Chapter 145 145: Ch 145: Let's do our best

"Oh my-! What sharp reflexes. Did everyone see that? Our contestant managed to dodge the attack so gracefully. Do give him a round of applause, everyone."

The host complimented all of a sudden, and a loud cheer filled the room. It drove away the ringing feeling in Andrew's ears, and his body felt lighter to move around.

[The audience approval rating has increased. You will get additional buffs for your performance.]

Power surged through Andrew's body, and he immediately blasted the monster rushing toward him into bits. Another loud cheer followed the first one, and the host clapped as he walked toward Andrew.

"Superbly done. You have increased the rating of our show by a lot in the first round itself. Now, shall we start with the second stage?"

The host gave Andrew no time to adjust. With a single clap of his hand, the stage transformed into a mini training arena with a lot of obstacles on the way. It looked like a simple course at first, but Andrew doubted that things were as simple.

"Are you ready for your next challenge? Then, please get to the other side of this obstacle course. Of course, you will need to use your own strength for this."

The host reminded Andrew, the screen on his face turning into a ban symbol to tell everyone that using power was forbidden.

Thankfully, Andrew was in top physical condition due to all the stats he had invested in his condition.

"Now, without further delay, let's start."

The host disappeared, and Andrew opened his system screen to check what it said.

[You cannot use your system for this part of the game. Most functions of the system will be blocked until you complete the obstacle course.]

Andrew sighed as he looked at the message. But he quickly decided to run through the course and reach the other side.

However, his body felt heavier as soon as he stepped onto the course. There was some kind of heavy force pushing him down. Even the gravity in the course felt different.

"Are you seeing this, everyone? Our contestant is still standing and moving. Will he show us something amazing or not? Why not give your well-wishes to him?"

The host asked, and the cheer followed his words.

Andrew's body felt a little lighter as soon as he heard the sound of laughter ringing around him, and it gave him enough power to shake the situation off and drag himself back on his feet.

He walked carefully toward the first obstacle, hoping that his feet would take his weight all the way. And the more he walked, the faster he was able to adjust and recover.

"Our contestant has found himself at the crossroad. Will he be able to walk across or not? Let's wait and see, everyone."

The host announced as Andrew placed his foot firmly on the obstacle.

It threatened to roll out from under his feet, but he kept a firm hold on it and somehow maintained his balance as he walked across it.

"He is doing it, folks. The first obstacle is cleared by our dear participant."

The host yelled, and the audience cheered at his minute success. Their cheers instantly filled Andrew with more power, and his body felt lighter.

[Current public approval: 80%. Please reach 100% to gain full control of your powers.]

The system reminded Andrew as he kept pushing forward. His feet finally made it to the other side, and he panted and moved toward the second obstacle.

It was a set of monkey bars with a pool below. It was not a long distance, but the pool did not look safe to fall into.

Andrew carefully grabbed the bars before he swung his body from one side to another in order to grab the next bar.

His hands barely reached the bar, but he did grab it firmly, and slowly, he made his way to the other side.

'This is a little tough. I wonder how Lilianna is doing. Will her short arms even be able to reach the other bars?'

Andrew wondered as his hand grabbed the last bar, and he pulled himself to safety.

"Ladies and gentlemen, he made it across. Now, only one more obstacle is left in this man's path. Do we think he will be able to do it?"

The host asked as Andrew entered the last section. It was a climbing section that spanned the whole wall. Andrew carefully grabbed the wall where there was a small hole and dragged himself up slowly.

It was a painful process for him since it required concentration as well as mental strength.

He was careful, but it was still boring to watch him climb like this.

"Hmm, it seems like our participant has chosen to take a safer approach this time. It works, but it is not very exciting."

The host spoke, and the audience agreed with him.

[Current public approval: 75%.]

Andrew felt his strength getting sapped out of his body, but thankfully, he was already at the top.

Before his approval rating could drop any further, he decided to drag himself up and look over at the disappointed host.

"What a marvelous performance until now. You have cleared the obstacle course. We can head to the next round now."

The host told Andrew with a disappointed sigh. He clearly wanted to see more drama and action, and there was one way Andrew could see that happening.

The host had turned around, and Andrew gripped his knife before he made a decision about what to do.

'If these people want drama, then I will give them drama.'

There was a defining silence as the knife suddenly found its way into the host's screen and cracked it.

"W-What are you doing, participant? Do you not know that it's taboo to attack the host like this?"

The phone-faced host asked with an annoyed voice. He did not seem to be hurt, but Andrew did not care for his reaction.

He was only concerned about the public sentiment, which seemed to be through the roof right now.
