become a war correspondent. It had been two years with scant contact with family and friends, causing everyone great concern.
Now, at last, she was returning home and didn’t plan to go back to that job, which made everyone especially happy.
Su Yao: "She’s coming to Imperial Capital for work, becoming the editor-in-chief for a fashion magazine. She’ll be busy for half a month before she has to leave."
"From war correspondent to fashion editor... is that hardcore?" Su Wanxin exclaimed, "What time is her flight? I’ll arrange it. I can go with you tomorrow."
"Half-past ten - just in time for us to have lunch together."
"Alright, let’s go, time to sleep."
"Huh?" Su Yao asked in surprise, "It’s not even midnight yet; you’re going to sleep this early?"
"Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise. I’m frail; I can’t stay up late."
Hearing this, Su Yao thought her sister was teasing her.
Su Wanxin was usually someone who reveled in pulling all-nighters, living by the motto, "A momentary all-nighter brings momentary delight; constant all-nighters bring constant delight." It was unlikely for her to suddenly change her habits.
The claim of not being able to stay up late was false; the truth was she was too busy and too tired from work.
Taking it as her sister being tired and wanting to sleep, Su Yao didn’t suspect anything else and followed her upstairs to rest.
After a good night’s sleep, Su Wanxin got up early the next day to go to the office and then to the airport to meet Su Yao.
The two arrived just in time and only had to wait about ten minutes before they saw the person they were looking to meet.
"Wenwen!!!" Su Yao screamed with excitement as she ran over and hugged her friend.
Su Wanxin followed behind and caught the friend’s eye, nodding in greeting and quickly sizing her up.
Seeing her friend’s bright smile and confidence that seemed to emanate from within, Su Wanxin couldn’t help thinking that there was indeed a big difference between those who grew up domestically and those who grew up abroad.
Bai Yuwen caught sight of Su Wanxin and hesitated in surprise, then joyfully pushed Su Yao away and looked back and forth between the two, exclaiming, "You really have a sister?!"
"Why would I lie to you?" Su Yao rolled her eyes proudly. "No need for a DNA test; you can tell at a glance that she’s my real little sister. Impressive, right?"
"Impressive, unbeatable!"
Bai Yuwen laughed and nodded continuously as the three chatted and walked out together.
Su Wanxin had made a restaurant reservation in advance, near Bai Yuwen’s company, situated in a bustling commercial area surrounded by large shopping malls and office buildings, very lively.
Once they ordered their meal at the restaurant, Su Yao and Bai Yuwen went to the restroom. Su Wanxin, out of boredom, looked around and unexpectedly spotted several familiar faces.
Fu Shiyi, Sheng Qian... and Cheng Yao.
