Reborn as a Tough Army Wife

Chapter 520 - 515: Finally Divorced

Chapter 520 - 515: Finally Divorced

Fang Pingying told Li Aihua about Luo Zhiyong giving her US$ 100 every month.

Hearing this, Li Aihua spoke with some compassion, "Zhiyong only earns so much per month, if he gives US$ 100 here, how will he manage his own life in the future?"

Fang Pingying shook her head and said, "I don’t know, I told him not to give so much, but he insisted on giving."

However, Li Yuchun, hearing their conversation from the kitchen, replied, "Just let him give it. If you don’t take it, that money will surely be spent by the Luo Family anyway."

When Fang Pingying and Li Aihua heard this, they thought it made sense and didn’t say much more.

Moreover, Fang Pingying also thought that this was only temporary, once Luo Zhiyong found someone else in the future, he would definitely stop giving so much.

Even though the thought of Luo Zhiyong being with someone else in the future made Fang Pingying’s heart ache terribly, she knew it was inevitable. For the sake of the children, she could remain single for life, but Luo Zhiyong certainly would not.

She also never thought that Luo Zhiyong’s feelings for her were that deep.

To put it unpleasantly, in this world, even when people part ways, no matter how much it tears at the heart, no matter how unbearable the pain, as time goes on, it will all gradually heal.

She believed that after a while, perhaps when she mentioned Luo Zhiyong again, her heart would not hurt like this.

Conversely, it would be the same for Luo Zhiyong.

As the group was talking, there came a knock at the door.

Fang Pingying guessed it was probably Luo Zhiyong coming over, her eyes dropped slightly, and she went to open the door.

Upon opening the door, indeed it was Luo Zhiyong standing at the threshold. She nodded at him, "You’re back."

"Mhm," Luo Zhiyong looked at her, took off his shoes at the entrance, and asked, "How’s Yaoyao doing?"

Fang Pingying pointed to the room where Yaoyao slept, "In the room, she just fell asleep. Go in and see her, but be quiet, don’t wake her up."

After Luo Zhiyong entered the house, upon seeing Li Aihua and Li Yuchun, he called out softly, "Mom."

Li Yuchun did not think much of it, promptly responding, then continued to cook porridge for Yaoyao in the kitchen.

Li Aihua thought more about it; she felt it was somewhat inappropriate that Luo Zhiyong still called her "mom" after the divorce, but didn’t say anything directly, only nodding and heading to another room.

Entering the house, Luo Zhiyong saw that Yaoyao, Ruirui, and Haohao, the three little ones, were all asleep, with Luo Honglan keeping watch over them.

Upon his arrival, Luo Honglan stood up about to speak, but he shushed her and walked over to crouch beside Yaoyao.

Looking at Yaoyao’s face, having lost weight due to illness, Luo Zhiyong felt a twinge of heartache and kissed her forehead, whispering softly, "Sweetie, daddy’s back."

Yaoyao hummed softly in her sleep. Luo Honglan, afraid that Luo Zhiyong might wake Yaoyao, immediately pulled him aside and whispered, "Big brother, this little girl has been feeling unwell lately and quite hard to manage. Don’t wake her; she’ll cry for quite a while."

Luo Zhiyong glanced at Yaoyao and asked softly, "What did the doctor say, is everything alright?"

"Yep, all’s well, it’s very normal for children to get sick," Luo Honglan said, then recalling the matter between Fang Pingying and Luo Zhiyong, she immediately asked, "Did you and your wife really divorce?"

Luo Zhiyong’s eyes flickered slightly as he nodded, "Yes."

"Ah." Luo Honglan had already asked Fang Pingying previously and confirmed their divorce. Knowing that persuading them was futile, she sighed and fell silent.

But in her heart, she was somewhat angry with Luo Zhiyong, because he had promised before not to leave Fang Pingying no matter what.

Luo Zhiyong knew what Luo Honglan was up to. He patted her head and said, "Don’t worry, there’s nothing serious. It’s just that I won’t come by often anymore, you take good care of them."

After speaking, he pointed outside, "I’m going to have a few words with your sister-in-law outside, and then I’ll head back to the base."

After Luo Zhiyong went to the living room, Li Yuchun and Li Aihua were cooking in the kitchen, and Fang Pingying was sitting on the couch, looking at the shop’s accounts from the past few days.

When Luo Zhiyong came out, she looked up at him.

Luo Zhiyong sat down, took out a cigarette, and was about to light it.

Fang Pingying looked up at him, slightly furrowing her brows, habitually wanting to tell him not to smoke, but she stopped herself as the words reached her lips.

Though she didn’t speak, Luo Zhiyong still smiled faintly, put the cigarette back into his pocket, and said to Fang Pingying, "I’ve made things clear with the family on that side. They definitely won’t bother you anymore. From now on, you can lead a peaceful life with the kids."

Fang Pingying nodded, "Okay, I understand."

After the conversation, the two of them suddenly fell silent.

People who once had so much to say to each other now found themselves in this awkward situation.

Fang Pingying wanted to say something, but it seemed inappropriate to say anything at all, so she just kept quiet.

In the end, Luo Zhiyong was the one who stood up first, "If there’s nothing else, then I’ll be going."

Fang Pingying nodded her head and got up to see him off.

But suddenly, Fang Pingying remembered something and reached out to Luo Zhiyong, "There’s still something you haven’t given me."

Luo Zhiyong looked at her, not understanding at first.

Fang Pingying reminded him, "The divorce certificate."

As if just remembering, Luo Zhiyong took a booklet out of his bag and handed it to Fang Pingying, "I almost forgot, here you go."

Looking at the booklet in Luo Zhiyong’s hand, Fang Pingying suddenly felt a rush of mixed feelings.

Their entanglement had spanned two lifetimes, but it ultimately ended with this booklet.

She had always thought that she would feel relieved once they were really divorced, but at that moment, her heart was filled with an aching bitterness.

Finally divorced, this man would no longer belong to Fang Pingying, and perhaps before long, someone else would stand by his side.

Her eyes suddenly reddened, but in front of Luo Zhiyong, Fang Pingying wouldn’t allow herself to show any regret about the divorce.

She forced a smile, reached out to take the divorce certificate, opened it to glance over it nonchalantly. She hadn’t seen anyone else’s divorce certificate in this lifetime and had no idea what it actually looked like, but now that the document was in her hands, she didn’t feel anything was amiss.

After putting away the divorce certificate, she looked around, "Did you pack all your things? You didn’t leave anything behind, did you?"

Luo Zhiyong looked at her and replied, "Everything’s packed."

"Alright." After saying that, Fang Pingying walked to the door by herself to open it for Luo Zhiyong.

Luo Zhiyong didn’t seem to have much of a reaction. He followed her to the door, changed his shoes, and said, "I’m leaving then."

As Fang Pingying was closing the door, Luo Zhiyong suddenly turned around and gave her a deep look. That look seemed to contain thousands of words, but in the end, Luo Zhiyong didn’t say anything. He just smiled faintly at Fang Pingying and then turned to go downstairs.

Fang Pingying watched his retreating figure, feeling something inside her collapse in that moment.
