~Lisa’s POV

I sighed, rolling onto my back, staring at the ceiling. "I’m so tired," I whispered, my voice barely a breath.

The candles by my bedside flickered, as though answering me. The air grew warm, calm. My eyes grew heavy before I even realized it.

The last thing I remembered was the faint sound of the wind outside and the soft hum of magic still lingering in the room from earlier.

And then... darkness.

I didn’t even know when my thoughts stopped or when my breathing evened out.

Somewhere between the ache and the silence, my body gave in.

Before I knew it, I was asleep, my tears drying slowly against my cheeks, my hand still clutching the blanket like it could hold back the memories.

The soft knock on my door pulled me from sleep. I blinked, groggy and confused for a moment, the sunlight spilling through the curtains. Lira’s voice came through, gentle but clear.

"Lisa," she said softly, pushing the door open a little. "Wake up, dear. Breakfast is ready."

I sat up slowly, rubbing my eyes. My head felt light, and for a moment, I forgot where I was. Then I saw the familiar walls, the faint smell of lavender, and it came rushing back, Thorne’s palace. Last night. The memories. The tears.

Lira gave me a small, encouraging smile. "Come on now," she said. "You’ll feel better once you eat something."

I nodded, forcing a weak smile. "Alright," I whispered.

The maid assigned to us appeared by the door, bowing politely. "My ladies, please follow me," she said kindly.

Lira and I dressed quickly, and then we followed her down the long hallway. The air in the palace was calm, filled with the faint aroma of freshly baked bread and roasted meat. I could hear soft chatter ahead, and when we entered the dining hall, I saw Thorne, Elara, and Lady Seraphine already seated, waiting for us.

"Good morning," Elara said warmly, rising a little from her seat.

"Good morning," I replied with a smile, trying to sound more awake than I felt. Lira greeted them too, bowing slightly.

Thorne’s face lit up when he saw me. "Finally," he said, grinning. "I was about to send guards to drag you here myself."

I chuckled softly, shaking my head. "You wouldn’t dare."

He smirked. "You’d be surprised."

Everyone laughed, even Lira. The tension that had been clinging to me since last night began to fade as we sat down. The maids began serving the food: bread, fruit, eggs, and warm tea.

Elara passed me a plate. "You look better today," she said kindly.

"I feel a little better," I admitted, glancing her way.

Seraphine nodded approvingly. "That’s good. You need strength now more than ever, my dear."

We ate slowly, chatting and laughing between bites.

Then Thorne set his cup down and looked at me. "Lisa," he began, his tone firm but proud, " I’ll be taking you to the council chamber soon. I want to introduce you to the council members. From now on, we’ll rule together, as Alpha and Lady of this land."

My fork froze halfway to my mouth. "Rule together?"

He nodded. "You’re family, Lisa. You have the power, the wisdom, and the right. You belong beside me."

A small smile tugged at my lips. "Thank you, Thorne."

Lira placed a gentle hand on my arm. "He’s right, Lisa. The pack will grow stronger under both your guidance."

I felt warmth spread through me. For once, it felt like I truly had a place, a purpose.

But before I could respond, the doors burst open.

A guard stumbled in, panting, his eyes wide with urgency. Everyone turned instantly, the laughter dying in the air.

"Alpha Thorne!" he called out, bowing hurriedly. "Forgive my interruption, but...." He hesitated, glancing briefly at me.

Thorne’s brows furrowed. "What is it?"

The guard swallowed hard. "Alpha Damon is outside. He says he’s here to see Lady Lisa."

The entire room went silent.

I froze. The sound of that name hit me like lightning. My heart began to race, pounding so hard it hurt.

Thorne’s eyes darted to me immediately, his jaw tightening. Lira turned too, her face unreadable but her gaze sharp.

No one said a word for a few seconds. I could hear my own breathing, shallow and quick.

Finally, Thorne spoke, his tone low and tense. "Lisa?"

Lira’s voice followed, soft but careful. "He’s come for you, child."

I looked at both of them, then down at my trembling hands. My mind spun.

The guard stood waiting, uneasy, glancing between us.

I took a deep breath and slowly lifted my gaze. "Tell him..." I began, my voice small at first. Then I steadied it, even though my heart still trembled. "Tell him that I don’t wish to meet him."

The guard blinked, surprised. "My lady?"

"You heard me," I said more firmly. "I don’t want to see him. Tell him to leave."

Thorne’s expression softened, part relief, part pride. He gave a small nod at the guard. "You heard Lady Lisa," he said. "Deliver her message."

The guard bowed quickly and rushed out of the hall.

Silence filled the room again for a moment before Elara spoke gently. "Are you sure, Lisa?"

I nodded, though my throat ached. "Yes. I’m sure."

Thorne reached across the table, giving my hand a light squeeze. "You did the right thing," he said quietly.

I forced a small smile, but my chest felt tight. Lira’s gaze lingered on me, deep and knowing, but she said nothing.

I tried to shake off the tension that hung in the air after the guard left. Everyone was quiet for a while, even the sound of spoons against plates seemed too loud.

But then, I picked up my cup of tea and took a small sip, forcing a little smile. "Let’s eat," I said softly, trying to sound normal. "The food will get cold."

Elara gave me a gentle look and nodded, and soon the others followed. The laughter didn’t come back right away, but little by little, the warmth returned to the table.

I cut a piece of bread, dipped it in honey, and looked across the table at Thorne. He seemed calmer now, though I could still see the anger he was holding in, anger toward Damon and his brothers, no doubt.

"So," I said after a few moments, "what’s your schedule like today?"

Thorne looked up from his plate. "Hmm? Schedule?" He smirked a little. "Nothing important. I cleared the day because I knew we’d have a lot to talk about."

I smiled. "Perfect."

He raised an eyebrow. "Perfect for what?"

I leaned forward slightly, resting my elbows on the table. "For going to see Mother together."

His fork froze mid-air, and he blinked at me. "You mean...visit her tomb?"

I nodded. "Yes. I promised her that I would bring you along next time I want to visit her.

For a moment, his eyes searched mine, he sighed and set his fork down. "You’re right," he said finally. "It’s time and I will take you to father’s tomb too."

Lira smiled faintly from across the table. "Your parents will be pleased," she said. "They have waited long enough for both of you to come together before them."

Thorne nodded slowly, glancing at her. "Then we’ll go after breakfast."
