Chapter 1031: Living Under the Same Roof

Chapter 1031: Living Under the Same Roof

Alice Turner noticed something wasn’t quite right with Thomas Fisher. She couldn’t pinpoint exactly what it was, but she felt he wasn’t acting normally.

Who called him just now? Why did he become so strange after taking that call?

She sat down next to him again, laptop in hand, placing it casually in the empty spot next to her.

"What’s wrong with you?"

Alice turned to look at Thomas beside her, her face full of worry and confusion, eager to know who had called him just now.

Thomas reached out and pulled Alice, who had just sat down, into his arms. He didn’t want to say anything; he just wanted to hold her quietly like this.

Alice looked up at the man holding her, who remained silent. Seeing that he didn’t want to speak, she didn’t press further. Leaning against him, she let him hold her in a daze.

"Alright, go back to your room." Thomas kissed Alice’s forehead and released her from his embrace, a flicker of reluctance quickly flashing in his eyes.

Alice, quick to notice, caught the fleeting reluctance in his gaze. Truthfully, she was also unwilling to part from him. She wanted to stay together, but given the current situation, she couldn’t follow her desires.

"Then I’ll head back to my room. You should go to your room early and get some rest too." She leaned over to kiss him, then turned to grab her laptop from beside her and left the living room.

"Don’t work too late, get some rest,"

As Alice walked out of the living room, Thomas called out to her retreating figure.

Watching until she disappeared from sight, he slowly pulled back his gaze. Just now, she told him to go rest in his room, but she didn’t actually kick him out; she didn’t ask him to leave.

Is she implying that he could stay under the same roof as her?

That should be what she meant. That must be it.

Thomas answered himself in his mind, and realizing this, a joyful smile appeared on his face. She told him to go rest in his room early—could he go to his room now?

He tilted his head to look outside the living room, but due to the angle, he couldn’t see her master bedroom.

Taking a deep breath, he returned his gaze.

He shouldn’t overthink things now; this isn’t the time to let his imagination run wild. He can’t let his stray thoughts mess up his plans.

Their relationship had to progress slowly, one step at a time. He couldn’t rush it. Patience is a virtue, after all.

Tonight, Thomas decided to stay. Although he couldn’t share the same room as Alice, he could stay in the guest room across from hers, which wasn’t too bad.

Being able to be so close to her like this was already satisfying enough for him.

Thomas turned off the TV, got up, and left the living room, heading straight to the guest room. As he pushed the door open, he gave the master bedroom door a long, lingering look.

Alice! Good night!

Silently wishing the person inside a good night, he entered the room.

Meanwhile, Alice was lying on the big bed, sorting through documents on her laptop, unaware of what was happening outside her door. She hadn’t realized she was staying in Thomas’s room.

At this moment, her eyes were only on the documents needed for tomorrow. By the time she finished and noticed where she was, it was already midnight.
