Lu Ci hadn’t expected that a small, casual move of his would be so conspicuously observed by her. Nor did he expect her to ask him about it so directly.

Guan Qing thought about it and asked again, "Or was it arranged by the family?"

Lu Ci raised the document in his hand and countered: "Do we continue talking? If we’re not discussing this, you can leave."

"When have I ever played around?"

"I think you and her seem quite fake," Guan Qing stated honestly, "It’s not just to handle family matters and pretend, right?"

The terrifying women’s sixth sense suddenly made Lu Ci want to laugh.

"Why would you think that?" Lu Ci pushed aside the document, leaning back in his chair and looking at her intently as he asked.

Where did his act fall short, allowing her to spot the telltale signs immediately? He said it out to let her speak, and he would make adjustments.

"Just guessing, you don’t seem like someone who would suddenly be so serious."

That remark sounded as if he was quite a scoundrel. Lu Ci didn’t want to say anything more to her and simply showed her out.

After Guan Qing left, he returned to the rest area where Su Yao was sitting on the sofa texting. Hearing a noise and looking up at him, she asked, "Are you done?"

"Yes." Lu Ci entered, closed the door, and asked, "What breeze blew you here?"

"A tornado, I guess." Su Yao chuckled self-deprecatingly. "Sorry for messing up your day."

"It’s not what you think." Lu Ci sighed. "She’s deliberately creating trouble; you shouldn’t fall for it. What did you need me for?"

"What else could it be? It’s our little broken matter.

I’ve thought about how you should phrase it. You go back and tell them that I dumped you, or you dumping me works too.

I’ll stay in Empire for a couple of months, and when their emotions have settled, then I’ll come back."

Su Yao stated directly and after hearing this, Lu Ci puzzled, "Why should I agree with you?"

"..."

"Miss Su, aren’t you forgetting something crucial? It’s not just my family who likes you. Most importantly, I like you."

Lu Ci’s eyes flickered, serious.

"I won’t say those things you thought of. If you really want to say them, you should go to them yourself and tell them you dumped me."

But he felt that she probably didn’t have the guts to do that, otherwise, why would she come to him as a bluff.

"How about we have lunch together when you’re not in a hurry this afternoon? I need to speak to Wanwan about something, the three of us can go together."

Lu Ci shifted the topic, diverting Su Yao’s attention. Su Yao looked at him puzzledly and asked, "What do you need Wanwan for?"

"Work-related stuff." And also to ask her what she did to upset Fu Shihan, just for a laugh. "I’ve called her, and she has agreed."

"Alright, let’s go together." Su Yao nodded and then, with a delayed realization asked, "What topic are you trying to divert from?"
