Chapter 486 - 403: Unable
Li Si, who was being talked about at the moment, was in the new house with Buding. She and Leng Mochen’s wedding photos had been prepared, and the studio had provided excellent service, directly delivering them to their door.
Leng Mochen had asked them to deliver the photos to their new home address, so they could immediately hang and arrange them as needed.
Li Si had visited the new house several times, but it was her first time bringing Buding along.
The Shengshi Court villa community comprised pure standalone villas, each featuring two above-ground levels and one underground level. The architecture was a blend of robust Italian style and graceful Hawaiian aesthetics, exuding an air of stability and grandeur, striking a balance between hardness and softness, and embodying a royal and noble aura.
The low-density, high-comfort design promised to be a rare urban luxury. The entire community contained 101 villas, surrounded by gardens with breathtaking scenery. Within the villa area, there was also a five-star clubhouse integrating fitness, dining, and entertainment.
Li Si and her family chose to move here because it was located midway between Mo Si’s place and the Leng Family’s headquarters.
Additionally, there was an international private school nearby, offering education from kindergarten to high school with a strong faculty, making things more convenient for Buding’s future schooling.
Buding curiously looked around, fascinated by everything here. He was especially delighted by the white swing set installed on the balcony, waving his arms in excitement.
Li Si held him while gently swaying on the swing for a moment, basking in the sunshine, and taking a deep breath. There wasn’t even a trace of remodeling odor in the air.
At this point, people from the photography studio arrived with the photos.
Li Si handed the child to Sister Ding and went over with Leng Mochen to look at the various sizes of wedding photos.
The photos were all taken at outdoor locations! Some were at the seaside, while others were at beautiful scenic spots. Since they had been in a hurry at the time, they hadn’t gone to too many places.
Previously, she hadn’t found the photos particularly stunning during the selection process, but now, after meticulous editing, the large photo albums were breathtaking, and she loved every single picture.
As she softly touched Leng Mochen’s rare expression of genuine happiness in the photo, she lifted her head and her gaze met his fiery eyes. "What are you staring at?"
"Looking at how you keep getting more beautiful! You’re already a mother, yet still so youthful!"
Li Si playfully chided, "Go away!" She had noticed this man had been spouting sweet talk non-stop since returning from abroad yesterday, as if words cost him nothing.
Leng Mochen arranged for workers to hang the larger wedding photos in their designated spots. Li Si, satisfied, stroked her chin and nodded approvingly.
Once everything was settled, Li Si hooked her arm around Leng Mochen’s as they walked ahead, with Sister Ding carrying Buding and trailing behind.
Just as the three of them stepped out of their front door, they saw Zhang Shan holding Mo Mo, standing in front of their car with a complicated expression.
Li Si gave her a casual glance, showing no intention to greet her. Where she once felt pity for Zhang Shan, now there was only deep-seated disgust.
She was such a two-faced person!
Thinking back to Zhang Yao’s suicide and how Zhang Shan had brazenly come forward to demand Leng Mochen go to the hospital, Li Si couldn’t fathom how she had the audacity! And not to mention the incident involving Zhang Yao—regardless of how it was later resolved, it had still negatively impacted her! Li Si absolutely detested Zhang Shan now, and there was no way she’d show any kindness. So she promptly opened the car door, ignoring Zhang Shan’s plea from nearby: "Sisi! Can I trouble you for a moment?"
Leng Mochen cast her a cold glance. He didn’t think Li Si had any need to talk to her!
Li Si withdrew her hand, looking at Zhang Shan with indifference. "No!" Zhang Shan was truly laughable! After everything that had happened, she still wanted to talk to her?
Without addressing Zhang Shan’s hesitation, Li Si decisively opened the car door, instructing Sister Ding to get in with Buding first.
"Sisi! I’m sorry! But where’s Zhang Yao? Can you..."
She was truly at a loss for words; the things Zhang Yao had done were too embarrassing to even bring up. Fabricating lies and presenting them as truth—it was astounding how shameless Zhang Yao could be. Any ordinary person wouldn’t even dare to behave like that.
Honestly, Zhang Shan didn’t really want to get involved in this mess!
But over the past few days, her uncle and aunt had been frantically searching for Zhang Yao. Yesterday, they even came to her home to plead with her. They knew she had connections with the concerned party, Li Si.
Everyone in her family was well aware that Zhang Yao didn’t have actual mental illness. The online post claiming the person had mental illness, complete with medical proof, was definitely associated with someone Li Si knew.
So they begged Zhang Shan to help inquire, even if it was just to find out where Zhang Yao was!
The kid had made mistakes, but that didn’t mean she deserved to be treated as someone mentally ill, right?
Originally, Zhang Shan had been trying to figure out a way to meet Li Si. But she hadn’t anticipated such a coincidence—while taking Mo Mo for a walk in the neighborhood, she spotted the car parked in front of Li Si’s villa.
It seems they had come over to the new house!
That’s why she stood by the car with the child in her arms, waiting for quite a while.
"Zhang Shan! Don’t act so familiar! You and I are hardly close! As for Zhang Yao, I don’t even know her! Asking me is pointless! But I did hear she’s a mental patient, isn’t she? Then obviously she’d be in a psychiatric hospital!" Li Si shot back bluntly before getting into the car and shutting the door with force.
Leng Mochen watched Li Si confront her with amusement, finding it entertaining. The little girl could be quite fierce when she wanted to!
Zhang Shan wanted to say more, but Leng Mochen’s car had already driven away.
She could only chase after the car, shouting, "Li Si! Hey! Listen to me..."
Holding Mo Mo helplessly, Zhang Shan stared at the car that had vanished from sight, dazed. She had long expected that Li Si wouldn’t give her any face. Sometimes, Zhang Shan felt a mix of envy and jealousy toward Li Si!
Why was that man so devoted to her?
They say you can tell if a woman is living well after marriage by her mental state and complexion. With Li Si’s radiant complexion, people would believe she hadn’t married or had kids.
She still looked like a young girl, capable of attracting attention wherever she went.
But comparing herself...
Mo Mo being difficult was one problem, her mother-in-law being troublesome was another, and then there was her husband, who had clearly grown colder lately. Her complexion couldn’t possibly improve!
She didn’t even know what had happened with Qiao An. The two of them had been so close before! Some truths didn’t need words; a single glance made everything clear.
But now, when he came home, most of the time he disappeared into his study, claiming he had work to deal with.
Yet she had caught him multiple times when she brought coffee or fruit to the study—Qiao An wasn’t busy at all; he was just playing solitaire on his computer.
He was clearly avoiding her and their child.
What had she done wrong, or poorly enough to make him treat her this way?
In truth, she didn’t lack suspicion in her heart. She often felt that Qiao An might have discovered what happened back then.
It was all Zhang Yao’s fault for screaming like a lunatic in her house that day. Perhaps Qiao An, who had been in the study at the time, overheard everything!
Thinking about this made Zhang Shan lose confidence. She often hesitated to say anything outright, fearing that Qiao An knew and would confront her!
Despite having some dissatisfaction now, she was still content with her current life. Comparing herself to her former college classmates or dorm mates, she felt she had married the best among them.
At every class reunion, she was the center of attention, surrounded by people complimenting her. She was terrified that one day she’d wake up and lose it all!
When she thought about Zhang Yao, her eyes lit up! A psychiatric hospital! Zhang Shan suddenly recalled Li Si’s last remark. Could it have been a hint?
Was Zhang Yao actually in a psychiatric hospital? (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, feel free to visit Qidian (qidian.com), vote for recommendations and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com for reading.)
