Chapter 660 649: Ingenious Uses of Cars (Part 3)

"Old Zhao, Qiang, stop moving, let's go!" Tang Xiaoquan appeared very anxious. But Wang Qiang was indifferent. Retreat? He couldn't understand this; the zombies outside hadn't burst into the house yet, so why retreat when it's safe? His brain must be malfunctioning. He immediately argued, "Why retreat? There are still so many supplies to move."

Old Zhao believed Tang Xiaoquan wouldn't suggest retreating for no reason. He glanced forward through the car's glass and immediately understood the latter's concern: "Qiang, we should leave now. If we continue, the reinforced glass on the windshield won't hold up."

"What the hell! Seriously? It's just two zombies on top banging; it's not that easy to break!" Wang Qiang was adamant. He thought it was finally a chance to move supplies without outside interference, so how could they leave after moving just a little?

Tang Xiaoquan stopped Wang Qiang from continuing to move supplies, his expression stern: "Qiang, I'm not joking with you. If we don't leave now, and zombies surround us three layers deep, it'll be impossible to escape. Remember, this is just a Jianghuai car, not a damn tank!"

Wang Qiang was taken aback by what Tang Xiaoquan said, but he somewhat understood his intention: "Fine, why shout so loudly? Let's go then, seriously."

"Alright, Old Zhao, you start the car first. Qiang and I will be responsible for detaching the water pipe. Remember to follow my command. After I count to three, we'll act together, got it?"

Zhao and Wang both nodded. Old Zhao first flipped into the car, and as soon as he entered the driver's seat, it attracted the attention of the zombies outside.

Now the zombie horde was in an uproar, focusing their attention on Old Zhao's side and desperately pounding the windshield. Fortunately, these glasses were specially processed reinforced glass. Otherwise, with this beastly violent assault, it wouldn't take long before they broke through.

However, despite the protection of thick reinforced glass, the pressure of close contact with the zombie horde was still unbearable. Old Zhao did his best to control his emotions, focusing on starting the car.

"OK, Xiao Tang, I'm good over here!" Old Zhao successfully started the car. As soon as Tang Xiaoquan gave the order, he could release the handbrake and drive to break out.

"Received, Old Zhao, Qiang, wait for my command, we need to synchronize. Once the water pipe is detached, we get on the car immediately, close the doors, and depart! OK?"

"OK!" Wang Qiang felt the atmosphere was even tenser than facing zombies directly. He tightened his grip on the water pipe head, fearing that he'd slip and delay the detachment, which would be trouble.

"Three, two, wait!"

Old Zhao almost released the handbrake, while Wang Qiang was so tense his heart was about to jump out, causing him to immediately reprimand, "Damn it! Quan, are you kidding? You think this is a game? What's wrong with you now?"

"Sorry, sorry, I really apologize. I just suddenly thought of a more reliable escape method!" Tang Xiaoquan kept nodding in apology, yet both his hands and feet were busy. He randomly found some stuff inside and threw it haphazardly on the ground, especially into the gaps between the door and the wall.

"What the hell are you doing?" Wang Qiang was speechless at what he saw as Tang Xiaoquan's trash-dump action.

"Slowing down the zombies from rushing inside, ensuring we have enough time to safely close the car doors."

Old Zhao couldn't know what was happening behind; being surrounded by zombies on three sides exhausted him mentally. He impatiently asked, "Xiao Tang, is it ready yet? There are more and more zombies here!"

"Okay, okay! Listen to my command!"

"Damn it! Think it through before you shout, don't let us down again!" Wang Qiang preemptively warned Tang Xiaoquan, fearing he'd pull another sudden surprise like just now; his heart couldn't handle it in such an environment.

"Alright, pay attention!"

"Three!"

"Two!"

"One!"

"Click click!" Two sounds of the water pipe being detached, followed by the click of the handbrake being released by Old Zhao.

Simultaneously, without the fixed sides, the car doors banged shut due to zombie impact, while Tang and Wang had already jumped on the tail end and forcefully closed the rear doors.

And just as they pulled the car door shut, the zombies that broke into the store tripped over the debris Tang Xiaoquan had randomly thrown on the ground one after another.

The Jianghuai car rushed out, Wang Qiang and Tang Xiaoquan stumbled and fell due to instability. Old Zhao didn't pay attention to the screams from the back, focusing on steering to avoid any accidents with zombies blocking ahead.

The Jianghuai car swayed wildly left and right. Tang Xiaoquan felt like a wobbling toy as the car jolted; he regretted randomly throwing supplies on the car, as they now hurt him all over.

After a bout of intense shaking, the car finally steadied, and Old Zhao's thick voice eventually came over the Hand-held Radio: "Xiao Tang, Qiang, how are you guys? Didn't get hurt anywhere?"

To this, Wang Qiang replied grumpily, "At least won't die."

Tang Xiaoquan lightly kicked Wang Qiang, glaring at him, meaning to blame him for speaking like that.

Wang Qiang sheepishly got up from the floor, dusting his pants: "I'm done suffering back here; Xiao Tang, you enjoy the rear on the way back, I'm going to sit in the front."

Wang Qiang pouting like a child made Tang Xiaoquan helplessly shake his head. He too got up, massaging his sore butt; but no matter what, their outing was successful. At least they managed to bring back the supplies they planned. Though the food was less than expected, having some is better than none.

After Wang Qiang stopped to change seats, he proposed with keen interest: "Old Zhao, let's go back and get some more food. I saw many small stores in town selling food and drinks, the places are small, shall we give it another try?"

"No way!" Tang Xiaoquan bluntly rejected Wang Qiang's proposal over the Hand-held Radio.

In response, Wang Qiang rolled his eyes: "Why not, we can just speed up."

"Qiang, our actions just now have already attracted the zombies' attention. Going back is like walking into a trap, too dangerous. Besides, gathering supplies isn't a one-time thing; we're not in a hurry for that moment. We've already gotten what we wanted today. Now let's head back."

"Yeah, Qiang, for safety, let's not take risks. Plus, the way back isn't smooth. If we don't return to the shelter by dark, it'll be a huge trouble." Old Zhao said, echoing his view without looking aside. (To be continued. If you like this work, you're welcome to visit Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for recommendations and monthly tickets.
