Chapter 541 540: New age
Chapter 541 540: New age
Two years later in the outside world...
The blue planet had gone through further changes over the last two years.
The major changes were the size increase which was now two times that of the sun. Which had somehow kept up and was still bigger than the planet. The moon too grew along with the planet. The other planets also trailed behind though they weren't nearly as big.
So the Blue planet went from being on the smaller side to being by far the largest planet in the solar system.
Anyway, another change was the emergence of kingdoms on the planet. And not all of them were led by humans.
That's right, beasts had also claimed land on the planet.
Despite the human experts being enough to cause a deadlock, they weren't enough to gain victory or absolute dominion over the planet.
Fortunately, they had ancient techniques that made sure they didn't lose despite being outnumbered. From offensive and defensive magic arrays, forbidden techniques, and artifacts. These were the reasons they didn't lose the last round otherwise one Monarch would have wiped them out.
Then there was the appearance of sub-humans or demi-humans. No, they weren't all humans with beastly features. Those existed but there were elves, vampires, dwarves, and orcs.
Yes, they were real. Then again, if f fairies could exist, why couldn't they?
Besides, their origins were pure humans who got twisted into those forms by their magic. Like how Audrey turned into a vampire when she awakened.
Though unlike her, most vampires couldn't walk during the day. The other weaknesses like garlic and whatnot were false though. If someone thought not inviting a vampire inside would stop them, then they were stupid. And would likely die soon after.
Then elves were just as long-lived as the legends said. Even the unranked ones. And they were all extremely attractive. Then again, who wouldn't be attractive after being perfected by evolution and mana?
The dwarves were again, craftsmen just like in the legends.
The orcs were barbaric also, but they weren't dumb. They just preferred fighting it out rather than thinking and talking it over. Like Jade most of the time.
And yes, not all the subraces were awakened. Those who were in secret realms had actually started their own small civilisations there. While there weren't many, they weren't too few either.
As mentioned before, modern humans were taken in by these races as well as "pure" humans from the past.
But of course, it wasn't all that good for them as they were looked down upon for being weak and letting the world fall to such a state before the experts came in.
At least the various races that didn't get along with each other too much were together in that regard. They all dislike modern-day humans and made them suffer a little when they could.
Most didn't go too far with light bullying and cursing but some extreme ones completely stripped them of their human rights.
From forced hard labour, sexual abuse, slavery, blood banks(vamps of course), and so on. Some even got killed for sport.
So yeah, it was a trying time for modern-day humans who were already struggling.
Of course, not all were in such terrible situations. Some experts treated them properly. Especially when they were capable. Like Klaus and Chris for example.
They were currently residents of the Mayan Kingdom led by heroic humans.
They were part of the elite knights despite being just MR7s at that point.
Their talent was recognised, and in the kingdom, discrimination against modern-day humans was probably the weakest.
Anyway, Klaus had given up on his dream to be the absolute leader of the world. After all, what could he do with his little power when so many powerhouses had appeared?
He had also finally realised that he was too small for the game that was being played. He definitely didn't have enough time to be a leading figure.
And so, he left the matter to his brother-in-law. Now that the fellow and his group might have a chance.
While he didn't know where they were and they weren't picking up his calls, he was sure they were fine and preparing something big.
He trusted them that much. So what if the world has suddenly gone into insane mode when it was in hell mode before? That wasn't enough to stop his brother-in-law.
That man was probably chatting up a Monarch at that very moment and getting them onto their side... Okay, maybe that was a bit too wishful. But there must definitely be a plan that will shock the world in the making.
"Brother-in-law. I hope you finish up whatever you're doing soon and save the world. Even if you said you don't care about it. I know that you definitely will. I dare say it's your destiny and you cannot escape it!" Klaus spoke to himself while sitting alone on top of a defensive wall.
"Tsk. There you go again speaking to yourself like a maniac. And do you think he can do anything in front of this absolute power? Even if he's better than us, he's probably PR7 at most right now. KP doesn't come easily these days and cultivating is slow" Chris spoke as he flew towards his brother.
"All this time and you are still a hater. I kinda want him to beat you up at least once now. Maybe that will set you straight" Klaus replied without looking back.
"Whatever. I'll believe it when I see it. The commander called for you. It seems there's a mission for us. It's probably on the forbidden zone" Chris replied and changed topics.
"Oh? The Tactoa headquarters?" Klaus asked.
"Yes. And stop calling it that. It exploded two years ago and turned into a pitch-black zone that kills all who get too close so calling it that doesn't work anymore" Chris corrected.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever. Do they want us to go scout again? Why do they keep doing this under the excuse that we're the most familiar with it? Like hell we are, neither of us has ever been there. Even when you were in the organisation you did go. After that, we barely had any encounters with them after those few hunts. Which we already told them in detail about. So why is?" Klaus complained.
"Shh. Can't you lower your voice? What if someone overhears you?" Chris warned.
"Oh shut up brother. Whispering became redundant the moment the first Evolver appeared. If someone is listening, let them listen. They already know that I hate this. They are only making us go because we're too weak for the real missions and they don't want us to feel useless. Which I hate. We're not children. We understand our weaknesses. So why treat us like weak chicks like this? Nothing has changed there. If you don't go too close you're fine. And it neither expands nor retracts so what's the problem? You know what? I don't want to go!" Klaus complained left and right.
He really seemed frustrated with the whole situation.
After all, while he couldn't save the world. He could still do something that helped right? But this helped no one. So how could he not be pissed?
Who cares if the king thinks that his talent is the best around and needs to be protected until he is "properly grown"? Let a man fight when he wants to fight okay? How else will he grow?... Okay, sure, cultivating didn't need fighting anymore since divine mana was everywhere now, but his skills definitely did. The whole situation sucked.
"Should I call Gene?" Chris threatened with his sister-in-law's name.
"Fine. Let's go. Damned traitor" Klaus got up as soon as his wife's name was mentioned.
That scary lady was always looking for a reason to nag him. And he dared not give her one.
"Good. And it's really not too bad. What if there are changes? Then we would be the ones to discover them first and save lives. As you know, that thing can even take out R9s with ease if they get too close so this is important work" Chris reasoned dutifully.
"I already said I'm going so can you shut up?" Klaus replied annoyedly. He really wondered how he and his brother were twins and so different.
No just in looks but personality. He would like to think of himself as a carefree but effective person. His brother on the other hand was quite lacking. So rigid and easily willing to follow orders. Definitely not a top leader kind of person.
"...." Chris didn't say anything else not wanting to annoy his brother more despite not understanding where he was wrong.
His argument was sound and nothing but fact after all... Right?
Maybe he needed to seek Scarlett's input later. She's the only one who truly understands him.
Well, his sister did too. But it has been so long since they last met, so maybe that wasn't true anymore.
When was she coming back anyway? Couldn't she at least tell them where she had gone?
It was definitely that bastard brother-in-law's fault for sure. Corrupting his sister like this...
As Chris cursed Muku, the man was slowly opening his eyes after twenty years of cultivation in the embryo.
His current strength?
"Peak R9... Finally. We can go back..." Muku spoke in a slow and calm voice as his grey eyes glowed brightly. Ready to face the new age...
