Shattered by Fate, Restored by Truth

Chapter 499: Some Memories that Suddenly Came to Mind

Chapter 499: Some Memories that Suddenly Came to Mind

Dinner was very enjoyable, Fu Shihan occasionally chatted with her about work, making Su Wanxin feel relaxed.

But this relaxation ceased abruptly as she helped Fu Shihan throw the dishes and utensils into the dishwasher.

Fu Shihan took her hand and slowly walked towards the living room.

Su Wanxin was about to thank him for his hospitality and say goodbye until tomorrow, when he suddenly pulled her onto the sofa, grabbed the remote control, and said, "Let’s watch a movie before you leave."

"It’s already nine o’clock," Su Wanxin reminded softly.

"Hmm. It’s still early."

He held her soft body in his arms, absent-minded, merely wanting to stay with her a little longer.

What was playing on the TV was a foreign film called "Dimensional Killing Array."

Su Wanxin, to distract herself from the nervousness brought on by their close proximity, focused intently on the TV and after a while, couldn’t take her eyes off it.

Six strangers wake up together in the same maze.

The maze consists of identically shaped cubic rooms, the structure is highly complex and precise. Their only way out is to use mathematical reasoning to solve each mechanism.

There are three three-digit numbers in the room, forming the Cartesian coordinates of the room, and then calculating the orthogonal coordinates.

This was quite different from the Cartesian Coordinate System Su Wanxin had studied, but it was undoubtedly interesting.

As she watched and thought, she couldn’t help but want to grab a pen and paper to do the calculations herself. And just as this idea occurred to her, Fu Shihan had already gotten up and fetched it for her.

The two sat on the blanket, opposite each other at the table, each with a sheet of paper and a pen, quietly watching and scribbling.

After a long time, Su Wanxin inadvertently lifted her head and upon seeing the person next to her, her mind went blank, then vague, unfamiliar yet familiar scenes flickered.

"Edge length 14 feet, 26 rooms on each side, that’s... 17,576 rooms."

"Coordinates 477, 804, 539... The orthogonal coordinates are... 18, 12, 17."

"Calculate the three vectors, and you’ll know the room’s movement trajectory."

"How can you be so silly? Just add the vectors to the initial coordinates to find the pattern!"

In her mind, the vague sound of a young man’s cold yet pleasant voice echoed.

He sounded somewhat impatient, with a girl beside him, head bowed silent after being scolded.

Tears welled in the girl’s eyes as she felt his anger, scared yet also annoyed, because her mind didn’t work as fast as his.

Holding the pen in her hand, finally, after the young man quietly called her "dummy", she lifted her head, defensively yelling, "I am dumb! I’m not talking to you ever again!"

...

Su Wanxin’s breathing was heavy, a sharp pain spreading from her chest.

The person beside her seemed to sense something was off, frowning and leaning over, concernedly asking her what was wrong.

She continued gazing at him, at the face that closely resembled the young boy just conjured in her mind, her brows furrowed, remaining silent.

"What’s wrong?" Fu Shihan asked again, noting her reddened eyes, "Can’t figure it out and started crying?"

Su Wanxin looked at him, then back at the TV, her red lips tightly pursed, lowering her head and shaking it.

Had they watched this movie together before?

Suddenly recalling some memories made her inexplicably sad. Su Wanxin slowly stood up, looking somewhat dazedly at Fu Shihan, and spoke softly.

"I have a headache, I... I’ll go back first."

Her behavior was abnormal, Fu Shihan’s gaze slightly hardened but he did not refuse.
