Chapter 279: Chapter 279 Can you not force me?
Yesterday at her father’s house, Amelia Linton not only didn’t gain any advantage, but was also straightforwardly threatened and warned by him. She felt very dissatisfied and unwilling.
Just when Amelia was frowning, not knowing what to do, Evelyn Taylor timely offered her a suggestion. She suggested that Amelia should contact Lily Turner’s family.
Amelia thought Evelyn’s suggestion was excellent. Without saying a word, she started to inquire about Lily Turner’s family.
Actually, she didn’t put much effort into the inquiry because she quickly got Lily’s mother’s phone number from Evelyn.
After obtaining the phone number, Amelia immediately called Sophia Wood.
Upon receiving Amelia’s call, Sophia first learned about Lily Turner’s marriage registration with Easton Holmes, but before she could express her surprise, Amelia’s angry scolding came overwhelming through the phone.
After Amelia finished her scolding and hung up, Sophia left home and headed straight for the Military District Compound that Amelia had mentioned, only to be stopped at the gate by the guards on duty.
"It seems you haven’t become completely incurable." Remembering Amelia’s scolding, Sophia became particularly angry. "You better divorce that Holmes guy immediately, or don’t blame me for disowning you as my daughter."
Her tone was commanding, with no intention of any discussion.
With those words, Lily Turner froze on the spot. When she received Sophia’s call earlier, she thought Alice had told Sophia about her marriage.
What she never expected was that her mother-in-law suddenly jumped into the fray.
Seeing her mom’s angry reaction, she didn’t even need to think to know that her mother-in-law must have said a lot of unpleasant things.
"Can you not push me like this?"
Divorce is easier said than done; if it were easy, she would have divorced after finding out she wasn’t really pregnant last time.
But she couldn’t bring herself to disown her mom either, even though all she received here was a mother’s scolding love, hearing those disowning words made her heart ache terribly.
"Am I pushing you?" Sophia stood up abruptly, turning to face Lily, "If I were pushing you, would you be in such a pathetic state now?"
Her emotions became much more agitated than before, her cheeks flushed with excitement.
"I told you not to enter the entertainment industry back then, but you wouldn’t listen, claiming Henry supported you and agreed to let you in. But what was the result?" At this point, Sophia gave Lily a displeased look, paused, and continued, "Then you secretly ran off to break the engagement with the Thompson Family without informing us. Did you ever consider how your father and I would feel?"
"Now, you’ve married a man you just met a few days ago. Can you stop being so wilful in your actions?" Sophia paused intermittently, saying a lot in that short while.
Lily didn’t interrupt Sophia, not because she didn’t want to, but because she didn’t know what else she could say at this point.
Everything she said seemed wrong, so she could only lower her head and pretend to be mute.
"Why aren’t you speaking now? Cat got your tongue?" Seeing Lily lower her head without saying a word, Sophia’s eyebrows furrowed instantly.
Upon hearing this, Lily slowly raised her head and looked at Sophia, who was not too far from her, "Can I leave now?"
Originally, she wanted to say: Are you done? If you are, then I’ll be going.
But when she opened her mouth, she suddenly changed her words.
