Reborn as a Tough Army Wife

Chapter 519 - 514: None of My Business

Chapter 519 - 514: None of My Business

Zhiyong watched her get in the car and then looked at the two divorce certificates in his hand, his eyes flashing briefly.

He put the divorce certificates in his pocket and went straight home.

Upon entering the house, the family was just about to have lunch.

Seeing him back, Yun Mei immediately came up and asked, "Zhiyong, did you really get divorced today?"

Zhiyong glanced at her, said nothing, and directly took out one of the divorce certificates and flaunted it in front of her, "What else did you think, that we were joking about the divorce?"

As soon as Luo Zhiming saw the divorce certificate, he came over and wanted to take a look, "Big brother, let me see."

Zhiyong had not spoken to Luo Zhiming and his wife at all since he returned, treating them as if they were invisible.

He looked at Luo Zhiming coldly and said indifferently, "Luo Zhiming, you have time to meddle in my affairs, you might as well think about how you’re going to repay your debts. Tomorrow when I return to the provincial city, I expect they will come to collect debts, and I won’t be dealing with this mess. Let them come directly to you."

Upon hearing this, Luo Zhiming immediately signaled Yun Mei with his eyes, "Mom..."

Yun Mei nodded, then went back to the room to pour a cup of water for Zhiyong and sat next to him for a while before tentatively asking, "Zhiyong, how did you and Pingying divide the property after the divorce?"

Zhiyong glanced in Luo Zhiming’s direction, then lifted his eyelids towards Yun Mei with a slight frown, "How do you want to divide it?"

Yun Mei was somewhat anxious, she glanced at Dashan sitting by the door, then lowered her voice and asked Zhiyong, "Her house, shop, and all, didn’t you get half of them?"

Zhiyong didn’t want to entertain Yun Mei anymore, but knowing her nature, if he didn’t clarify things, Yun Mei might end up causing trouble at Pingying’s place someday.

He simply explained to Yun Mei, "The house was bought with her own money, and it’s registered solely under her name, it has nothing to do with me. The shop was a partnership she had with others, I never intervened at all, what do you think I could get?"

"You..." Yun Mei, upon hearing this, her first reaction was to jump up and slap Zhiyong, wondering how anyone could be so foolish; sharing life with a wife that wealthy and yet securing nothing for himself.

For Yun Mei, a man’s dignity or anything alike always seemed less important than money.

But seeing Dashan at the door looking over, she dared not make any major move, instead she said to Zhiyong with extreme annoyance, "You’re so foolish. Even if you didn’t get those things, when she insisted on divorcing, you should have asked for something. Your brother is still in debt."

"It’s none of my business," Zhiyong exploded with a coarse phrase he had never used before, driven by the frustration Yun Mei caused.

And with that, he didn’t want to talk to Yun Mei anymore. He stood up, and said to Dashan, "Dad, I’m leaving tomorrow. I just want to clear things today. The divorce has been settled by the village government today. Pingying will take the children, I’ll send money every month according the regulations for the living expenses, and later on for education expenses too. This is something I must do."

Dashan nodded without asking more.

But Yun Mei, unable to wait, pulled Zhiyong and asked, "How much will you give each month?"

Zhiyong looked at her and frowned, "A hundred."

Yun Mei and Luo Zhiming were both shocked and asked Zhiyong in unison, "Are you crazy?"

Zhiyong completely ignored Luo Zhiming, only glaring at Yun Mei and retorted loudly, "It’s my money, I decide."

Yun Mei was furious, her face darkened, wanting to argue more with Zhiyong, but Dashan cut her off by saying, "If it’s a hundred, then it’s a hundred. Pingying is the one looking after both kids, there is no amount too much for Zhiyong to give."

Now Yun Mei didn’t dare to oppose Dashan, she listened to his words, subdued her voice, and looked helplessly at Zhiyong, "How much do you earn a month, and you’re giving away a hundred there, what about us here?"

"I can’t manage anymore. If finances improve later, we’ll talk," recalling the past events caused by Yun Mei, Zhiyong preemptively warned her, "Mom, don’t think about making trouble in the city again. If you do, I’ll report back to the army to be reinstated and return home, then whether you like how we live or not, it’s up to you."

"You..." Yun Mei’s words were cut off by Dashan who barked, "Shut up."

After speaking, Dashan’s expression softened, and he turned to Zhiyong, "Zhiyong, from now on you don’t need to worry about home, just look after yourself well, as for home..."

Dashan didn’t know how to continue speaking, he couldn’t bring himself to say that home matters didn’t need Zhiyong’s attention anymore since these matters had already caused his son and daughter-in-law to divorce, any words seemed futile.

Zhiyong pretty much knew what Dashan wanted to say, nodded at him, and didn’t say more, returning to his own room.

He stayed home for two more days, went to the village government once to sort things out, then returned to the provincial city.

On Pingying’s side, Yaoyao was sick and could not be far from Pingying, even not wanting Luo Honglan.

Pingying watched the little one looking thin from the sickness with great heartache and stayed by her side continuously.

Yaoyao stayed in the hospital for three days, the doctors said it was nothing serious and allowed her to be discharged.

On the day of discharge, both Yuchun and Ai Hua came and together they picked up Yaoyao from the hospital.

During the past two days, as Yaoyao was in the hospital and the family was anxious, Yuchun and the others didn’t get involved in asking Pingying about the divorce.

Now back at home, taking advantage of Yaoyao’s nap, Ai Hua and Yuchun especially pulled Pingying into the living room, Ai Hua asked her, "What happened with you going back to deal with the divorce with Zhiyong?"

Pingying, recalling that Zhiyong had called her the previous day saying he had sorted everything out, replied, "Zhiyong called me yesterday, saying it was all settled, he should be coming over to see Yaoyao later."

Ai Hua and Yuchun nodded, then remembering that after the divorce, Pingying would have to look after two children alone, Yuchun sighed and asked, "What will you do from now on?"

Pingying smiled slightly, dismissively, "What will I do? Now that we’re divorced, we’ll just live our separate lives, and he’ll come to visit the children every weekend."

Having a man or not really wasn’t that important to Pingying, otherwise, she wouldn’t have insisted on the divorce.

Yuchun didn’t say anything further, he sighed and went to the kitchen to prepare food for the children.

But Ai Hua’s thoughts were more complex, she quietly asked Pingying, "How did you two negotiate during the divorce?"
