Su Wanxin spoke, lifting her hand to take off the necklace around her neck. Fu Shihan watched her action, unable to hide his surprise.

The necklace lay in her palm. Su Wanxin looked at the ring on it, her gaze lingering sadly on the striking red, as a few voices rang in her mind.

Su Wanxin looked for two seconds, then withdrew her gaze, and handed the ring to Fu Shihan.

He clenched it tightly in his hand, still eyeing her, and said word by word, "I will keep it safe. You don’t deserve to wear it."

She turned and walked to the door, opening it. Looking back at Fu Shihan, she said, "President Fu, please take care. I won’t see you out."

Fu Shihan bit out the harsh words, finally averting his gaze from her, and strode out of her office, soon disappearing from her sight.

Su Wanxin leaned against the doorframe, watching the direction he had left, and after a moment, moved and went back inside.

She sat on the sofa where he had just been, lifting a hand to touch her neck. It felt empty, nothing there.

She remained sitting like this until the door was knocked, and Chen Lei’s voice came from outside.

Su Wanxin was pulled back from her memories to reality, sniffed, and hurried to sit behind her desk, grabbing a tissue to quickly wipe the corners of her eyes.
