Reborn as a Transcendent

Book 3: Chapter 773: Dig Out the Root and Blow It Apart!

Two massive slashes were about to strike Yae-hime, ready to chop her into pieces. Yet that future never came to pass. The two attacks abruptly froze in midair, stopping barely twenty centimeters from her body.

Seeing this, the mantisman immediately slammed on the brakes and forced itself to halt. Its gray-black compound eyes stared straight ahead. Faintly, it could sense a powerful aura gripping the slashes like a pair of gigantic pincers, clamping them firmly in place.

“Take them back.” At that moment, Yae-hime swiftly traced a circle with both hands. With sheer force, she compressed the razor-sharp slashes together, kneading them into a single sphere.

Then she pushed forward with her jade-white palm. The sphere, brimming with terrifying power, shot toward the mantisman like a cannonball.

The creature tried to dodge, but its reaction lagged by half a beat. Or rather, Yae-hime’s counterattack was simply too fast for it to process.

The sphere smashed straight into the mantisman’s abdomen with unstoppable force, releasing a heavy, muffled blast. A moment later, the tremendous impact erupted behind its body in twelve rippling shockwaves. Only then was its powerful frame hurled backward.

At the same time, Yae-hime vanished like a phantom.

While being blasted away, the mantisman endured the searing pain and spread its wings with all its strength, attempting to dissipate the terrifying impact.

Then it looked forward again. When it realized its target was no longer there, its heart skipped a beat and an ominous sense of dread surged up.

As if confirming its fears, a slender pale hand suddenly rested on the back of its neck. Another equally delicate hand pressed against its side. Both hands exerted force at the same time, flipping the mantisman’s entire body over… and over again! In that instant, the creature spun wildly in midair like a rapidly rotating green windmill. This was the brand-new version of the Power of Love Spin!

After whirling it around with all her strength for half a minute, Yae-hime finally grew tired of it… or perhaps simply bored. With a casual flick of her wrist, she hurled the mantisman away.

The pitiful creature slammed straight into the concrete floor. The impact carved a massive trench, sending shards of concrete and gravel spraying everywhere while the entire building trembled violently.

“That was too loud. I need to finish this quickly.” Looking at the rooftop where the concrete had cracked open to reveal the steel reinforcement beneath, Yae-hime spoke with a hint of urgency.

Although she would not have minded playing with the creature a bit longer, the commotion had already grown too large. She could not remain here much longer.

Meanwhile, the mantisman struggled to its feet, its face twisted into an almost human expression of fear. It had never imagined that the moment it arrived on this continent, it would run into such a monstrous opponent. What unbelievably rotten luck!

Fighting was absolutely out of the question now. There was only one option left. Run. Run as far away as possible!

Fortunately, this ridiculously powerful human could not fly. Otherwise, escape would be impossible. Thinking this, the mantisman beat its wings and its powerful body shot straight upward.

“Ksssssh-kssh!”

Upon reaching the highest point, it lowered its head and glared at Yae-hime, shouting strange words. Roughly translated, it meant: I’ll repay this grudge tenfold someday!

Unfortunately, there would be no such “someday.” Yae-hime stomped hard on the ground and launched herself skyward. When she reached the apex of her leap, she stepped onto the empty air itself and burst forward at full speed.

At that moment, the mantisman was completely stunned. A single word surfaced in its blank mind: Monster.

This human was more of a monster than it was.

“Let me show you a combo chain of Bagua Palm and Bajiquan.” Before the mantisman could even react, Yae-hime had already appeared in front of it. Her fists and palms crashed down like a torrential storm.

Explosive impacts echoed nonstop through the sky. Meanwhile, outside the building, numerous disheveled residents began stumbling out. Each of them wore the expression of someone who had narrowly escaped disaster.

“That earthquake was insane! Scared the hell out of me!” someone shouted.

“Seriously! I thought the building was about to collapse!”

“That’s weird. I didn’t see any earthquake alerts, and nothing online says there was one.”

“Maybe a gas explosion… no, wait, I didn’t hear any explosion.”

“Probably just another shoddy construction project.”

“Sigh, businessmen these days are all heartless.”

“Yeah, tell me about it.”

“Good, as long as everyone’s alright. From now on, we’re not staying in places this cheap anymore!”

“Look! There seems to be something moving up there!”

At that moment, someone with particularly sharp eyesight noticed something strange in the sky. Following his voice, everyone looked up. What they saw were ripples spreading outward in widening circles.

Amid the distortion, faint, muffled thuds could be heard.

One young man pulled out the newest Huawhey camera phone. Using the ultra-wide lens, he finally managed to capture two blurry figures high in the air.

“Holy crap! There are two people fighting in midair! Are they filming some kind of movie!?” He could not help but shout in astonishment.

Hearing his exclamation, the man beside him leaned over and stared at the phone screen. The next instant, his eyes went wide. “Holy crap! That’s incredible! They’re really fighting in the sky!”

Seeing how excited the two of them were, the others half-believingly took out their own phones and aimed their cameras in that direction. However, most of their phones lacked night mode and ultra-wide lenses, so they were completely unable to capture the two faint silhouettes.

Up in the sky, Yae-hime, who was currently delivering a one-sided beating to the mantisman, noticed the commotion below and immediately switched to beating it with only one hand.

With her other hand, she pulled out her phone and called the little cutie at home.

“Little Blue, can you see what’s happening here?”

“Master, I can see it very clearly!”

“Teleport me and this monster back immediately,” Yae-hime said hurriedly.

“Okay!”

Up in the City of Chaos, Little Blue instantly locked onto the target, her whole body flashing with blue light. At the same moment, Yae-hime and the mantisman vanished like ghosts.

“Strange… why did they suddenly disappear!?” the man holding the camera phone exclaimed in disbelief.

“Could it have been some kind of mirage?” someone said seriously.

“That’s possible,” another person chimed in.

“Or maybe the filming just wrapped up.”

“Shooting a movie this late at night… these film companies are really ridiculous!”

“I bet that earlier shaking was caused by the filming crew.”

“Damn it, disturbing people’s sleep!”

“If I find out which film company it was, I’ll definitely go smash their set!” someone grumbled angrily.

At this point, many people had already concluded that the strange events were part of a movie shoot. Cursing under their breath, they headed back inside to continue sleeping.

Meanwhile, a few curious onlookers uploaded the footage they had captured online, instantly attracting a wave of heated attention.

Atop the City of Chaos, Yae-hime restrained the mantisman with her aura while condensing a slender green needle in her hand. The creature struggled desperately, its heart filled with terror. Unfortunately, no matter how hard it struggled, it could not break free.

“Not bad. As expected of an insectman. Your body is extremely sturdy, far tougher than an ordinary intermediate grandmaster.” As soon as she finished speaking, Yae-hime’s eyes turned emerald green. The needle in her hand shot out instantly, piercing the mantisman’s chest with lightning speed.

The creature immediately felt a powerful surge of life energy invading its body.

“Kssshkssh–kssh!” Realizing it could not resist the invading life energy, the mantisman suddenly roared at Yae-hime.

In the next moment, green light flickered across its body. Its powerful frame began cracking apart at a visible rate. Seeing this sudden change, Yae-hime’s eyes sharpened. Without hesitation, she flung the mantisman high into the sky.

Then she said irritably, “Are you all addicted to self-destruction or something?” Her answer came in the form of a thunderous boom.
