Reborn as a Transcendent

Book 3: Chapter 774: A New Storm Has Emerged

“Such a fiercely resolute bug!” Little Blue teleported over and looked up at the green fireworks blossoming in the sky.

“We were just a little short of suppressing it. What a pity.” Yae-hime shook her head gently, a trace of regret appearing on her face. After all, it had been a rare research specimen.

“Master, that bug looked somewhat similar to the Insectmen from the Saint Demon World. Could it have come from there?” Little Blue asked with curiosity.

“No,” Yae-hime denied. If creatures from that world could cross over so easily, they would not have waited until the two worlds connected before launching their invasion.

“Maybe it sneaked over illegally,” Little Blue said with a grin.

Yae-hime rolled her eyes at her. “Do you think they’re like you, sneaking across borders whenever they feel like it?”

“Hehe, don’t praise me like that!” Little Blue twisted her body happily.

“I wasn’t praising you.” Yae-hime flicked her lightly on the forehead. “Enough about that. What do you think about these bugs?”

“Ow…” Little Blue rubbed her forehead. “I think they’re searching for something.”

“Searching for something?” Yae-hime tilted her head slightly. “Why do you think that?”“The answer is in these recordings.” Little Blue tapped the air, and a virtual screen immediately appeared before them. Moments later, nine sets of images appeared on the display.

Focusing her gaze, Yae-hime saw footage of a giant mantis speeding through the sky. As the view shifted, another giant mantis came into sight. Nine images. Nine giant mantises.

“These are the recordings I collected while you were out, Master,” Little Blue explained.

“They’re all active around this area?” Yae-hime asked.

“Yes,” Little Blue nodded.

Watching the footage, Yae-hime fell into deep thought.

‘If these insects truly came from overseas, then what exactly is their objective? Or rather, what are they actually searching for? Could it be… that they came looking for me?

‘No, that doesn’t make sense. If they had come looking for me, they wouldn’t have suddenly attacked. Besides, I didn’t sense any hostility toward me. The giant mantis merely treated me as food.

‘The Mantisman, on the other hand, saw me as an enemy. There’s far too little information to draw any conclusions.’

Shaking her head, she decided not to dwell on it for now. What mattered at the moment was eliminating the potential threat. Even if a hundred or so of these bugs appeared, they would still be no match for Yae-hime. However, to ordinary people, they were the stuff of nightmares.

If Nangong Lin or Rakshasa encountered such insects, they would likely be killed instantly.

“Once you have friends, troublesome matters tend to multiply.” As she said this, she let out a faint, wry smile.

“But Master seems to be enjoying it,” Little Blue said with a smile.

“Enjoying it, huh… I suppose that’s true.” Yae-hime reached out and patted her head. “In order to get a good night’s sleep, let’s carry out a bug extermination operation tonight.”

“I’ll assist with everything I’ve got!” Little Blue replied.

Before long, the extermination operation officially began. With the assistance of Little Blue and Vera’s clones, Yae-hime spent only an hour clearing out the giant mantises in the surrounding area.

As for whether any had slipped through the net, only heaven knew.

“Not even half a specimen captured,” Yae-hime said gloomily after returning to the City of Chaos.

“Bugs that would rather die than surrender… unexpectedly admirable,” Little Blue remarked.

“I’d rather they were a little more cowardly.” That way, she could have captured a few alive for research, Yae-hime added.

“You’ve been busy for so long, Master. You should get some rest,” Little Blue suggested.

“Mm. You all should rest early too.” With that, Yae-hime returned to her room to rest.

“Today was really busy, but it was pretty fun.” Little Blue floated down from midair and spoke to Vera 18.

“Yeah,” the latter nodded. Then, as if suddenly remembering something, she added, “By the way, Little Blue, did you tell Master about the abnormal changes at that singularity?”

Hearing this, Little Blue gradually turned to stone.

“You forgot?” Vera 18 narrowed her eyes, the corners of her lips lifting slightly into a teasing smile.

“No, no, I didn’t!” Little Blue said in a fluster.

Earlier, she had been so absorbed in the matter of the insects that the anomaly in Kun Ruins had long been thrown completely out of her mind. Now that Vera 18 had brought it up again, it felt as though a basin of ice water had been poured over her head. The chill went straight to her core.

‘Master clearly told me to keep an eye on it… I’m doomed this time…’ Little Blue bit her lip, her expression filled with inner struggle. It was obvious that this had been her negligence.

“Since Master hasn’t gone to sleep yet, you should hurry and turn yourself in. Otherwise, the consequences will be very serious,” Vera 18 said with a solemn face.

“T-turn myself in for what! I just reported a little late, that’s all!” Little Blue glared fiercely at her, then vanished in a flash.

Inside the room, Yae-hime had already changed into a simple white set of pajamas and lay comfortably on the bed. “After all that effort, I still haven’t figured out the purpose of those bugs.” Staring up at the ceiling, she murmured softly to herself.

The game already had plenty of troublesome matters piling up. If the real world also started throwing trouble at her… She would definitely be driven to death by sheer annoyance.

“Maybe I should hand this matter over to the Ability Management Department—” Before she could finish her sentence, a cute voice interrupted her.

“Master, I’ve come to confess my guilt!” Turning her head to look, she saw Little Blue floating over pitifully with five miniature baguettes strapped to her back.

“What are you acting out this time?” Yae-hime sat up on the bed and said with a helpless smile.

“Master, I know I was wrong!” Little Blue knelt on the bed and took the five baguettes from behind her back, holding them out with both hands.

“You suddenly apologizing like this… I have no idea what’s even going on.” Yae-hime said.

“It’s all my fault! Please punish me, Master!” Little Blue presented the baguettes.

“If you don’t explain clearly, I really will hit you,” Yae-hime said in a low voice.

“Uh—no, please don’t! I was just joking!” Little Blue trembled and quickly shook her head.

“Then talk.”

“Master, the truth is…” Faced with Yae-hime’s serious expression, Little Blue timidly explained the abnormal changes in Kun Ruins.

After hearing everything, Yae-hime forced a smile and reached out with both hands, grabbing Little Blue’s cheeks and pulling them to the sides.

“Wuaaah! Masteeer, it huuurts, I won’t dare do it again!” The pitiful Little Blue was in such pain she nearly burst into tears and hurriedly begged for mercy.

“If you do this again next time, I’ll spank you,” Yae-hime warned after punishing her enough and finally letting go.

“Wuu… I really know I was wrong…” Little Blue rubbed her cheeks and spoke pitifully.

“Back to the main topic. Do you think there’s anything noteworthy about this anomaly?” Yae-hime sat upright, her expression turning serious.

“It was just a sudden spike in data. I can’t analyze anything from it for now. Maybe something unusual happened inside. Or perhaps… the gate there has opened.” Lowering her hands, Little Blue presented her speculation in a serious tone.

“Could it be that something came out from inside?” Yae-hime half-narrowed her eyes as she spoke.

“That possibility can’t be ruled out.”

“Sigh… truly a troubled season,” Yae-hime sighed.

“Master, it’s still spring right now,” Little Blue corrected.

The very next second, she tasted a fresh knock on the head.
