Chapter 226 - 201: God Creation Plan: The Great Trend as a Furnace to Forge a True God (Middle)
Yi Beidou dispelled the one-eyed phantom with a single finger, finding nothing particularly strange about it.
In essence, this creature was actually the same as the East Splendor Martial Arts. Both were condensed from a tangible magnetic field. The only difference was that a typical Soldier and Horse Skill required the user to be nearby to control it and couldn’t operate independently from too great a distance.
This one-eyed phantom, however, was different. Yi Beidou could sense that its master was located somewhere more than ten kilometers away.
To be able to send this little creature to him unscathed from such a distance... that showed some real ability.
Yi Beidou’s gaze shifted outside the ramen shop to the several conspicuous, burly men and the palanquin they carried.
It was a traditional Japanese palanquin. However, because Japan is mountainous and ancient Japanese people generally had poor stamina, these status-symbol palanquins looked more or less like pig crates.
’This palanquin must be some kind of Dharma Artifact. It can preserve the integrity of a "Spirit Body," allowing these magnetic fields to maintain a certain degree of cohesion and mobility even when far from their source.’
When the palanquin bearers outside saw Yi Beidou destroy their master’s "Shikigami" with a single finger, their expressions flickered, but they dared not react.
They knew full well that in the presence of a figure like this, they had no right to show any emotion.
Inside the ramen shop, the other customers didn’t even dare to breathe.
’Yi Beidou could destroy a creature of legend with a single finger. Doesn’t that mean he could take all of our lives from a distance with just a casual flick of that same finger?’
The crushing pressure of knowing their lives and deaths rested entirely on another’s whim was overwhelming.
But since Yi Beidou was seated near the door, no one dared to eat, nor did they dare to leave. They were all on pins and needles.
Just then, the owner finished the ramen and brought it to Yi Beidou’s table.
It was less a bowl and more a basin. Even a competitive eater would find it incredibly difficult to finish this ramen in ten minutes.
"Please enjoy."
The owner said respectfully, bowing a full ninety degrees.
"Thank you."
Yi Beidou gave a slight nod.
The owner’s eyes lit up at his words. He boldly asked, "Um, could I take a picture of you?"
’Owner, are you crazy? That’s the Great Demon King! You’re going to get yourself killed!’
’That guy just killed a ghost with one finger!’
The other customers in the shop couldn’t help but swallow nervously.
"Be my guest."
To their surprise, Yi Beidou’s reply was completely nonchalant.
He was a man who believed in repaying all debts, causal or otherwise. The shop’s sign promised a free meal for finishing within the time limit, but for a magnificent Saint Expert like himself to take on such a challenge felt a bit like taking advantage of an ordinary person. Thus, he didn’t mind letting the owner take a few photos as a form of payment.
He ignored the overjoyed owner, who was now bowing and nodding profusely. Instead of reaching for the spoon and chopsticks on the table, he lifted the entire basin-sized bowl. As everyone watched, the noodles and broth poured continuously into his mouth, the various ingredients vanishing at a visible rate.
The ramen shop owner opened his mouth to warn him, as there were large chunks of pork ribs in the ramen. But after watching Yi Beidou swallow several pieces whole, the owner shut his mouth and simply scrambled to take out his phone and snap pictures.
’A person like that can’t be judged by common sense.’
The owner’s time limit for the huge bowl of ramen was ten minutes. In the end, it took Yi Beidou less than twenty seconds to finish it all—broth, toppings, and everything.
WHIRRR! GRIND!
A mechanical grinding sound emanated from within Yi Beidou’s body. A thick mist began to pour from the pores of his skin, exactly like a steam locomotive venting exhaust. The small shop quickly filled with vapor.
He was metabolizing and expelling the excess water from the basin of ramen.
Of course, in the process, some of his pheromones inevitably spread throughout the room along with the vapor.
Some of the women in the ramen shop caught an unusual, fragrant scent and felt their hearts begin to pound and their blood quicken.
Fortunately, the high water content of the vapor diluted the concentration of the pheromones, and the exposure was too brief to cause any extreme reactions.
They were, however, completely stunned.
’Is that a human body or a robot in a skin suit?’
’The Terminator?’
"Thank you for the meal."
Amidst the swirling vapor, Yi Beidou rose to his feet, strode to the door, pushed it open, and walked outside.
"We can lead the way for you, sir."
The burly man in the lead stepped forward and spoke with a respectful bow.
"There’s no need. Now that our fates are intertwined, how could I not see where he is?"
Yi Beidou’s gaze turned toward a certain point in the city.
The man had issued him a challenge, which in itself created a significant causal bond. What’s more, his Shikigami had appeared before Yi Beidou, only to be slain by him.
The burly man’s expression flickered, because Yi Beidou was looking directly toward the Heaven-Reaching Lodge.
Now that he had a target, Yi Beidou had no intention of wasting any more time.
The injuries he had sustained from using Celestial Demon Dissolution a short while ago were of no consequence.
He had only thrown two palm strikes; such minor injuries wouldn’t affect him.
As the surrounding crowd watched, Yi Beidou crouched, bending his knees slightly. The next moment, he exploded with power.
BOOM!
The ground shook violently, spiderweb cracks spreading across it. Propelled by the immense force, Yi Beidou shot more than ten meters into the air. Agile as a monkey, he used the wall to scramble to the rooftop and vanished in a few quick flashes.
