Shattered by Fate, Restored by Truth

Chapter 722: Stay the Night

Chapter 722: Stay the Night

"Grandpa! Look! My mom is here!"

Yangyang couldn’t wait to introduce her as soon as she saw Fu Hongru return.

Kids can’t keep anything exciting to themselves. She thought Fu Hongru had never seen Su Wanxin and was showing off with a proud face.

Fu Hongru let out a scoff, acknowledged Su Wanxin’s greeting with "Hello, Uncle" with a nod, washed his hands, and came to sit down.

His appearance tightened the nerves that Su Wanxin had just relaxed.

Fu Hongru glanced up at her and asked, "Is Huazheng your company?"

Su Wanxin was startled for a moment, then nodded and admitted, "Yes, it is."

"What’s Huazheng?"

Fu Shiyi asked out of curiosity. She was usually involved with entertainment and film work and didn’t know much about their industry.

"Wanwan, you have another company? How come I didn’t know?"

Su Wanxin replied, "It hasn’t officially opened yet, so it’s not very well-known."

The way she said it was purely modest.

Ever since the New Year passed, a major topic of fervent discussion was the upcoming opening of the Huazheng Group.

The company would open in two days, and everyone was curious about who owned it, and whether they would appear at the opening ceremony.

"Is everything ready for the opening banquet?" Fu Shiyi inquired further.

Su Wanxin nodded, "Yes, just go directly when it’s time."

Fu Shihan wasn’t interested in joining the conversation until he heard this. He frowned slightly, looked at Su Wanxin, and asked, "Are you planning to attend the opening banquet?"

Su Wanxin glanced back, feeling that his question was... rather dull.

"Of course, I have to go."

It’s her company’s opening; who else would go if not her?

Fu Shihan’s face darkened, and he did not speak further.

Fu Shiyi and Fu Shili exchanged glances, not daring to continue the topic. They knew his old habit was flaring up.

Wanting to hide the good things and keep them from others used to work, but now, Little Wanwan had grown up; how could she still be hidden?

Su Wanxin also noticed that Fu Shihan seemed unhappy, but she couldn’t figure out why. With everyone around, it wasn’t appropriate to ask, so she just kept her head down and ate silently.

An ordinary family dinner was exceptionally difficult for Su Wanxin.

She finally endured until the end, breathed a sigh of relief, and was about to ask Yangyang when she wanted to leave when she heard Fu Shiyi ask, "Wanwan, it’s getting late, why don’t you stay over tonight?"

Su Wanxin: "No..."

She had barely uttered a word when Fu Shihan pulled her wrist and started heading upstairs.

Fu Shihan: "Come here, I have something to tell you."

Su Wanxin stumbled after him, not daring to look back.

She was led by Fu Shihan directly into his room. Once the door closed, Su Wanxin finally spoke, "What are you doing? We could have talked when we got back."

"Stay here tonight."

"I don’t want to," Su Wanxin looked down in refusal. "I want to go home."

"Just one night, I’ll take you back tomorrow morning." Seeing her resistance, Fu Shihan asked, "What are you afraid of? This isn’t a den of wolves; I won’t eat you up, will I?"

He had thought she would be reserved coming back today, but he didn’t expect her to be this fearful.

"Grandpa didn’t say anything, did he? He’s just a bit stubborn. It’ll be fine after a while."

Bringing up Fu Yansheng, Su Wanxin thought for a moment, then slowly started to agree.

"Okay, I’ll stay over tonight."

Perhaps this would be her last time here; in the future, she might not have the chance to come again.

Besides, she still wanted to speak with Grandpa. It’d be a pity to leave just like that, given the rare visit.
