Chapter 314: Chapter 314: Fell Asleep While Lying Down
Evelyn Taylor’s resentful reminder made the attention of several men focus on her, but their attention didn’t linger on her for long before they turned back to the drinks.
"Let’s continue!"
Thomas Fisher waved his hand grandly, like a commanding officer.
This action earned him some eye-rolls from the other three men, but they didn’t bother with him.
The three exchanged a knowing glance, then, with mutual understanding, raised their glasses and toasted in the air while Thomas stared in surprise and confusion, and drank.
The behavior of the three caused dissatisfaction in both Thomas and Evelyn. They both raised their glasses in protest, insisting that the three drink again with them.
Relying on their younger age, the two began to pester the three until they had no choice but to agree to their request.
After clinking glasses together, they continued their drinking game.
While the five were drinking enthusiastically, Alice Turner left and drove alone on the street. She stared straight at the road ahead, but her mind was filled with the news of Lily Turner’s pregnancy.
That brat! Such good news like being pregnant and she didn’t even tell her. Does she not consider her sister as family anymore?
Alice Turner pulled over to the side of the road, took her phone out of her bag, and quickly dialed Lily Turner’s number without hesitation.
"Sis!"
After a few rings, Lily Turner picked up the phone.
"What’s wrong with your voice? Why does it sound hoarse? Are you okay?" Although it was just one word, Alice sensed something off in her tone. Thinking of the recent unpleasant events, she worried that Lily had been crying.
Over the phone, Lily could clearly sense Alice’s concern, and she quickly explained, "Sis! I’m fine. My voice might sound hoarse because I just woke up. You don’t..."
"You were sleeping just now?"
Before Lily could finish, Alice couldn’t help but interrupt her. Hearing she was sleeping eased her worries a bit.
Since falling asleep that afternoon, Lily hadn’t woken up until just now when Alice called.
"Yeah! I was alone at home and got bored, so I dozed off." Worried her sister would overthink, Lily decided to explain everything right away.
Why did she feel like she was giving herself away? Was it because she felt guilty about lying?
Upon hearing this, Alice immediately asked, "Bored at home alone? Why didn’t you go out with Easton?"
After asking, she somewhat regretted it.
"Sis! How did you know Easton went out?" Lily immediately caught the key point, frowned, and asked, "Did you and brother-in-law go together?"
He went drinking with those friends of his. If her sister didn’t go with him, how would she know this?
Alice took a breath, nodded lightly, then realized that she was on the phone with Lily, who couldn’t see her nodding.
"Yes! I went with him." After a pause, she continued, "Lily! You’re really my good sister, hiding such a big thing like being pregnant from me."
