Shattered by Fate, Restored by Truth

Chapter 742: She Slept for More Than a Year After This Sleep.

Chapter 742: She Slept for More Than a Year After This Sleep.

At two in the morning, Su Wanxin sat in the parking lot for two full hours as if lost to another world.

She stood up slowly with her body feeling ice-cold, her gaze blankly forgetting the direction of the Hospital Building for a while before retracting her eyes and continuing to search for her car. After finding it, she drove away.

She didn’t go home, fearful of waking up Su Yao and the others at this late hour.

She drove to a high-end residential area near the company, entered a building, took the elevator up to a certain floor, and stood outside a certain apartment.

Then, her fingers trembling slightly, she keyed in the password, and in an instant, the door opened.

Su Wanxin stood at the entrance and stared steadily inside, then stepped into the room. She turned on all the lights in the apartment, her gaze slowly surveying every corner of the place.

Walking from the living room to the bedroom, she pushed open the door of the bedroom and saw the bed inside, offering a bitter smile.

This sleep of hers... it had been far too long.

A bottle of sleeping pills made her sleep for more than a year. Now that she was awake, it still wasn’t easy.

Su Wanxin lay back down on that bed, the place having been unoccupied for a long time, with dust covering the bedding, just like the layer of grime over her heart, filthy indeed.

She curled up under the covers, and didn’t shut her eyes until dawn.

At seven-thirty in the morning, her phone rang again. Su Wanxin, exhausted, stirred and reached for it.

It was a call from Su Yao.

"Where did you go?"

From the receiver came Su Yao’s confused voice. She stood at Su Wanxin’s door, looking at the empty room, her brow deeply furrowed.

Su Yao had originally come to call Su Wanxin downstairs for a meal but found the room completely empty instead.

"I had some things to deal with first, I’m almost at the company now."

"Su Wanxin, really? Do you have to push yourself so hard?" Su Yao’s desperate wail was heartbreaking, "Can’t you give your sister a break?"

This made it seem like she had no ambition at all!

Su Yao hadn’t even wanted to go to the law firm today; she planned to ask Su Wanxin if she was free in the afternoon to go shopping. But now...

It was like a bolt from the blue.

Su Wanxin’s lips curled up slightly upon hearing Su Yao say, "Then remember to buy something to eat on your way to the company. You drank too much last night, and you have a weak stomach, it can be upsetting."

"Okay, got it."

Su Wanxin nodded gently. After Su Yao ended the call, she got up and went into the bathroom.

In the mirror was a face that seemed both familiar and strange. She saw this face in the mirror every day, yet it felt like she hadn’t seen it for a long time.

Su Wanxin freshened up and looked down at her clothes.

The clothes were too dirty to wear to the company. She sighed and, with a glimmer of hope, went to the walk-in closet and teared up again when she saw the rows of clothes hanging there.

"Su Wanxin, can you please have some self-respect?"

She mumbled softly, shaking her head and picked out an outfit, removed the dust cover, changed into it, and then left.

The news of last night’s airplane crisis had spread widely after a night’s fermenting. And somehow, the word had gotten out that Fu Shihan was also on that flight last night, creating an uproar.

Upon arriving at the company, Su Wanxin was stopped by Chen Lei, who asked about Fu Shihan’s condition. Su Wanxin waited for him to finish, then answered coldly, "I don’t know."

Chen Lei: "You don’t know about this?"

"President Chen, if you’re so concerned about President Fu’s status, you might as well call and ask him yourself. I’m not his secretary, I’m not privy to all his whereabouts."

Chen Lei: "..."

What’s with the attitude?
