Chapter 606: Chapter 606: New Identity
"I’m sorry, Miss, but this is the only clothing available on the ship right now, so you’ll have to make do with it for the time being." The maid came to her side and helped her change.
Summer Sutton’s original clothes had been through survival on a deserted island and waves of seawater, and were long since tattered and unwearable.
Having something to change into was already a blessing; how could she be picky?
However, she wasn’t too fond of the layers upon layers of the maid’s outfit, with all the lace design. After putting the clothes on, she cut off all the lace, making the transformed dress look much simpler and cleaner.
Standing in front of the maid, she resembled a lively schoolgirl stepping out of a high school campus.
The maid then led her to the dining room.
A variety of food was prepared on the dining table: turkey, roast duck, roasted beef and lamb ribs—all present.
The table of food was comparable to a Christmas feast.
Summer Sutton, starving to the point of dizziness, sat down at the table, didn’t care about much, and started eating with a knife and fork.
She was truly starving, and perhaps finding the knife and fork inefficient for cutting, she put on gloves and switched to tearing the meat with her hands.
Burying her head, she sat down and devoured the feast on the table ravenously.
The maid watched quietly from the side, unable to help but shake her head.
How long had this girl been starving to eat like this?
She didn’t look very old; what had she gone through these past few days?
Summer Sutton couldn’t be bothered by other people’s gazes. Having just walked a tightrope with death, the only thoughts in her mind now were to eat well, replenish her strength, and survive.
This was an instinct for survival.
Moreover, she still hadn’t figured out why she ended up on this godforsaken island in the first place.
She needed to return to Northtown, where there were so many things waiting for her to do once she got back.
In the hallway outside the dining room, a figure slowly walked toward them, pausing at the door. The man outside the door looked in Summer Sutton’s direction, quietly watching her.
Summer Sutton continued battling with the food on the table.
She was cutting a piece of Bavarian roast pork knuckle, and perhaps because the skin was a bit tough, she couldn’t cut it after trying for a while.
As she cut, Summer Sutton got fed up with the trouble and straightforwardly started gnawing on the whole pork knuckle.
Halfway through eating, she seemed to notice the gaze on her and stiffly looked towards the door.
The man at the door nonchalantly shifted his gaze elsewhere just as Summer Sutton looked over, catching a quarter profile of his face.
In reality, it equated to seeing nothing, as all he left her with was a facial curve.
The lines were as robust as a European sculpture, exquisitely outlined as if by the hand of God.
He stood where the warm afternoon winter sunlight happened to reflect on him.
The golden halo on his face made him appear almost godlike.
Whenever he showed up in front of her, he was always accompanied by sunlight.
This was the color Summer Sutton had been missing for days; just looking at it warmed her heart.
Summer Sutton had never seen this man’s face from start to finish, nor what the man before her looked like, but she was sure he was the one who saved her when her life was hanging by a thread.
That sun-like man!
The man, standing sideways to her, might not know she was looking at him, suddenly moved towards the end of the corridor.
As his figure was almost disappearing from the doorway, Summer Sutton’s voice unexpectedly rang out, "Thank you for saving me!"
