Chapter 126 126: Ch 126: Bug Mini game- Part 1
The alarm on Andrew's system went off not too long after he had gone to have dinner. He had set it up as a way to know if anyone was trying to force their way into his base or not.
It was safe to say that someone was trying…and quite desperately at that.
"Looks like Thief and Queen did come back to take a second look at the site. Should I go and give them a surprise?"
Andrew asked in an amused voice but ultimately decided against it. As much as he wanted to show up and announce himself, he did not want to sour his terms with a neutral party who had not done any harm…yet.
So he decided to watch the system for a little longer until it was clear that the other side had finally given up and gone away.
He kept an eye on the system for a little longer to make sure things were in order before he went back to sleep.
The rest of the week went by just as normally as before. He woke up, ate breakfast, helped Clara out at the farm, and then did his own practice. The routine had solidified itself until about a week later, when it finally became time for the next game.
[A new mini-game will be opened. All those interested in participating can come to the nearest central park. Time remaining: 1 hour.]
The message was short and simple, but it caused people to run out toward the park.
"Another mini-game in the park? Should we split up once more? Should we keep the same teams as before?"
Clara asked, giving Lilianna a reassuring look. But Lilianna looked a little spooked by her sudden help and looked away with a flushed face. Her heart beat rapidly at the help she got from Clara.
Her heart told her that it was what she wanted and she wanted to thank Clara. But at the same time…
'Have I not decided that I will give up on Andrew? I need to start distancing myself from him right now…'
That was what Lilianna decided, and she looked at Clara with a clear look on her face.
"About these teams…I think it would be better if we change things this time around. It will help everyone grow a little and get used to each other's powers."
Lilianna's voice was clear, but her heart was pounding fast. She hoped that no one would be able to hear what was happening inside her chest.
Surprised faces looked at her. After all, her crush on Andrew was quite evident if you were to look a little carefully.
"Alright. Then I volunteer to go with Mar-I mean, Andrew. You all can decide whom you want as a partner."
Jenna volunteered before anyone else could get a word in and stood beside Andrew. Her confidence started to come back slowly as Andrew did not push her away.
Since she had already decided her position, no one else chose to butt in.
"In that case, I will take Clara. Emperor, you should take Lilianna."
Seraphina also gave her input, and the teams were finally decided.
Clara did not say much about Lilianna's decision, but she did keep giving her worried glances.
Ideally, she wanted to head over to Lilianna and ask her if she was fine. But she decided not to in the end because she did not want to put Lilianna in an awkward position.
__________
'Tsk, I have no idea why that girl decided to give up her position by Mark Dawson's side, but this is my chance. If I can make him see that I am by his side, he will finally drop his guard against me and take me seriously again.'
Jenna's heart beat painfully in her chest as she tried her best to keep up with Mark-no, Andrew. She had a hard time changing the name she called him by in her head, but she knew that she needed to adapt to it soon.
It was a pure stroke of luck that she was not dead yet. Andrew had decided to spare her life for some unknown reason, and she could not help but feel like it was a lingering attachment.
After all, they might not have been in love, but they had been engaged. And Andrew also used to follow her around like a puppy, begging for affection…
'Ah, those were the good old times. I used to be at the top of the world. And look at me now…'
Jenna complained to herself, and as she kept walking, she suddenly collided with the body in front of her.
"Ouch…why did you stop walking…?"
She asked, finally looking ahead, only to realize that they had reached the park.
There were about two dozen people there, and they all flinched as soon as they noticed Andrew's presence.
"Shit-! There goes our chance to win…"
"How far is the next park? Can we make it in time…?"
"We might be able to. Should we go…?"
Some people asked, and a few left. Suddenly, only a dozen or so people were left, but more approached the park…only to see Andrew and sigh at their ill fate.
They also gave Jenna curious looks, some recognizing her for who she was and others wondering who she was. But they all likely realized that she was on Andrew's side and thus not someone they could mess with.
"Jenna, pay attention. I am not going to babysit you during this game, so try not to die."
Andrew told Jenna, and she felt a little offended.
"I can take care of myself. I did survive this long in these games, after all…"
She had survived because of others' sacrifices, but that was not the important part. The important part was that she had survived, and now she stood here to play this game. She had some survival skills, and it was time for her to show them to Andrew.
[The mini-game will start in 5 minutes. Please step into the game perimeter to participate.]
